  1. I've run sales threads in Mixed off and on to sell copies of the children's books that I write, but I'm out of the time required to package and ship them. But don't worry! Copies of my books are available on Amazon (Prime eligible) in both paperback and Kindle: https://amzn.to/3RMkHkf The books are also available on Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Bookshop, Apple Books, and other retailers. The books have positive ratings overall on Goodreads, and my most recent book, How Did the Hippopotamus Get there?, received a positive review by Midwest Book Review and a 5-Star rating from Readers' Favorite. If you purchase any copies, honest feedback with the retailer is greatly appreciated. You can learn more about the books on the Amazon link above or on my website; https://www.flatmountainpublishing.com/our-books/ Thanks for taking a look!
  2. GI Joe Saturday Morning Adventures Chew, Chu I haven't read Sweet Tooth yet, but I hear good things Kill Lock Killing Joke Last Ronin Hawkeye Witcher The Strain Old Man Logan DMZ
  3. I've started working on my next comic anthology called The World's Worst... The comic will include a few short stories. The first story is The World's Worst CEO. I've included the draft pages below. Thoughts and feedback are always appreciated. Thanks for taking a look! As a note, artwork is already underway for the next two stories in the comic. The comic should be done by the end of February.
  4. This was okay, but not as good as the GI Joe Saturday Morning Adventures series.
  5. Black Friday bump! All books are $10 each, plus a free gift per book. Shipping is flat rate $5. What kid wouldn't want fun books to read for the holidays? Personalizations are free. Check at the new emblem added to the cover of my most recent book for my Readers' Favorite 5 Star Review:
  6. Fafhrd and Gray Mouser by Mike Royer. Two original sketches in pencil. Crappy photo and a dirty top loader. The sketches are crisp.
  7. My daughter and I finished the first Uncanny X-Men Omnibus. It ends right in the middle of the Dark Phoenix Saga, so we started the next omni. 304 comics this year.
  8. For you Conan fans, this may be of interest: Conan the Barbarian - Colossal Edition https://zoop.gg/c/conan I did support the campaign, but I'm not affiliated with it in any way.
  9. Are you reading these as floppies or in TPB format? They eventually published "Pseudo #13" (or something similar in name) to close out the original story. I really love that character.
  10. Final bump. Open to offers. Thanks for looking.
  11. Not quite as bad as "are we there yet," but another question parents just can't answer. Check out my next standalone 6-panel webcomic from my forthcoming Dad Powers and Other Stories comic. It's less than 30 seconds with full audio. Take a look. Please subscribe and like if you enjoy it!
  12. How about $80 shipped? Offers welcome. Thanks for looking.
  13. Rules: US buyers only. Shipping is included. PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, money orders, and checks accepted. Payment must clear before shipping. No returns. No HOS, other list people, or anyone else I decide not to do business with. First unconditional take it wins. My Kudos Thread I think the enamel pins are relatively rare, but the Spider-Man plastic pin is more common. Spider-Man, plastic, 1992, some scratching and wear Carnage, enamel, 1993, some scratching and wear Bloodshot, enamel, 1993, some scratching and wear Thunderstrike, enamel, 1993, some scratching and wear The copyright dates are a little small and hard to read, but I think I got them right. $100 shipped. eBay prices are somewhat high for Carnage. I'm open to offers!
  14. 300 comics so far this year. I'm reading the Legend of Zelda Box Set with my 7 year old son. We finished the first two books (10 books total in the set). He's really enjoying it. It is very youth-focused, but not bad. I'm looking forward to the books related to the games I recognize. I never played the N64 games. Only 4 issues left before my 10 year old daughter and I finish the first Uncanny X-Men Omnibus! We are going to read a novel after this that a buddy of mine wrote, then go back to the omnibus #2. I never liked (and still don't) like Arcade. But the Proteus storyline still holds up well. I also love the slow burn building up to the Hellfire Club.
  15. This is a sample panel with the same halftone background style as the cover. If I go this route, I may use different background styles for each story, otherwise I think it would be too repetitive. I'm not sure that I love this, but I see the point about too much blank space.
  16. My kids are not always the best at keeping secrets. A short 4-panel webcomic from the forthcoming Dad Powers and Other Stories comic book. It's less than 30 seconds with full audio. Take a look. Please subscribe and like if you enjoy it!
  17. This is an interesting thread and there were lots of good points made. Just to get this out of the way, Berkerk was really good. The creator died before finishing the series, but his team is supposed to be continuing it. I read all all 41 volumes over the last year. Storytelling in comics is an issue (no pun intended). The constant rebooting has always been a big frustration to me as a 30+ year comic reader. I love the X-Men, but I can't keep up with all the changes and some of the storylines really suck. You may or may not like Berserk (as an example), but there's a 99% chance that it WON'T be rebooted. Characters you love will die and things will happen, and those things matter. The point was made earlier about Manga being easy to read. The example of X-Men is perfect. If you love Magento (or pick a character), what do you read? 1960's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants? His random Sliver Age fights across the Marvel Universe? Stories from Uncanny X-Men low 100s when be was aged back to an adult from a baby (yes, he was turned into a baby)? His time as the headmaster of the New Mutants? His time as Joseph? When he was evil again and led the Acolytes? His short lived series? Or his mini series? House of X/Powers of X? Warzones? Age of Apocalypse? How many volumes of Uncanny X-Men are out now? It isn't just a case of a character being around for 60 years. It's an issue with continuity and accessibility. On the other hand, if you see picture of Guts (protagonist in Berserk) with a massive sword and a cannon hand, it's easy to pick up a < $10 manga and get going. As someone said above, the price is a big factor in addition to the accessibility. Someone told a story on the boards a few years back when Thanos was the big bad in the movies. A kid walks into a local comic shop and wants to read comics about the infinity gauntlet. The owner tries describing how the movies and comics are different because of the different license owners, and there's this Thanos story that informed some themes, there's the Infinity Gauntlet TPB that's close but different, and on and on. I'm probably ruining the story, but Marvel/DC have made it very hard for new readers to get into comics with the publishing practices many have mentioned already. Finally, as a writer of children's books (shameless plus to look at my sales thread in Mixed), I do tons of reading about writing and publishing. I'm also the member of writing groups. Nobody ever talks about writing comics. Never. Well, except for me. They talk about writing graphic novels. Self-contained stories with an ISBN that you can get at the library or bookstore. Manga as a genre and Scholastic as a publisher of graphic novels are huge. I sell at tons of local author shows, and there are rarely comics (I'm referring to book shows, not comic shows). Comics are expensive. For usually less than $20, you can get a full graphic novel in color from a local creator. I still love my X-Men and other random stories sometimes catch my eye from the big publishers, but I buy almost exclusively TPBs now.
