  1. The Reign of Wizardry by Jack Williamson Lancer Books 72-761 from 1964 $15 SOLD to mrstrange A fantasy classic by a Grand Master with a super cool Frank Frazetta cover. Very Good Plus/Near Fine. Bold colors. Appears unread but spine has slant and has a non-color breaking crease with tiny tear at top of the front cover. Inside of covers are lightly toned but pages are white. Very unusual page quality. Lancers usually fall apart when you stare at them.

A touch of wear at bottom spine edge, couple of tiny finger bends to covers otherwise only has very light surface and edgewear. Small price in marker on front page.
  3. Ardor On Aros by Andrew J. Offutt Dell Books 0931 from 1973 $15 SOLD to dover First Edition with a fantastic Frank Frazetta cover. Fine. Super glossy and new looking. Color nick on spine, hairline crease. Very light surface and edgewear although every little thing shows on this impossible black cover. Very hard to find nice copies of this one.

  5. Visa To Death by Ed Lacy (Pseudonym of Len Zinberg) Perma Books M-3036 from 1956 $20 SOLD @20% off to Outerboroguy Another hard boiled noir with a gorgeous Good Girl cover, this one by Robert Maguire. Very Good Plus/Near Fine. Appears unread and glossy. Very slight spine slant, hairline reader crease where it's been opened a few times, but virtually no handling creasing and only a few hints of wear. Has a tiny shadow inside front cover where a sticker must have once been that fell off without damaging the paper. Another very pretty book.
  6. Enter Without Desire by Ed Lacy (Pseudonym of Len Zinberg) Avon 561 from 1954 $20 SOLD to goldust40 Hard boiled noir with a gorgeous Good Girl cover by Robert Schulz. Very hard to find Avons from this period in this condition. Near Fine. This copy is unread and glossy. Slight spine slant but virtually no creasing and only a few hints of wear, mostly on the back cover. A very pretty copy of a classic Avon.
  7. Love's Lovely Counterfeit by Hard Boiled Master James M. Cain. Avon 161 1948. $20 SOLD to goldust40 Nice uncredited GGA cover from the time when Don Wollheim started editing Avon's PB line and began employing better, more realistic artists than on their early books. Very Good/Very Good Plus. Spine has slight slant but is solid, pages tight. Virtually no creasing and only light edgewear, including a tiny hint of a split at the rear bottom spine. Pages toned as usual but very supple. A very nice copy.
  8. Okay, last one for tonight, I've been summoned by the powers that be, lol. I have more Avons and other goodies coming up over the weekend Everyone knows this one. A bargain copy of one of the most read/collected Hard Boiled authors with a classic cover known to all vintage PB collectors. Dead Yellow Women by Dashiell Hammett. Dell 308 Mapback $12 SOLD to Microbia Good. Solid and tight but has spine roll, splitting and creasing, more on the back than the front. Still looks glossy and great.
  9. What's In It For Me? by Jerome Weidman. Avon Books 241. $30 One of my favorite Raymond Johnson Headlights covers. It's almost a parody of Headlights covers but done so slick it was one of Avon's first million selling paperbacks. Very Good. Solid tight binding, has a split at bottom spine front. Pages tight and supple. Super glossy and bright. Has some lamination peeling and loss, as usual for Avon's from this period, but little wear. Overall an attractive copy of a classic GGA cover vintage paperback.
  10. Plus Blood In Their Veins by Robert Paul Smith. Avon Books 399. 1952. $20 SOLD to goldust40 The cover art is uncredited but is a typical colorful GGA confection from the "round circle logo" period for Avon with a surprise visit to an affair. What sets this title from its brethren is the little known second appearance of "Reform School Girl" Marty Collins, the 17 year old Ice Skating Star/Model whose photos were obviously dug out of archives to fill the back cover space, as Avon was apt to do. It looks like her garters were censored with a fake skirt Very Good Solid tight binding has slight twist, pages toned but tight and supple. Neat --script name on front title page. Overall a nicely presenting copy of a classic cover vintage paperback.
  11. Cry Tough by Irving Shulman. Avon Books 244, published in 1950. Sweet "nipple cover" by Raymond Johnson, Avon's most prolific cover artist of the early 1950's "round circle" logo period and a pioneer in Good Girl art in the paperbacks. $25 SOLD to goldust40 Very Good Plus. Spine is solid with slight slant. Covers are bright, pages tight and supple. Name, date and address neatly written in --script on first page corner. Minimal wear overall. A pretty copy of a great 73 year old GGA cover vintage PB. If this was on the cover of a comic book
  12. Weird Tales - eight stories of demonic horror by Howard - Dyalhis - Long - Bloch - Derleth - Leiber - Lovecraft - Hamilton $30 SOLD per PM Edited by Leo Margulies Pyramid books R-1029 May 1964. Cover art by Virgil Finlay An early sweet collection of horror tales that first appeared in the Weird Tales Pulps with a great Finlay cover. Near Fine. Bright, square and super glossy. Pages tight and supple. Appears unread. Has a few pressure marks and finger bends on the covers but virtually no creasing and wear. The gloss alone makes this a gorgeous copy I may regret selling.
  13. The Spider #4 Grant Stockbridge DEATH REIGN OF THE VAMPIRE KING/PAIN EMPEROR $10 Published at $4.95 so a bargain for $10 SOLD to OtherEric Fine. Super glossy, unread, uncirculated copy with only minor storage wear, including a tiny corner chip that is probably bindery and scratching to the cover surface. Two novels, originally published in November 1935 as "Death Reign of the Vampire King" and in February 1935 as "The Pain Emperor" in the pulp monthly publication The Spider, Master of Men!
  14. Stan Lee Presents The Amazing Spider-Man Pocket Comics 81443 $25 1977 Colorized version. Reprints Amazing Fantasy 15 and Amazing Spider-Man 1-6, including covers, in color. Very Good Plus/Near Fine. Bright, square and glossy. Pages creamy, tight and supple. Feels super-tight and appears unread. Has a light handling crease to lower right front corner and light corner wear but still a gorgeous copy overall.

  16. The Last Planet by Andre Norton Ace D-542 $7 SOLD to OtherEric Cover art by Harry Barton, who is more well known for his great Good Girl Art PB covers but did a fair amount of Science Fiction. I'll call this one Very Good. It appears VG Plus or better but the pages and inner covers are quite toned, although appearing unread or lightly read. Spine is square and solid with a hairline crease. A light finger crease to back cover and wear to lower back corner. Covers are glossy, pages tight and still supple. A nice appearing copy.
  17. The Time Traders by Andre Norton Ace D-461 Cover art by Ed Emshwiller $10 Very Good Plus. Spine is solid with no reader crease. Appears unread, has a light handling crease to upper right front cover. Covers are glossy, pages tight and supple. Minimal wear. Usual page toning. A pretty copy of a 63 year old book.
  18. Another Bargain lot of Ace Burroughs pbs. F-158, cover by Krenkel, F-179, cover by Krenkel, F-212, cover by Frazetta. Overall better shape than the lot from yesterday although F-179 has an unnecessary piece of tape at foot of spine. Call them VG minus overall, great readers still that present well. Same deal as yesterday. $18 and will ship all 3 for the same $4 as one book does.
  19. Out of Time's Abyss by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 64481 Cover art by Roy Krenkel Jr. $10 I believe this is the 1969 Second Ace edition per ISFDB Fine/VF Bright colors, square and glossy. Pages tight and supple. Usual page toning. Other than a tiny bindery tear at top spine this is flawless structurally and obviously never read.
