  1. Guess, I can go to bed. Let me know when you decide which day you will be bringing out the action.
  2. I completely understand. Not sure about a 3.0. A CGC 4.0 sold in March for $9K. Hope you find the right one for you.
  3. I don't see it listed directly on the MCS site (which is unusual). I would think if it is $24K on eBay, then it would be $21K - $22K directly on the MCS site (if it were listed there). Conan (of MCS) is a member here. You should PM him if seriously interested.
  4. WOW! I see that listed on eBay, but not when I go directly to MCS. That seems like a BIG jump when as I recall a 6.5 sold in March for $16,700. Then again, Gator has a much better idea of FMV than I do.
  5. Without getting into specifics, I would highly advice you to be cautious about accepting their assigned grades at face value.
  6. I agree that at times descriptions on various auction sites do get "recycled". At other times people just make mistakes. We are all human and capable of making mistakes. I MAKE LOTS OF THEM! I remember another BIG auction site auctioning off an 8.5 copy of a book and listing it as "Highest Graded". I notified them that I owned (and had owned for some time) the "Highest Graded", which was (and still is) a 9.0. I "suggested" they change their description, so that someone would not buy it thinking they were purchasing the "highest graded" when they were not.
  7. About a year ago I purchased numerous books off a fellow board member. A long time afterward (maybe a few months) I noticed that the books were all listed on CL. They were not marked "sale pending" or anything, they still showed to be for sale, LONG after I had paid for and received them. I don't know it this was the fault of CL or the board member (who maybe failed to notify CL), so I don't want to speculate.
  8. I find this a bit frustrating as well. I believe CL likes to keep SOLD books on their website as long as possible (perhaps with the "sale pending" logo), so that other people can see that CL is a good place for sellers to try and sell their books. Like when a real estate agent puts the SOLD sign on the sign out in front of a house they sold. If a book is marked as "sale pending", I believe that means an offer has been made and accepted by the seller. Thus those books are really not available for purchase. That is just my thoughts and experience. If someone else has other insight, please share....
  9. You are correct. I double checked more than one copy of each book before posting. You are 100% correct.
  10. The OP is correct. The book in question is NOT an Action #8, but rather an Action #9.
  11. I was here and ready, but looks like it is going to be all TEC tonight. Think I will call it a night and wait on the Actions or Sups.
  12. I agree with you. I don't personally consider it "restoration" (by definition, as how can taking something off possible "restore" it. Back to my car analogy for a moment. If I had a rusty bumper and took it completely off the car and then tried to sell the car without a bumper, I don't think anyone would say the car was "restored". They would say, "That car is missing a bumper" and then adjust their purchase price accordingly. I think you and I are on the same page with trimming! I also agree that very often trimming is likely done as a deceptive business practice.
  13. Wish I owned this. CGC could put any label they want on it. What a beautiful book!!!!
  14. This sounds a lot like the discussion on "pressing"; is it "restoration". Let me first say that I have never clean and/or pressed a book. With that being said, I tend to think that if nothing is added to the book (pieces, color touch, ink, glue, etc), it is not restoration. I occasionally wash my 57 Chevy and I don't think of myself as "restoring it". (maybe this is a bad example). Of course that definition is not perfect as some could say that "trimming" does not "add" to a book, but is restoration. I think, however, that if a chemical is added to the book to clean it, that it should be disclosed (thus I like the fact that CGC does leave that on the label).
  15. You are correct, these are not really the same comic (different interior, etc). What are you accepting as "differences"? For example, I have books with clearly different shades of color (not just fading, but clearly printed in different shades).
