  1. Why o' why was Lowry holding the ball with a 1:30 left to play and the lead?? NEVER take your foot off the gas in that situation. You need quality looks. That turnover keyed the GS win. It was Toronto's game to win. So sad.
  2. I'll also take: Heritage Feb 2019 Platinum $4 Heritage May 2018 Platinum $4
  3. I'll take (at $1 off): Heritage May 2019 Comic Art $4 Heritage May 2019 Platinum $4 Heritage May 2019 $4 Heritage May 2018 $4 (Mickey Mouse cover) Heritage May 2017 Comic Art $4 (Starlin CM cover) Heritage Aug 2017 $4 (Spidey cover) Heritage May 2018 $4 (Superman cover) Heritage Feb 2019 $4 (Green cover - Black Mask coll.)
  4. Can you explain the difference between the platinum session catalogs and the regular Heritage catalog of the same date? Is the platinum just one part and included in the overall catalog? Thanks!
  5. The Dime Action books have always been in higher demand than most other big littles. and those premium books are great! All the ice cream premium books in grade seem to do well at Hake's or on the Bay.
  6. Those were selling at the Windy City show here in Chicagoland back in April. Heck, I even bought some nice western Saalfields that you never see in nice shape. The guy I got those from had three large plastic bins full to start the day. I believe a certain fleet-of-foot dervish strongly resembling Carbo bought all of them as well as cleaning out a few other dealers of BLB's. He must have buyers for them. I like that you can get nice copies for $5 to $20 and they display so well. I'm not a completist by any means - I only need one Apple Mary, after all, and I don't care much for those covers where it's all text.
  7. And I think the "classic" button would be broken if they ever tried to do the "sweats" or men's adventure magazines:
  8. Or you could champion some really early Rockwell:
  9. Do they need to be by Frazetta only?? How about an appropriately chilling and dubious MOY cover from 1943:
  10. I have several earlier Cochran catalogs which show more strip art than comic book art. When you see those nice depictions of Raymond Flash Gordons, how can you not be amazed at his ink work?? Really jaw-dropping stuff, along with the Hogarths, the Fosters, etc.
  11. Fantastic set! Judging by the date, I'm guessing I got a few smaller sets of Atlas westerns from the same source. I was worried about the poor photos, but when I got a few of mine, I wish I had pulled the trigger on a few more runs. The collection was really, really rich as far as Atlas goes, including full runs of Two-Gun Kid, Kid Colt Outlaw and the Ringo Kid. Seeing these makes me suitably jealous!! Congrats.
  12. That's the way I'm leaning after those same requests for an ID and mail.
  13. Man, what an incredible cover! I've loved this book since I spied it in an Overstreet probably forty years ago. The whole composition works so well here, including those wonderful colors. And I love how stoic (or even p'd-off Starman looks in the little inset top left!). As with the Captain Marvel 12 I commented on above, everything works so utterly well in both cases - and they're in uber-grade to boot!!
  14. Outstanding!!! A straightforward, patriotic tour-de-force. The bomb-burst "In this issue" is an awesome touch instead of another boring text box. The shell bouncing off Marvel. The point-of-view. The charging troops right behind his lead. That amazing gradated sky. The whole darn book is amazing!
  15. This was a great magazine - well produced and chock full as you said not just with pop culture but great advertising like whiskey signs and tobacco tins. I have 'em both, or I'd be all over these. I just looked at the one on the left not more than a week ago: just LOOK at that fivesome he's holding! Throw in the old skool fave Single Series Tarzan and an extra Detective 27 to boot, and you have a drool-worthy cover (except I might paste my face over his!).
  16. Which velvet paintings are we talking about here? The ones of Elvis or the dogs playing poker?? Of course, my memory is unclear if the dogs is actually a velvet painting or just a hanging rug. It's been a while since I've seen either in those smoke-filled taverns of my youth... A friend tells me there is a museum for velvet paintings, though I've never been. I believe it's in the L.A. area along with all the other kooky stuff - the Velveteria, I think.
  17. My Uncle Mugs survived Pearl Harbor as well, but had hearing loss as a result and other trauma that seemed to weigh on him later in life. Then again, how could it not affect you??
