  1. I got banned from World of Tanks for being a team killer... so here I am for an hour!
  2. Has anyone used a safe deposit box for their comics?
  3. Thanks to those who offered accounts of their own experiences.
  4. Then above 10k would be a good starting point? Thanks. Is collectinsure really the only way to go? What about putting a rider on my home insurance?
  5. OK so then let me ask this...At what value of my collection should I begin to insure it?
  6. This was helpful. Thank you for sharing.
  7. All of the 9.8's posted here leave me speechless. It is a privilege to see such fine books. Thanks for sharing! Are there still GI Joe cover sketch contests?
  8. Can anyone give me some advice about insuring comics books? Is there a separate insurance plan for collectibles or is it done through homeowners insurance in case of fire, theft or flood etc...I suppose it would all hinge upon the value of the collection but as my collection grows I would like to make sure the money I am spending doesn't go for nothing. Thanks very much!
  9. Rings a bell. Double checking Wiki it says there were a couple of issues Hama did not write but exactly which is not stated. I was only able to find out that Herb Trimpe, Eric Fein and Steve Grant were writers also. Although I would be quite surprised to find Larry Hama did not ultimately approve of the issues scripts himself. I have that cover of Origins but I like the B variant a little better. I think issue # 85 of the original series was a silent issue as well. I really like the story in that with Zartan and the red ninjas vs. Storm Shadow. Tommy is a really great character in that he was so conflicted pertaining to his uncles murder. He had a really great character development.
  10. I think this comic was the beginning of the end of the series peak. Hama could have done more but from what I have heard in interviews and such; his hands were tied because he was being steered from pressure by Hasbro. This ultimately curtailed his creative genius. This is the point in the series when it started to get "sci-fi" but some very solid writing continued for a couple more years.
  11. "The secret life of Walter Mitty"
  12. This is a recurring discussion here, and it fascinates me each time. Is there really a difference between a seller saying: 1) Book costs $1030, but take a $30 discount if paying cash or check; vs 2) Book costs $1000, but add $30 if paying via fee-based PayPal; The only difference is mental, right? Why does the phrasing in #2 bother us so much more than #1? This is just a rhetorical question, of course...just one of the vagaries of human psychology, I suppose...fascinating. People getting a discount. People getting an extra fee. People paying a fee they don't know they are paying. Set to the music of Simon and Garfunkels: Sound of Silence
  13. I have shown these two books off elsewhere on the boards here however I thought maybe some of the other GI Joe fans might be interested to see them as well. These were actually a jewel in my collection just because I remember growing up and having older family members tell me that GI Joe had been around for a long time.It would confuse me so I would ask what they meant and well.... this is part of what they were talking about. I have had these a couple of months and have no intent of getting rid of them. I realize its not by Larry Hama but its still really cool!
  14. Something about the way that is worded made me It's like describing George Constanza as frugal. George Costanza---->
  15. Those No prizes again!!! I guess its not practical....sorry
  16. I thought the stories were very interesting, but the sales were too rich for my blood.
  17. Whisp you should have a coloring contest...no joke
