  1. Less than $10 total from HPBs. The Mark Jeweler was a nice surprise.
  2. High resolution scans below. Some minor spine tics and minor wear. I'd say NM-/VF+ if I had to give it a grade. $25 shipped via USPS First Class in cardboard comic mailer
  3. Rules: US buyers only. Shipping is included in the price. PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, money orders, and checks accepted. Payment must clear before shipping. Returns are accepted if there's an issue not described in the ad or pics. No HOS, other list people, or anyone else I decide not to do business with. Offers welcome! Trades welcome! My Kudos Thread
  4. 146 comics so far this year TMNT: The Last Ronin. I read this last year, but read it again this year. My 9 year old daughter saw the Last Ronin figure in my office, started to ask questions about the figure, then asked to read the TPB. Such a proud moment as a dad. Great story, even the second time around. Chu Vol 1 and 2. Very entertaining story from the writer/creator of Chew.
  5. Books arrived safely with top notch packaging.
  6. Both of these were a disappointment in terms of both artwork and story. This brings me to 131 comics so far this year. It's actually a bit higher, as I'm reading the Bone omnibus (600 pages done, 700 to go), but I don't count the comics until it's all done. Also reading Chu TPBs to break things up.
  7. Premise: widowed father suffers from trauma after his young daughter was accidentally killed in a gang crossfire. He is temporarily put under a psychiatric watch. As the story progresses, you learn about the events from flashbacks. Ultimately, the father thinks getting revenge on the gang will bring him closure. He buys a gun, does minimal training, and begins hunting them.
  8. I don't have a good estimate at the moment, unfortunately. Being a writer, I'm always reliant on the illustrators, and my illustrator is a bit behind schedule. I have some updates to make on the 2nd book from some initial feedback, and I've been working on some shorter 1-page "stories" (more like comic strips) for us to use as promos. In the meantime, I have my 4th children's book coming out in about a month, so I'm working on finalizing my marketing plan. I'm also writing a dark, gritty graphic novel, so there's always something to do while I wait on artwork.
  9. Some recent comic and comic-adjacent reads. One of Those Days - a compilation of the web comic, which I had no exposure to. Fun artwork and concept. The book was described as a story in one of the descriptions, but I would argue it's not. These are single or double page slice of life spreads put into a loose sequence. One could argue that a comic must have images and that words are optional, but not really a debate I'm interested in having. Good artwork, but not what I expected. Kill Lock: The Artisan Wraith - second TPB. Not as good as the first, but still entertaining. Be More Vader - not as good as Be More Boba Fett. Words for Pictures - a very helpful and interesting read. I liked this better than Understanding Comics and Making Comics.
  10. These are the Tuki prints I won from Jeff's raffle when he was on his road trip:
  11. I only started reading it because Jeff was coming to town and I had 3 TPBs on my shelf. First 2-3 issues, I wasn't feeling. I started to enjoy it a lot more a few issues in. The TPBs stop at issue 18, and by then I was hooked. I'll get back to it after I finish my current books.
  12. Here are the signatures I got on my 5 books: 3 Bone TPBs, Bone omnibus, and Rasl hardcover.
  13. I've enjoyed this show over the last few years. Tons of vendors, good mix of items for sale, fun panels / kids activities, and decent guest list. https://www.phoenixfanfusion.com/ Partial comics guest list: Adam Kubert Alan Davis Babs Tarr Bob Hall Brett Breeding Brian Pulido Dan Panosian Dave Beaty David Finch Georges Jeanty Hailey Brown Howard Chaykin Jim Lee Kevin Nowlan Klaus Janson Livio Ramondelli Mark Waid Mitch Gerads Rags Morales Todd Nauck Tom King
  14. I made the drive to see Jeff Smith in Sedona, AZ. Jeff Smith talked and gave a presentation for about an hour. He covered the origins and evolution of Bone, talked about his new project Tuki, and shared some photos from conventions past. It was such an enjoyable event. He then spent about an hour signing and doing sketches for everyone. I suggest following him on IG and joining him in CA if you can, I think he has an appearance or two coming up. The photos have an odd green tint from the lighting in the room. But here's the promo ad, the first drawing of Bone, and an early cartoon strip. I have more photos if anyone is interested. I got the Bone omnibus, 1st 3 Bone Adventures TPBs, and Rasl hardcover books all signed. They also did a raffle (I won some Tuki prints) and handed out free bookmarks and a Tuki pin. He also announced an upcoming Kickstarter to reprint all his early Bone comic strips from his college days.
  15. I've updated my first story, Any Given Day, after receiving some feedback. I've now drafted the second story, In-Service Day, which is a whopping 46 pages! All the details on getting involved are included in the previous journal entry. Quick summary of the series: The Corgis is a new, all-ages slice of life graphic novel series that uses anthropomorphic dogs to tell absurd, real-life stories about parenting in modern times. I'm open to more comments on the first story, but I'd prefer comments on the second story. Reading both would probably be helpful, and I think someone could read both stories in < 30 minutes. No artwork, just page layouts, dialog, and panel descriptions. Thanks for taking a look at the journal!
  16. Some recent purchases. Marvel Value Stamp is massive and there were some great reviews for the book. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on Love & Rockets, all 28 lbs. of it. A few books for me to read as I work on new comic projects. I read the first Kill Lock TPB earlier this year and I really enjoyed it.
  17. 119 comics so far this year. Jeff Smith is doing an event in my state this week, so I used that as an excuse to finally read the books. A little bit of a slow start, but it really picks up and is a great read overall. I'll probably pick up an omni from him so I can finish the series.
  18. I watched it years ago and read the comics some time ago. I'm due for another run through them. Highly underrated show.
  19. Jericho: Season 3 #1 2009 signed by Scott West Cover A Scott West $2.00 Jericho: Season 3 #2 2010 signed by Scott West Scott West Cover $2.00 Jericho: Season 3 #3 2010 signed by Scott West Cover A Scott West $2.00
  20. I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I didn't know these existed. It was fun to read the thread. I'm a big X-Men fan, so I've added the X-Men and Cable books to my search list when I go to shops and cons.
  21. I took a short break from actual comics to read these two "how to" books to give me some inspiration on an upcoming project. Then back to regular comics, hitting 100 so far this year. GI Joe TPB #14: The downhill slide of the series continues, unfortunately. The 90s style art and costume redesigns are rough. Some okay storylines, but the overreliance on ninjas is too over the top. I still need to hunt down Vol. 15.
