  1. Great stuff, Mark. Quite a few there I've never seen before.
  2. Yep. I absolutely love hearing stuff like this. (thumbs u
  3. Wow, incredible. You don't see a 1937 book in that kind of shape every day.
  4. Awesome info Mr. B. I hope you're planning to do a book about TX fandom with all of this knowledge someday. (thumbs u
  5. That. Is. Awesome. Fabulous find. Any worthwhile info in the source of the pic?
  6. Great finds as always jpepx, that Deputy Dawg pic has to be the oddest vintage photos we've seen here yet.
  7. Dear Gator -- Is that your warehouse in that Pep photo? How many sq ft? Are there various caches of vintage comics there, crated, archived, and forgotten?
  8. GREAT pickups. Tried for a restored pair of these several years back on ebay, what I thought was a pretty strong bid was blown away. Tough books indeed. Very cool, Josh - I have a nice mid-grade #2 (from RyanH), but have been on the lookout for a decent #3 for years (no luck).
  9. Good find, Wayne. That copy looks amazing in that vid. I believe Bedrock said in another thread that the higher grade Cage copy was a copy sold by Sotheby's as a VF in the early 90's. Anybody have their old Sotheby's catalogs handy?
  10. Cage did definitely own a second Action 1 which was CGC'ed and was part of the 2002 auction sell-off. That's on the record. However, here's what I find interesting about that scan: It looks like the copy in the LAPD stolen art database (note the vertical shadow line across the left third of the book, and the spine stress on the lower half of the book) Did Cage's people send them the wrong scan all that time ago? That would seem to be an unfortunate error. And of course, it makes me damn curious to see a scan of the recently recovered copy. However, It does seem to lend credence to the idea that the Tec 27 in the LAPD database is also the stolen Cage copy. But is the Tec 1 they list a stolen Cage book as well...? To my knowledge, that book has never publicly come up in connection to this incident.
  11. Yeah, I'd love to see. There's going to be a damn good story come out of this once the police investigation is said and done.
  12. Yeah, see above. When I saw that had already been mentioned, I edited my post to show the LAPD database copy.
  13. Here's the small, cropped scan from the LAPD stolen art archive which some believe to be the Cage copy:
  14. Nice! What issue of Rocket's Blast and Alter Ego are those in the bottom row there?
  15. The old school methods of holding info close as a way of trying to accumulate whatever passes for power in a hobby market is dying off. All of the excellent posters here -- and as was just posted there are many countless such people here in GA -- who share information have rightly gained respect and credibility as market authorities. This is one of the things that will propel the hobby into the future. Even a few of the folks down in OA are going to buy into this eventually (though I've had a couple debates on this subject down there). This is not to say that there is no such a thing as private info -- there definitely is. But being a credible and respected source of info has become more valuable than being the guy who has a secret.
  16. Thanks for posting it. Great photo!! That is a great photo. What's the source on that prodigy?
  17. Great info. The changes in the text story are pretty subtle.
  18. Awesome pics of comics in the shelter! (thumbs u Jpepx78, what is the source of those?
  19. Yeah, presuming it is a vintage photo, I'm a bit puzzled as to the origin of this myself. Asked Ebert if he knew the source but haven't heard back. Looks too polished to be a homemade costume. edited to add -- or something mocked up for the new movie perhaps? A viral?
  20. Here's an epic photo just posted by Roger Ebert: %20142.jpg' alt='2.gif.9fc66b13abe5d736a39bc1a668f42ae9.gif' alt='2c'>%20142.jpg'> http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/photos-in-need-of-comment/masked-avenger-photo-for-223.html Is this a known vintage costume...? Been awhile since I've read these, is it advertised in the books? Or just some sort of publicity photo?
  21. Very interesting! There's virtually nothing online about this magazine, I'd love to see some clear cover pics to see if it's an inspiration for the Flash comics logo.
  22. What is the publication just above center on the door? It's not FLASH comics, but it sure looks like the Flash logo. Action 6 or 7 would have been on the stands at that time...
