  1. As mentioned (just to keep it clear), the book was released before the comic: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_From_the_Adventures_of_Luke_Skywalker In my previous post, I mentioned that I wasn't including the novel. The novel just doesn't carry the same weight as the comics or the toys. The number of people who collect the comics/toys vs the novel is extremely disproportionate. Plus, this is a comic book forum....so speaking in terms of comics, this is Luke's first appearance. This is an ADAPTATION. It is not original comic book material. Let's not try so hard to make it into something more than it is -J. Ok so by that same logic I could ask why Batman Adventures #12 is known as the First Harley Quinn, when in fact she first appeared in the animated series a year before. Not trying to be a butthead here.....just so many times things are viewed differently, and then change later (in general consensus). (thumbs u I actually wonder the same thing about that one as well. -J. Hahahaha! .....so you see where I'm coming from then With the popularity of Star Wars, it could end up like a Harley/BA#12 situation.

  4. As a longtime Star Wars fan and collector of the vintage Star Wars toy line 1977-1985, I would definitely argue that Star Wars #1 could be deemed the first appearance of Luke. 1- The comic book debuted before the movie 2 - Take a look at the cover of SW#1, there's important details from info hadn't been passed down yet, resulting in red lightsabers for Luke and Ben. The release of the Star Wars world went down like this (not including the original novel, that's a different beast altogether). 1- The comic book was released 2- The movie was released 3- The incredibly popular (and most profitable part of SW) toy line was released (the first four figures being pre-sold via the early bird certificate). This all makes me feel strongly that SW#1 should be viewed as the First Luke.
  5. Let me pose this - Avengers #1 had no First appearance to covet Avengers #4 has the reintroduction of Cap and forms the real team So if both have no first appearance, then what is important? Is it the team without Cap or the team with Cap? Seeing as how Cap is the team member who has the highest priced first appearance, can he be considered the most important Avenger? If that is true, then #4 must be more important in terms of the Avengers team formation. Hmmmmm?
  6. You should go back and check that again. CGC census on Avengers #1 = total of 2453 CGC census on Avengers #4 = total of 2357 Would agree though that 2K+ graded copies of a book doesn't make it hard to come by, and that according to census, more high grade copies of #4 have been sent into CGC than #1.
  7. My personal preference is #4 for multiple reasons. - Cap is back and the real team we all love is formed - The cover is better (in my opinion) - Over decades of collecting, I have seen less of #4 It will be interesting to see how things play out over the next decade. I think #4 is close enough (chronologically speaking) to #1 to be able to be looked upon with the early importance of #1, but at the same time, #4 also has the huge revival of Cap bonus. It's not like there's a ton of Captain America Comics #1 out there to go around, so this may be the next best thing for many collectors?!
  8. Had an ideal transaction with Dan. Great guy to do business with! Thank you, - Paul
