  1. I also read in CIS policy that insurance is covered both ways. So how does one get something sent back from CGC using, say, Registered Mail, and not have to pay the additional insurance through them?
  2. Bingo- I just submitted last week with a walkthru, an Express, and some Fast Track Economy. The instructions only designated WT and EX were to be written on the outside of the box.
  3. PKJ, I hope they find it pronto. Not cool at all. My box did have 1 walkthru and 1 Express, and was marked WT and EX on the outside. Maybe they pushed it through because it had 2 "specials"?
  4. 4/20/21 Received WALKTHRU Finalized / Imaged / Shipped 4/22/21 Accepted/received on Monday 4/20 at PO, shown as received by them on Tuesday 4/21, graded today Wednesday 4/21. So in this case it took 1 day, not 1 week, to open the box and enter the submissions for a walkthrough.
  5. I said this three years ago and finally gave up and sent in last week.
  6. I know this belongs in "Ask CGC" but it is Sunday and I thought I would get a fast response here. I printed out a packing slip and now I want to remove 1 book and add another. Do I need to call on Monday or is their a way to cancel or edit?
  7. Hi- My first direct submission. I printed a packing slip and now I want to pull one of the books and replace it with another. How do I do this? Nothing has shipped yet and nothing has been charged. Can I cancel that one and create a new one from scratch, or can the first one be modified?
  8. Gorgeous copy! Sharp and clean. I guess this book finally has made the big time, I'm glad to see. I always thought it was an underappreciated Hitler cover, but not anymore! Grab it before it goes up even more. (Now I will run downstairs and check my copy I haven't seen in 9 years) GLWTS
  9. How does UPS get away with charging someone a lot more for insurance and then not pay? I have heard this was the case for awhile now but I can't seem to get over the fact they are collecting money for a service and then not provide the service. What excuse are they giving? Maybe someone should sue them over it, if you can afford to go up against their battery of lawyers.
  10. As for the subway thing, the same BS goes on where I live also. I stopped telling them what I want and wait for them to ask me in their particular order.
  11. This is what I have determined reading the last few threads about shipping and CIS.
  12. If I'm not mistaken, I think about tree fiddy.
  13. Actually, periodicals do not get sales taxed. At least in NY when I bought comics.
  14. I have 20k in insurance (inadequate with the current rise in keys) and pay $107. CIS Somebody earlier mentioned you should cover your cost basis. I respectfully disagree. I bought my Xmen 1 in VG about 18 years ago for $690. When I value my collection for insurance purposes, I don't use $690 as part of the equation. I will now use $10,000 evaluation.
  15. My business has been filing 1099's for many years now. Any payments I made over $600 to individuals or non incorporated businesses receive these. If I had an electrician rewire a building or something like that and and the bill was $601 or $6000, he gets a 1099. Businesses have been doing this for many years. It is the law. I did not like the fact they were making me the "policeman", but that's how it is. The plumber does not have to pay taxes on the $601 or whatever amount. He will pay the taxes on the profit. This 1099 thing is just so EVERYBODY knows he received it. Me, him, and the IRS. That way he need to include it in his gross sales. He can't "hide" it anymore. Even if paid in cash.
  16. I should have been clearer. Not a business, just life and new jobs. These were "small" amounts, like $40-50 k profits each time. He wishes he realized a gain of 500k!
  17. You don't pay taxes on your primary residence anymore if you sell it. Way back you were allowed a one time lifetime exclusion, then they went to every 5 years or something, and now it is tax free after 1 year I think. My brother in law sold/bought 3 houses in a matter of 10 years or so and never paid any income taxes on them. He always sold them for a little more than he bought them for.
  18. If you are audited, they will see any and all deposits into your accounts. So checks and money orders are not "hidden". Again, if you are audited.
  19. Isn't there a current thread with comments about using old school methods for payments? In the probation area? I think it was said "why would anyone want that"? Now you know.
