  1. After reading through this thread, I'm going to have to dig out my Bats 255 and my Tec 235 because as far as my memory recalls (my memory doesn't always work the best) Bats 255 has reprinted material inside it (at least partially from Tec 235) with a Neal Adams cover.
  2. Went for $30. Looks like it went unsold for $25 earlier in the month though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warlord-22-Jun-1979-DC-rare-low-print-Whitman-variant-tough-book-/322403723881?hash=item4b10c26a69:g:PJ0AAOSw9GhYZXrh&autorefresh=true
  3. Who else picked up the Liam Neeson er..umm..Qui Gonn?
  4. It is rare compared to the regular covers of 655 and 656. And that is all that matters in regards to first appearances in the modern age in the current market. The lesser printed book is THE book regardless of content. In terms of comic books, when I think of rare, I think of hard to find golden age books. There seems to be a large amount of collectors who use the term rare much differently than some of us others. Didn't Overstreet used to have actual figures they'd use to decide if a book was rare or scarce etc?
  5. Yes, but not because I want to, but rather because of my OCD completionist behavioural issues. Same here. I'm still on board too! Need that b&w Luke but not sure I'll ever be willing to spend that much on it... I'm willing to ride this thing through the entire vintage line including the Droids and Ewoks lines. Then they can sucker me in with box art from the vehicles as variant covers!
  6. I forget, what the white our or the sharpie scribble the one to have? I only ever got the black tape one. The original "F--- Face" is the one to have because it's the best baseball card ever '88 fleer? '87? I can't remember but I know I had the FF card at one time 89 Fleer! I wanted one badly and ended up trading a Wage Boggs rookie for it. Still have the silly thing all these years later just because it is the most ridiculous card I ever came across. Think I still have some other silly ones with it like the Paul Gibson crotch grab in the background error (also an 89 card, but Score.) ...Baseball cards were fun at one point.
  7. Bespin Han arrived today...looking good!
  8. I received an email today informing me that it is in process of shipping.
  9. Gold Digger??? WTF?!?! It's official....I will never ever get rid of another comic book until it finds it's 15 minutes. I don't have a clue what I did years ago to all my issues of Mangazine and Gold Digger etc etc. What's next? Jademan Comics going to be worth something?
  10. Received my Poe #1 black and white today. Curious, do all of them seem to appear not so white? Not sure if there's been a bit of a printing issue or if this was the intended look.
  11. Yeah.....the rear staining has really left me wondering. It's not just some little smudge! ....and thank you to both of you for the feedback!
  12. Tales of Suspense # 39 Aside from the rips/tears, chips, indentations/marks, and stains (especially the back cover!), there's also a tiny little booger or something that is on page 8 and 9 (transfered from one to the other). I tried my best to capture an indented line on the lower left of the front cover. It is deeper than it appears in the pictures. It seems as though maybe someone had another piece of paper on top of the comic and then heavily drew a line on it which pressed through into the cover of this book. The colors on this cover are every bit as nice as they appear. This came from an old collection that hadn't seen the light of day in decades. Look through the following album for a lot of detailed pictures - http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=WKx2BtKF3Zc4qXPmcmUm7w%3D%3D What say you all? Throw some grades at me please (If any other pictures are needed, I have more and can take more.)
  13. Wow, I didn't realize they were anywhere near that high.Still have a respectable stack around here somewhere. I read this and instantly figured it was some shill BS type stuff.....but then I checked out completed Ebay auctions. WHOA. When did this second bump in price happen to this issue? I thought this book was sitting plentiful at $50.
  14. That Luthor Strode cover is definitely on a level above the rest. Setting the bar very high!
  15. Interesting. I wonder how many retailer variants are going to exist. This is only going to be a logo difference on the cover, so I'm not sure how interesting it will be for people to "buy them all". And maybe it is just me, but that is an ugly variant. I dig that cover. It's not really close to any of the old SW cardbacks, but it is trying to recreate the same idea; the checklist that was on the rear side that all of us kids would stare at and plan our next purchase from. The idea where to put the designated store's logo is awesome. Would be cool if they made one that appeared as though that portion had been cut out, since we all removed the POP back in the day to send in and redeem for the secret new action figure offers.
  16. I looked at the prices. That's breaking even or losing money. Few are making $10. Not worth selling now. I have been watching these for 2 days. If it is sealed they are selling between 175-200. A couple of days ago you could get them for around 130 from Brookstone with a groupon. But now everywhere appears to be sold out. I am not sure if Sphero is planning to ship more but if they don't these things will sell for much more leading up to Christmas. I truly don't see the appeal and passed several of them. Also heard that it requires some other expensive item to control it? Kids will play with them at Xmas and it will get old quick....then that'll be that. The Disney Store Elite Series Captain Phasma is the one to snatch up. When they eventually release an aged Jedi Master Luke action figure....it is going to be on fire. The purist vintage guys will even go out to grab one of those.
  17. ...ehhhh....they're alright. A lot of scalpers are going to get stuck with these.
  18. Auto might be there. Look by the boba figure in tiny writing. That's where I first looked.....and nada I was hoping he would sign it right there. I've seen some and they dissapear nicely if you aren't trying to notice them.
  19. Bummer to hear about some people having damage.....mine came today and it's rather pretty looking Didn't end up getting JTC to autograph it like I had tried to request, but no big deal. I'm a happy camper.
  20. The female superhero books are gaining a lot of attention. https://www.yahoo.com/katiecouric/rise-of-the-female-superhero-ever-since-superman-126459307033.html
  21. ...it's annoying when someone wants to sell something and they give a better price to the buyers? Trying to wrap my brain around that concept, but just keep coming back to the idea of greedy sellers whining about not making more money on something they paid $20 each for with intentions of a quick flip I had JTC personalize mine.....wont be selling it obviously.
  22. Curious why you can't consider a modern a grail? I think that I probably feel that way because I prefer to collect older stuff. I read a lot of new titles and love some of them, but they're just new books to me....none of them feel anywhere near as special as an older book (to me). When I think about a "grail"....I'm thinking Detective Comics #38 or Whiz #2 or something else along those lines. A first appearance of a long time/well established character. Not meaning to sound like I'm knocking any new books though.....I love comics in general! Whatever floats your boat is what you should go after!
  23. I'm not sure why I don't have it still..... it isn't really a grail (not sure if I could consider any modern a grail type book)... Superman/Batman #1 RRP (2003) I loved this series and was bummed when it ended at #87.
