  1. Thank you for your message. It is my idea that a lot changed since 2016 and prices skyrocketed (a KJ page with dream under 10k? I wish it was true); furthermore pages are not easy to find in public auctions as the few that circulate are sold privately...
  2. For those of you, lazy to open CAF, here is the image.
  3. Oh, well, this topic seems to be asleep, so it is time to post some new Sandman art. Jill Thompson and Vince Locke from Brief Lives. Any comment on CAF is more than welcome! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1575725
  4. That page you posted was auctioned on Hakes (as I remember being the higher bidder for many days!) And my idea is that if it was on Ha it would have scored more. Anyway, I think it would be interesting trying to figure out an average FMV on sandman pages. I am pretty sure we all.will have different ideas as there are not enough public results. Who wants to be first? 1) Kieth first issues 2) dringenberg the doll's house 3) Kelley Jones season of mists 4) Thompson brief lives 5) Hempel kindly ones 6) McManus a game of you 7) others that I can't remember now and wiki is down 8) death first mini by Bachalo featuring the big sister.
  5. Let's try to define FMV, as the few auctions didn't help me clear my mind. Apart from particular issues (1, 8, Shakespeare's issue, 50) how much an "average" page with dream is worth? 1) Kieth first issues 2) dringenberg the doll's house 3) Kelley Jones season of mists 4) Thompson brief lives 5) Hempel kindly ones 6) McManus a game of you 7) others that I can't remember now and wiki is down 8) death first mini by Bachalo featuring the big sister.
  6. Maybe I have been unlucky, but I haven't been able to see these pages in auction. Damn! So basically your point of view is that many pages might be in the hands of people that have nothing do with comic art and comics, because they were only into sandman; when the series ended they just stopped going to shops and didn't buy any other comic... Makes sense. Furthermore these people know nothing about these pages' value, so they might keep them in drawers with other useless prints or might auction them on eBay for nickels or sell then on Craigslist/thrift shops for few dollars. Makes sense again. I just hope those pages won't be lost. Ps: would it be possible that Sam Kieth still owns pages from the first issues, consider two pages have been on sale from his rep in the last months?
  7. I agree with you, Eric, but what puzzles me is that even if the pages with Dream are scarce, they never show up. In the last year they auctioned a couple of pages without Endless and nothing else. Nothing. Let's take Watchmen as an example: we have 12 issues and just a few pages have the heroes on them. We are talking about one of the most important comic book ever, movie and future HBO TV show... Pages are more available in auctions than Sandman's! Yes, probably because Sandman has a different fan base...
  8. Last time (a couple of months ago) Albert posted a page from issue 1, it was bought in a couple of hours for 7 grands (if my memory helps me); this time, still no buyer. Weird (I doubt the +2K have a big influence). I will try to upload on CAF a couple of new pieces and then will post them here too. Laziness after summer break. But I keep wondering: how is it possible that with 75X22 pages being drawn, it's almost impossible to find a good page these days?
  9. So if rules have not to be followed, I will update this thread with this work by Bachalo; it was supposed to be a cover for the SDCC program back in 1995, but for some weird reason it was put aside and probably never published. The two Brothers. PS: is this big collector on CAF who owns a lot of pages?
  10. Don't forget the first 7 stories have (almost) nothing to do with what is coming after; the real HUGE change happens with issue 8 and the intoduction of Dream's older sister... Our pal Joseph posted a page from that episode (the one with pigeons); that is one of the best stories ever. So, no more original art here? Out of curiosity: why is there such a scarcity of pages available now? I remeber back in the past years (2010/2016) you could find some without any problem while now it is almost impossible. I don't think it's because of Netflix. Any hint apart from Sandman being a milestone (watchmen pages are fewer but still you can find them in any HA auction)? Luca
  11. Would you suggest to read it all without having any interruption, or would you rather suggest to read a trade or two and then let the story "settle" in you mind a bit in order to avoid an overdose?
