We've noticed a lot of local buyers who're younger and a lot more female buyers.  This hobby is a lot more mainstream than it was 20 years ago and a lot 'cooler'.

I also noticed the younger more hip crowds at shows, my wife reminds me no matter how cool others are coming into the hobby I am still a nerd. Granted they tend to gravitate to areas of the show I do not but it is still good to see. I have often thought about the generational changes coming. For me the nostalgia is beyond what the movies share or promote. Today's generation is definitely robbed of standing in gas stations and drug stores drooling over spinner racks that introduce you to characters beyond movies (which we did not have).

On topic CL prices on books I planned on snagging this round were above last few sales. I was shooting for that Showcase 6 thinking DC was still off the radar but got sniped at the end by $100.Did grab a Steranko cover I wanted well below planned spend, but so far only have three wins on about 15 serious bids.

Having been on both sides of the table, third party observations/comments should be kept to themselves until such a time as party 1/2 have parted ways. Definitely bad form at a convention to make any comments (positive or negative) about a book/transaction one is not involved in.

What if you yell "Go Dawgs" first? That makes it ok right?

  3. I actually decided to send in 5 of them last year. Grades just posted, see below. I can't say this exact book went but one of them was definitely from the small tear stack. Assume it was one or two of the 9.6's.

    Haha! Sure!

There are a couple of guys in the threads that are ALWAYS pumping these books overtime and I was speaking towards that.

Apparently every book is 'going to the moon' even when it's already been there and back already. It just gets tiring but i probably shouldn't have said anything.

Amen. I turned my notifications off for this thread particularly due to every auction update. Final sales are one thing but board countdown clocks for each auction running?

Most of us see what you are saying, pump AF15,X1 and IH1 to death, then low and behold one becomes available for sale from said user.

  5. Just finished with my "priority" list for 2022 and trying to stay away from the hype books. I do have a Modern on the list this year that I suspect when I land a copy  it will be record high territory and then quickly fall into the downward spiral.

Those hype books like Eternals, and all the Spiderman2099 being pushed right now are set up perfectly to burn newer collectors. I can't imagine long term collectors going in now saying "oh I always wanted a mint copy of Spiderman 365". There will be some unhappy people if they are in it for returns next year as with every year with the bottom of the bubble books.

    What grade was it?

Curious myself we did not get the sales update with link since we normally get those updates.

    Joking aside,

Congrats on the sale, that was a nice copy and would be hard to let go of.

I can also say my Instagram messenger has went bezerk the last couple weeks trying to pry away my copy.
