  1. well not ALL keys are missing. The collection has a few nice ones, and the overall condition if accurate is pretty nice. I agree with the comment regarding other options of raising the 4k. You spent ALOT of time, and I assume moneys, assembling this set so far. Best way to extract the most from it would probably be to sell it off individually, but that of course will take some time. Particularly if you chose to slab the nicest stuff. Good luck with it.
  2. Broadway tickets don't necessarily have to be expensive if you are open to what show you see. Check out the TKS booths for daily discounted tickets to various shows, there is a decent variety. You won't find tickets to the absolute hottest shows there, but tickets for like 50 to 100 bucks each for many other fun shows is a pretty good deal. If you do this, check out the TKS booth at the South Street Sea Port downtown. It's usually much faster than standing in line at the Times Square location. Don't take the advice regarding Times Square to heart if you've never been before. It's an interesting place with many worthwhile spots to visit within a short walk. It is a place to be absolutely avoided if you either live here or have seen it once before. But if you've never been under those lights at night? Check it out. Just be prepared for a ton of people. Midtown Comics (Times Square location is the biggest with the most wow factor), Time Machine, Alex's MVP on the UES are just a few shops worth checking out. Who gives a if you don't get an amazing deal or even buy something. You like comics? Visit the comic shops. Everything here is over priced; It's New York City.
  3. Yep. It's fun to watch the mystery box vids. Most of those people know what they are getting into and aren't expecting fireworks, but we blow money on all kinds of all the time. So a few bucks on a mystery box for kicks is really really far down my list of things to worry about.
  4. Has modern cover collecting jumped the shark NOW? I doubt it.
  5. I don't have any problem with sellers offering mystery boxes, nor with buyers gambling on them. Who cares? Most of the youtube vids with them are just for kicks and views, fully knowing they aren't likely getting anything great.
  6. Please just open the dang box!
  7. Oh yes! Definitely. If I were you, I'd probably sell almost all my other comics and just invest in signed independent key issues. You can't go wrong, IMO. Just look for any announcements of upcoming shows or movies, then go and get those books. Slam dunk, to be honest.
  8. yes and I just shake my head in wonder every time, although I don't see it that often.
  9. I'm going to get the grader notes, but I'm pretty sure its a split spine for the most part. It looks really nice front and back.
