  1. I remember those "long ago" days. I also remember back in the 80s when restoration was actually thought to increase the value of a book. I would be interested to know what the "unrestored" grade would have been on this book.
  2. I agree that an unrestored would clear 1.5M. Not to change the subject, but even the AF15 4.0 seemed to go a for a little less than I was expecting (but was not the great deal the AC1 was). I would have thought the AF15 would have brought another $1,000 or so. Then again there have been a LOT of those coming to market recently, so perhaps the supply is a little overweight right now.
  3. I would think AT LEAST 3X that price and probably more, IMO.
  4. Is anyone else having trouble viewing the photos, or is it just me?
  5. Well that ended quicker than I thought. $461,555 @ 7:07.
  6. Between this thread and the CC auction, I don't know where to look.
  7. With only 30 minutes left, you appear to be the only person with enough confidence to make a guess. *I am thinking more like 20 - 30 minutes to close. Final hammer????
  8. With just over an hour left before lots begin to close, and the Action #1 (8.0 conserved) at just over $400K, I am wondering where board members think this will close at. Get your guesses in soon.... In addition, you can try guessing at what time the AC1 will actually finally close. Good luck, and start guessing.....
  9. Is that why you sold your 17 off so inexpensively? I was so frustrated that someone hit the "take it" before I saw the posting, that night. One of those bad memories of not being at the computer when the good stuff comes up.
  10. Great book to start a sales thread with.
  11. Awesome post. I clicked on this expecting to see a copy of Reform School Girl or something along those lines. This was far better and more educational. Thanks for an AWESOME POST!
  12. Nice grab. As soon as I saw Jo Jo 25 in the title of this thread, I knew it would be gone before I even opened the thread.
  13. If you look at this guy's feedback you can see he seems to accept a LOT of "best offers". Perhaps he figures the crazier the number he puts on something, the higher the offer will be. I don't think he expects to get anywhere near the number on this one. Maybe he needs to take 5 zeros off....
  14. Welcome to the boards. I don't sell on the boards, however, I think you may need to check out the rules. I seem to recall needing to put a return policy, etc. GLWTS. Nice looking Action.
  15. So if I am reading this correctly, approximately 1/2 of this is modern stuff (78 - 90) that he probably couldn't sell at his store at any price. Then there is the other 1/2 (approximately) which is lower grade, non-key, silver age. The guy says he does not want to be "cherry picked", however, there does not seem to be any cherries to pick. I hope you are not planning to bring too much cash with you on this one, however, I hope it works out for you.
  16. Jimbo, Wishing you all the best during this difficult time. May you have the wisdom needed to make the right choices and may your son gain wisdom before he goes any further down the wrong road.
  17. At 70 percent off, I will take the following TECs from page 1.... 306C - 5.0 - 20 320 - 6.0 - 30 322B - 4.0 - 15 330 - 5.0 - 20 337D - 4.5 - 10 344B - 5.5 - 15 362B - 6.0 - 15 I believe these are all still available. Please let me know if they are not.
  18. Collect what YOU love. Value should not dictate what you like or what you collect. That may be one of the biggest problems with the hobby; people chasing value as opposed to just collecting what they love. (I probably just stepped on many toes, but this is simply my opinion and take it or leave it as you wish). I prefer the #1, however, if you prefer the #4 and already own it, then you should be happy and avoid a trade that you may likely regret. Again, only my (from a guy who has probably overpaid for way too many books simply for the love of the book).
