  1. Woah! The earliest comics/newsstand pic yet unearthed...? Awesome find!
  2. Oh, I know that's what he thought. He is reading only with his left eye it seems. I wish DC would repro these 26 issues with ALL the stories, as much as I would love for them to reprint the Actions from cover to cover ... but unless, they do it in a DVD format like Marvel did with its long-lived series, it simply won't happen as the market is too niche to support this program. Yet, the Atlas Masterworks at Marvel, also niche, must be somewhat successful to continue with the announcement of the Battlefield Masterworks. Sadly, I won't buy it to support the program as I am chasing down the originals. you know, I wouldn't bet against this anymore for exactly the reason you state -- Marvel is doing stuff I thought I'd NEVER see collected (and I too was pleased to see the Battlefield book on the schedule), and DC in general has done a very good job with their vintage material reprints. Tec 1 is their first book, making a prehero Tec archive part of their 75th anniversary push would be a good opportunity to do it.
  3. I have a vague recollection of an interview Dan Clowes gave to the Comics Journal, sometime in the early to mid 90s (maybe 1994?), where he mentioned Eightball selling somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 copies. I could be wrong about this - but I really don't think so. Sounds about right. I'd bet it was over 10k for sure.
  4. No, it's definitely an error book. It got a mention in Wizard at the time which is why it caught on.
  5. Wow, that is outstanding Kirby work for the period. Very interesting indeed. Going to have to remember to look up the inker on that later.
  6. NICE! Great books, I'm a big Simon & Kirby collector myself.
  7. Interesting. Pretty doable except for a handful of books, perhaps. Thanks Mike, I've enjoyed looking through your site over the years. Exactly 2064 Regular DC books plus 112 Promos/Giveaways
  8. . How many books would this be (all DC up through Feb 1951), roughly?
  9. The poor man's Detective 33. Top staple pulled, otherwise pretty nice.
  10. Yeah, I think they are very cool also. Supes 53 is one of those books that you seem to see around quite a bit, by GA standards (though extremely cool to have regardless). I think I probably lucked into my WW 45. Too bad there's not an equivalent Green Lantern book.
  11. Woah. Sweet book. The board community sure continues to pick up some absolutely killer books!
  12. I found one of these at a flea market as a kid, I bought it but was always CRUSHED that it couldn't have been a #39 by some twist of fate. Still, it did get me into pre-hero books.
  13. It'd be interesting to see census numbers alongside your running tally there.
  14. Slowly working on a Detective run, will either end it here or take it to #200.
  15. For those who don't know, Dark Horse reprinted It Rhymes with Lust a couple years back in the same size and format. Fun book to have if you just want to read it.
  16. That's Two-Gun Kid #1 from '48. A brand new book for him. One can only imagine what must be in all those stacks...
  17. Great cover, hadn't seen this before either. Love the skull brand.
  18. The whites in the logo are killer. At a glance I thought it must be a modern reprint.
  19. It was Arlin Ira Fegley's collection or was this CDNP 22 acquired by another collector who assembled the first app / #1 collection?
