  2. lolll yes maybe in a year from now it will!! Maybe the spiderman / star wars crossover treasury with the aunt may slapping darth vader panel! lollll I still prefer TEC 27 over AF15 but was to late in the game to buy myself a TEC 27. Batman will always be my favorite superhero.
  3. lolll yes maybe in a year from now it will break the 500 000$ barrier!!
  4. Agreed and as always AF15 is still the king of the SA!!
  5. Very nice congrats.....my favorite team of all time!!
  6. Very cool looking forward seen this movie!!
  7. Spidey and the rest of the main characters (this includes all key GA and SA books) will do just fine over time. You have to remember some dealers kinda hope there is a market crash so they are able to buy key books for cheap then hold on to them till they go back up in value to turn a huge profit. This is also true for some collectors hoping to one day be able to buy a book they no longer can afford. I can't blame the dealers and those collectors hoping for such a thing. Don't listen to all the the and gloom.....superheroes are huge worldwide. Yes everything goes in cycles but more like AF15 is more in demand than Hulk 1 for example then a few years later say SC4 becomes more in demand than Hulk 1....this is normal but a complete fall out is not going to happen.
  8. I long for the days when people loved comics and not the money that they are worth. You know you can do both at the same time (it's like loving someone for multiples reasons) love comics and love a hobby that can prosper financially in your favor. It doesn't make me or others like that any less comic book fans. You are free to enjoy the hobby the way you like as are other people in their own way. This is not a hobby where others chose the way you should enjoy it (and hopefully don't try to guilt you into been like them either)!! This hobby makes you happy in your own way and this hobby makes me happy in my own way and many others as well....it's a great hobby....we are lucky to live in a era where we can enjoy a hobby like this one!!
  9. Can't we just be happy for now with the current record sale of 460 000$ for a AF15 in CGC 9.2!! This hobby has much more positive potential in the long run versus many others like say stamp or coin collecting.
  10. I see the same in my city (one of the largest cities in Canada) kids talking about superheroes on a daily basis. They love them!! I hear more about Pokemon than I do superheroes. If your kids are exposed to superheroes by yourself, then yes they will be talking about them and maybe sharing them with their peers, but to the most part they are not exposed by their parents. I work with many kids and they are not as into them as you are suggesting. Do they like them, yes, but they talk and like many other things more than superheroes. Everything goes through waves. Yes I see a lot of Pokemon as well.
  11. I see the same in my city (one of the largest cities in Canada) kids talking about superheroes on a daily basis. They love them.....Spidey, Hulk, Thor, Supergirl, Flash, The Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, X-Men, Batman and so on!!
  12. Thanks for looking The search by text is for book description such as first superman, Campbell cover etc.. perhaps I need to clarify this a bit better to users, or change it to straight forward search by text. CGC is not the only company covered in the sales. I must admit I don't quite understand what you mean by Voldermort books, the Harry Potter character? He means any grading company that is not CGC.
  13. Yes I agree but I am saying 20 to 25 years from now....not tomorrow. Who says in 20-25 years they will be as revelant or that the new generation will want to drop that type of cash for a comic over a painting. I agree with Gator and feel there will eventually be a market correction and may be a glut of comics being dumped on the market as people are trying to cash out. Count my copy out from that "glut". It's staying in the family as a permanent heirloom piece in perpetuity. -J. To me that is the coolest thing hope mine stays in the family as well. If we where discussion say the stamp hobby then yes that is more dead than dead. It would take a divine intervention to bring back that hobby to life. The stamp hobby analogy might be more spot on than you meant it... There are still many old and important stamps that have value, while all the mass produced issues of the 20th century have faded alomg with the old guys who collected them. Same future for comics. The old and newer keys will retain and increase in value while all the runs, and common or unimportant issues are too plentiful for the demand. The keys will remain good investments bevause Disney will never let the characters become stale and fall out of the public eye. Generation after generation. So both hobbies will wither with the populations that spawned the hobbies... But the best items will keep their values anyway as cultural a touchstone collectibles. I'm not saying however that the 9.2 AF15 will ever be worth 3-4M ... But there's no reason to be worrying that it will crater in value. It's still in the top dozen copies, isn't it? Agreed with what you said and yes there are very few AF15's in 9.2 or higher.
  14. Are you in a buying mode right now Gator (buy cheap sell high.....it's all garbage aka doom and gloom when buying but when the time comes to sell it back it becomes pure gold....a must have no matter the price) lolllll just pulling your tail!! be careful. Tail pulling can get your hand bit off Hahaha!!

  16. Normally there are only 1 of those paintings. They are also reasonably educated in what they want to buy and do some research. Most people who have a lot of money don't have millions in cash laying around. The wealth is stored in things, so coming up with a Mill often means liquidating something else. Millionaires don't go around dropping $1MIL dollar bills frivolously. Even billionaires don't. Say that to the gentleman building the Impossible collection (he is a billionaire correct).....he will not be the last there will be more people like him over the years (he may have friends that are very rich and that may want to compete with him....that is just one example). Or the owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team he owns one of the best baseball card collections ever assembled (worth a lot of money)....and yes he is a billionaire as well. These are just 2 examples of billionaires there are more out there that collect things like comic books. So yes there are some billionaires who are more than willing to spend the money needed for the specific generation they live in to own what they want. As far as millionaires go well there are LOT of them now in the world and some do collect. Less than 10 AF15's in 9.2 or AC1's in 9.0 exist....these books will always have buyers competing for them and by doing so pushing the price up. The rest of us that can do so will be happy to own lower graded copies and with the higher grades going up in value so will the lower graded books. And not all millionaires worked hard for their money some just win the lotto or inherit it so no not all millionaires are good with their money.....a lot of them spend it like if it grows on trees.
  17. Indeed. People said the same thing 20 - 30 years ago about comics never going past certain amounts and they have all in most cases surpassed those so called ''insane'' amounts. Anyhow we shall see for now I am happy to own the books I do because I Iove them for what they are!!
  18. Normally there are only 1 of those paintings. IMO, I doubt many "investors" here are buying a book(s) for what it may or may not be in 20/25 years from NOW... that's absurd MAYBE 3 -5 years. not 20-25... Agreed but there are some like me that will hold on for 20-25 years (I am only in my mid 30's) and use the funds for a great retirement. I love my books so holding on to them makes me more than happy!! If I die first then my family will get them.
  19. Until they eventually find out how much $$ they can get for it. With you gone, so is the book. That is usually the sad fact in life but one can still hope. Like the saying goes one man's dream is another man's dust!!

I agree with Gator and feel there will eventually be a market correction and may be a glut of comics being dumped on the market as people are trying to cash out. Oh I have heard this so many times (experts and so on) even with say for example 1952 Topps Mantle cards they have peaked there is no way they will go up any further and then bang over the last 2 years a 500% increase in value over almost all grades (and it is not even a rare card most likely there are 4000 to 6000 that exist). This is just one example there are many many more (other examples the Babe Ruth rookie or Lou Gehrig rookie).
  22. Yes I agree (for me and you it's more than we will ever see but for some it is nothing.....look at all the other collectibles that people never thought would sell for millions and they do) but I am saying 20 to 25 years from now....not tomorrow. To be totally honest I don't care if they do reach those sums I will never own any of them in those grades but if I did have that money I would be a bidder for sure.