  12. As I am re-reading in Italian the run for the third/fourth time, I keep needing a lot of time to go through each issue. Read dream country today and I needed a couple of hours for 4 stories that I know perfectly; generally in the same amount of time I read two Trades (12/16 issues in English). Ps: dreams of a thousand cats is way better than midsummer dream. There is no contest.
  13. Nice pages that confirm how hard is to get a decent Dream page. A Death page is sensibly easier! :-) High cost of living issue 2, Bachalo and Bucky.
  14. That is another great example, Martin. Mike D. is my second favourite Sandman artist and I sincerely hope to get a page from him in the future. The problem is that how many times is Dream present of the page in the first issues? Not many...
  15. Those are alle prime examples. Joseph, if my memory serves me, you own the last page from overture which matches perfectly the one you showed us. Is the death page all art or does it have some stats? From the scan it seems so. Simon, kindly ones is a great storyline (all are great storylines), but Hempel is my least favourite artist (but of course i would kill to get that page from you). Great death page... And don't cheat, other stories are not allowed! :-) Nico, wow, I remember that page so vividly! I am going to read those stories later today or tomorrow! Keep showing! Ps: Other Bachalo's? Who me?:-))
  16. Hello everybody, I am in the process of re-reading this masterpiece as in Italy it has been finally republished in a deluxe edition and, with a Netflix show announced, I thought it would be nice to see what you have hidden in your collections! Please 1/75 only and death mini series! I will start with this Kelley Jones piece from the season of mists storyline. It has all for me except for some dialogue. Let us see what you have! Luca
  17. I just received this stunning piece by Mr Cooke. Long story, if you feel like reading in the desciption the whole story! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1565200 Comments always welcome! :-) Luca
  18. Yes it was the TG and no, we didn't close the deal. I was selling for a bigger purchase, but then the bigger purchase wasn't available anymore, so the piece went back in my collection. Anyway feel free to contact me if you want to discuss!
  19. Nope, the price includes entrance. All the rest depends on the artists.
  20. It is an incredibile experience - full stop. Despite the "high" price to get inside (around 150USD for a day, 250USD for two days and 500USD if you want to join the gala dinner on Friday), if you are an art lover and don't want to mess around with cosplayers or signature/sketch hunters, this con is the con for you. Villa Erba on Lake Como is a wonderful place and the situation is really calm and cosy. You have TIME to talk with the artists and to get a commission (if you haven't preordered anything before) and you have TIME to see them draw and have fun with fellow artists. Mignola, Hughes, Charest, KJones, Cho, Sienk, Guarnido etc.etc. all in the same room at the same time. Took me 3 minutes to talk to Mignola, 5 minutes to pick up my commission from KJones (and we spoke for at least 20 minutes), 30 seconds to see Sienk drawing and 0 to 1 second to talk to Gary Frank. Everybody doodled for free and sketches on books were often given for free as well. Signatures? Free too (I saw some people with 20 books). Prices for art were high, though. Not many many dealers from overseas (in 2018 we had Albert Moy), but a lot of collectors to network with. Reaching Como might not be easy, but it is worth the trip. Luca PS: on Sunday a German collector arrived at Sienk's table and opened his bag: he had the last page from Love and War! Sienk was shocked and he started to jump, then Guarnido ran fast towards his table and he started to jump together with Bill... They were shocked that the page had resurfaced from the middle of the heart. A crazy experience well worth to be seen (and I wasn't there, sigh sob)
  21. Hello folks, this is what I got during Lake Como Convention! I think everybody knows Kelley Jones and his work on Sandman, so you should be familiar with his talent KJ Sandman On the other hand I want to introduce you this "new" talent who hasn't been published yet (as far as I know): Felipe Echeverria! Look up for his pieces, they are wonderful (Marc Mokken sells some). Felipe Echevarria - Death Hope you like them enough to leave a comment! :-) Luca
