  1. This is a devastating story. I can't imagine what this feels like for the comic owner.

In New York State, most written agreements at storage facilities have a max cap value of $5000 per storage unit.  If you go over that, the customer is supposed to provide proof of insurance to cover the rest.  This robbery is a clear example of why this is a good idea.   Never put anything highly valuable, unique, or irreplaceable items in a storage unit.

Whatta score!  Real hard to find a pile like that out in the wild anymore. Did you buy them all?  And, I see at least two you can through the guide outta the window on...

Definitely bought them all.  They were in an old box, and I took the whole box. I couldn't believe what I was looking at; there was a lot to take in. They were on consignment, and the shop owner hadn't even put them out yet, otherwise I think they would have been gone. The shop owner admitted he didn't know much about comics, but that he was easy to work with.To feel him out, I asked him if he had an asking price if I were to take 2 or 3 of them. He said no.  I asked him did he have an asking price for the whole box. He said no.  I couldn't tell if he wanted $5 apiece or $50 apiece.  So I shot him an offer and he took it.  Let's just say I didn't overpay.  A few do have missing centerfolds though.

It's going to be awhile before I can top this one, if ever.

  3. Absolutely.  Your comments would warn and kill some of his potential new sales to people who don't know the backstory. He would need to "shut you up" by refunding, unless he likes letting the truth out about his business practices.  He stands to lose way more then your $500, so if he has any brains he should make you whole.
