I'm still not gonna renew. Notes for books that are all screwed up still have no value IMO.

While we're on the topic of notes I think the notes themselves need some consistency. No more of this some books get them and some don't. Graders shouldn't be able to pick and choose which books get notes and which ones don't. It comes off looking like favoritism or laziness. Your book is 9.6 or less put why in the notes. No exceptions.

Ironically, the 9.6 books I own that I did not have graded were the first ones I wanted to see, so far all have come back notes unavailable.

Your avengers 57 is not even close to a 7.0.  3 inch spine split, tons of cover wear, etc.   I’m close to a 2.0 on it.  it’s ironic considering you have a graded 7.0 Xmen in the same sale.  Please compare the two and be honest with yourself about the avengers 57.

This isn’t about mean people bringing you down and this isn’t about you being a little off on the grade and having a discussion.  Please don’t blame us or try to deflect criticism. It will only hurt your reputation further.

Your avengers 57 is probably the most over-graded key I’ve ever seen for sale here.

I have to say I agree with the 57, that is why I specifically called it out, although I referenced a CGC 5.0 I wanted to show it was priced double that. I agree with others that 4.0 is the top of the world on that book. What I am not certain he understands is a new collector may not do their homework or understand and if there is intent or not, that person will be taken to the cleaners if they buy that book at 1K.

Shipping from the UK to USA is 40-80$ depending on insurance... I am trying to get it I just want to understand who would cover shipping and fees? I barely have a margin on most books... maybe 10% and I would take a loss in the scenario im taking returns on my dime. im trying dude...

Welcome to trying out the business world. Take the time to learn how to grade, how to price, how to manage costs.

If you are only making 10% consigning at those prices you need to re think your clients or expectations, if someone is expecting $900 return on that Avengers 57 you need to educate them on the market. .An Avengers 57 in 5.0 is $500 (which may be what that book grades). A CGC graded Avengers 57 in CGC 6.5 can be bought right this minute for $669 on ebay. Already graded no "I will be willing to discuss my grading" it is graded.

And since you are editing your posts now, you originally had that Avengers 57 at 6.5 -7.0.

I’m happy to have any discussion about grades. I’ve seen massively under and over graded books. Submitted been shocked and pleased. I don’t understand people’s constant need in this hobby to bring people down I will consider reasonable offers. Most of the books I’m selling are graded. And the raw ones I’m open to discussing grades. Thank you.

Who is trying to bring you down?

Post that book in please grade my book thread if you want to be transparent.

My point was, it won't sell at the listed price and anyone who knows how to grade knows it is overgraded so it is a moot point, we should just let the threads run with only you bumping them 3 times.

Any day now your incessant prediction of global collapse will come true. Hang in there! :wishluck:

    Right.

If I personally felt that way I would sell off the more common high supply books now and buy them back in later at a lower cost. Although when I try that with stocks, the prices shoot up another 100%. I did that with Ford this past year, thought oh nice I can double up, watch it drop and buy back in, it went on a straight upward trend the minute I submitted the sale. I now own -0- shares of Ford.

But as Mr Sweet Lou says and the recaps I have been doing support - it is very much a mixed bag.    There are certain books I probably won’t touch until correction goes deeper.   On other things, I am buying in or upgrading if I feel pricing is “good enough”     Even easier to get comfortable  on upgrading if your cost base on first copy is so far below current market as it lowers your effective/net cost of the upgrade (new grade is 2k while old copy your selling  is 1k for which you paid 200 - making your effective cost 1.2k for the higher grade).

    This!

I have felt better about upgrading if I am dealing with actual cost. This past year was not a good one to actually execute for myself but that has been how most upgrades have happened. Even better when it is a trade and included in the upgrade.

I may now start purchasing again. Of course, to be melodramatic, just before a purchase, prices will again "reach the stars" and I'll be left empty handed.

I snagged a Hulk 181 to help drive down last sales, knowing my luck two more will sell for 20% lower. If that happens I will have another copy since we call that Averaging down.

I need another copy of Conan 1. For some reason that book is not dipping like I had hoped.

  8. As a former member of it has to be OW or better in the past few years I changed, mainly due to no real interest in selling those specific books that I own now that fall into that range.

25 years ago I wasn't paying as much attention to page quality as much as presentation, after adding certain books page quality was something I started looking at as "upgrade" need. As a collector I have always liked having place holders. Especially in this hobby if you buy what looks nice you can upgrade and you are upgrading the purchase price of the time you bought versus current prices. I bought plenty of IH181's over the years with intent of selling and they always sold pretty well for OW/W but White always sold for higher. In Bronze age books I still do not cross the C/OW line.

For silver, AF15 for instance, even though there are copies in OW or better, they almost always carry a premium even when they have heavy MC. I watched for a while for a copy  to hit in my wheelhouse with requirements in this order. Budget, No MC, No large pieces from front cover, then PQ. A really nice presenting C/OW hit and I went in on that one. At the time it was not discounted due to PQ, I am pretty sure it ranked in the top 4-5 highest prices for that grade sold even at the time. When it got here I was very happy with it. Fast forward today. If I had of kept waiting to buy an AF15  each copy I have watched with thoughts of upgrading the one I have hit pretty serious sales prices. So I am not sure it would be a book I would have PQ as a deterrent even though there are a decent amount of options each auction cycle.

    No it isn’t cheap.

Not sure why you put so much of your time and energy into being a hype man for increasing comics prices, but I don’t think anyone reading your post would have a clue you were trying to compare against AF 15.  Talk about moving the goalposts.

    Not sure anyone understands.

Sold for over 19k in May.

I actually added a Hulk 181 back to the collection last night based on the selling prices. Although I replaced with a copy 1.5 grades below the last one I sold for more than I sold it for.

I have always done better buying in November/December on bigger keys but that price difference you posted is beyond the seasonal drop. I hope the newer collectors understand the seasonal drop that almost always happen and do not panic.
