  1. Fair enough. Comics aren't necessities in an emergency, but fine. Limit to one customer. Any shop that lets the first person through the door buy every copy is equally as bad as raising prices on the first day of release. When is it ok for the shop to raise the price? Thursday?
  2. This thread needs a variant thread. Don't buy variants if you don't want them, but I see what you are saying. The vast, vast majority of them, no matter how hot they are on release, seem to become available after a few years for far less than the premium they might demand fresh off the shelf. So just pick up any covers you like for a heavy discount down the road! There are some really nice covers out there, some even for very reasonable prices now that they are a little older, and a whole lot of drek for sure.
  3. How is it unethical? I don't know that I agree with the approach of charging a (in this case hefty) premium for a red hot book to anyone who doesn't have a pull list, but the shop owners aren't under any obligation to sell at cover. They are a business. Now is it the best business practice to charge that premium, especially considering hot books like the current spidey story line might bring in new readers who might get turned off by the price hike? Maybe, maybe not. It's probably best to just limit to one per customer. The shops that let some person_too_unaware_of_social_graces come in as soon as they open and buy every copy would make me more upset than charging a premium for the books. By far. By a long long shot.
  4. 8 Million ways (for your comics) to Die: the CGC story
  5. Ya really leaning toward selling this one and saving up or a nicer copy then. Thx for the advice all.
  6. Except the endless discussion around whether or not anyone should pay as much as they do for variants and the hand wringing over how much to resell them for
  7. This whole thing is a turn off when it comes to the "high end variant" market. Not that I was much interested before, there are a few here and there that I think are really nice, but goodness why would anyone put themselves through this?
  8. This is really disappointing. This might be the line for me, as well. I had stopped buying moderns for a while until a year or so ago. Then I got my hopes up with the legacy numbering, and now this . Might be time to just explore other stuff and focus any money I spend on marvel on completing runs. VOLUME ONE RUNS
  9. Dang, there seem to be quite a few X-Men buds here. I TOO plan to focus almost everything on completing my 1-544 run. I want to trim my moderns down by about 600 books, and put that into completing UXM at least down through #100, about forty issues. I'd get there faster if I didn't keep getting distracted by other shiny fun things *shakes fist at Spider-Man* . I'm currently going through the whole run and making a list of under copies to replace, but unless they are keys they aren't a priority any time soon. I just like looking at my comics, so that's my excuse. I don't care too much about variants, but admit to picking one up here and there if the price is right.
  10. I can't tell for sure. It doesn't look like dirt that can be removed. It's not water stains. And it doesn't pop to the naked eye the same way the scanner picks it up. Stinks cause the rest of the book is decent.
  11. The stains on the back bring it down that much? That sucks I was hoping this would be my keep copy, but ugghh
  12. Hi all. I picked this copy up a few years ago at NYCC. I probably should have looked at the back more closely, but oh well now. Will pressing solve the issues present in the photos? The book isn't creased other than the small corner crease on bottom right FC. Its more like it was stored in a way that sort of warped/bent the far right side of the book. It runs through all the pages. The back cover is only slightly impacted. Again its not creased, just doesn't lay flat there. I tried to take decent photos of what it looks like. The back cover staining/soiling is disappointing. It doesn't show NEARLY as well to the naked eye or in photos as it does in a 600dpi scan. It doesn't look like the kind of thing a cleaning would remove, but maybe reduce it some? Anyway thanks for looking. If this is a disaster, I think I'm going to just look to upgrade.
  13. really? I had no idea. That's good news, I suppose. Ya it's a neat cover for sure. Edit: What the heck, now I'm seeing other copies with a similar spot. I'm a dum dum ha
  14. Lemme know if I should post larger scans. These are smaller than I thought they'd be.
  15. There is a weird spot, what I've always thought was an ink stain (sort of matches the red on the rest of the cover) upper left that was on the book when I bought it new (before I learned to be really picky and drive myself crazy looking for minty mint copies of every darn thing I buy). I suppose it could be something else that got on it, but I can't tell if its in the paper or on it and don't want to mess with trying to take it off. It is on the BC in the same spot as well. How does this impact the grade? And what do you all think this looks like overall? Thanks for looking!
