  1. What did I miss? They confirmed the identity of the new Thor.
  2. So....the news today from Marvel looks like it might have an impact on JIM84 after all.
  3. The Star Wars comic packs somewhat danced around this idea....they were pretty awesome! Two figures and one comic book.
  4. Btw, is that Aquaman's trident and Wonder Woman's lasso? Aquaman's Trident, Wonder Woman's lasso, Batman's belt, Superman's cape... Looks like Sinestro's ring and another ring as well. Is that all from JLA 40?
  5. DV3 has condition issues. The cover was made of lightweight paper and there are a couple issues present on most of the copies I've seen personally, and read about from other sources. I had to pick through a lot of them to just end up with three that I felt were 9.6-9.8 maybe.
  6. Sounds like a great list. I can never find the website though. This is a valid complaint. I found a comic shop on Saturday that was - to be blunt - clueless about the marketplace. I wanted to find Terry's site because there were piles of stuff everywhere. I could NOT GET IN to the site on a phone or a tablet. But I did OK anyways. I just take notes on my phone everytime I see a comic trending. I have one list for every comic age.. I can sell you my lists if you want You guys just need to be an oldschool dork like me and carry around a paper list in your wallet . Whenever I walk into a new comic shop, where I'm not known, I get looked at like I probably don't collect comics and know jack about them. Bust out the list and suddenly an employee usually asks if there's any specific books I'm after. Plus, watching my TOS checklist come to nearly nothing is a very rewarding feeling......only need #52 and a couple other relatively unimportant issues (then it'll be time to revise the heck out of my list). Or, you could just have an eidetic memory and keep it all in your head... I think that's cheating!! But I'm not sure....I can't remember....

  8. Sorry, but this seems like very loose reasoning to call a book key on a "B" list character at best. A better argument could be made for Aquaman 1 in this context.... He might be a B list character but he is one of the founding fathers of the JLA....that has to count for something?!
  9. I still vividly remember the days when Hulk 182 was in quarter bins at my fave LCS. I still remember thinking it wasn't even worth my quarter.....damnit!!!
  10. I called before shops even before they opened today and the 1:25 Batman #40 was nowhere to be found around here. All copies already spoken for before release......I probably should've thought about doing that too!
  11. Another beauty! I dig that the people upstairs are starting to really get the idea that "if you build it, they will come". I hope this continues through the entire SW, ESB, ROTJ, and POTF line....and maybe even be super awesome and give us the Droids and Ewoks action figure lines as well.
  12. 4/20 was yesterday What's the deal with 35 now? If something big happens in 40, then 40 and 1 will be the two issues of interest. 35 is just the start of that storyline. Or am I completely missing something? You're missing something Care to elaborate?

  14. Hold on WHAT?? Bloodshot 1 9.8 is closing in on $100?? I just passed on a stack of them in a dollar bin a couple weeks ago.
  15. ...and this is all just because of possible stuff being speculated upon? Or am I really in the dark on something?
  16. X-Men #256 might get a small bump, but I think New Mutants Annual #2 and Captain Britain #8 will be the big winners here. The reason why X256 will never see a significant bump is because.. Well.. Its a DREADFUL cover You're high. Pass the bong. Totally agree on the major stonage.... I love the cover on X256 and 257 etc etc etc.... Jim can do no wrong in my eyes.
  17. Hellllloooo profit! ...oh yeah, I'm aware that 5k different people didn't get to pick this up. I wouldn't have hated it if there had been a limit of a few per customer. This will definitely leave a sour taste in my mouth whenever I think about this title.
  18. OMG...... I just got back home and was about to order one of the Fett variant covers and they're all gone. There was 1422 when I left to make an appt earlier.....what a bummer
  19. An all time low number of Batman 357s on Ebay at the moment (from what I'm used to seeing anyhow).
  20. Right here, chief: Shortboxes Personally I hate folks who fancy themselves comic historians but that's a... ......what is a comic book historian exactly? (and why do you hate them?)
  21. That timing coincides with the start of the new Valiant. This is going to drive submissions, no doubt about it. You focus on the "tripling" but I look at raw numbers and they tell a different story. You can say the number of copies tripled if it went from 1 to 3. I certainly hear you. Just like I heard the people who said the same thing in 2003, 2005, 2007, etc. We still only have 140ish 9.8s on the census for a book with a ~40K print run that has never sold for much less than $300 and as much as $2k+. If you really think there are going to be 250 this time next year, I do not see the evidence for it, at all. My point too. For a book that has always been popular what is the justification for waiting 25 years to finally grade it. The only ones they will still be graded are ones found in the depths of bins which mostly likely will not be 9.8's. They are a few exceptions of people the hoard raw books but the general collecting community doesn't do that. I am not a betting person but I would take a bet on Harbinger 9.8's not increasing its 9.8 threshold past 200 within 4 years especially with how tough CGC is grading right now. They are extremely tough because competition is tough on grading and that won't stop for another year or two. "but the general collecting community doesn't do that". I have no idea where you came up with that idea. Most of the comic collectors I know and have known only CGC books when it's time to sell. Myself and others definitely hoard raw books. That's the name of the game! Always has been. I've seen more boxes filled with one single issue than I can recall. I've heard about lots of others doing this sort of thing as well....I know a guy with a friend who has a box full of uncirculated New Mutants 98 (have no reason to believe this person is blowing smoke up my tailpipe). The smart guys know not to flood the market and just drizzle them out as needed. Now in this particular situation, I do NOT see a flood of more 9.8 Harb #1s coming down the pipeline. Valiant just wasn't everyones cup o tea back then and has since been long forgotten by many. I can't tell you how many books I've pulled from fifty-cent bins in the past weeks. So, no on the Valiant 9.8 numbers blowing up.....but have no doubt that lots of us out there hoard the heck of out books. There are certain books that I will always buy if the price is right.
  22. Was just thinking the same thing. That book is a win win with Jason and Croc.
  23. Absolutely! The quarter/fifty-cent/dollar bins have been very unkind to Valiant over the years and this may come back around to help out those who already own high grade material.
  24. Good luck with the hunt. It took me years to track down a sharp 9.8, though over the past few years I found a few raws that are just as nice. But also so many scratched or dented copies too. The scratches are what I've always found. I'm pretty sure I've never held a 9.8 in my hands.
  25. I believe Solar 10 first printing in 9.8 is tougher than most any of the Valiant books. That black cover can easily scratch, and there were corner imperfections right from the release of the book that showed up white due to paper breaks. I hadn't compared grading on these two.... good call! First EW definitely should count for a lot if you ask me anyhow. Alright, high grade Solar 10 is the hunt now then.
