This is a devastating story. I can't imagine what this feels like for the comic owner.
In New York State, most written agreements at storage facilities have a max cap value of $5000 per storage unit. If you go over that, the customer is supposed to provide proof of insurance to cover the rest. This robbery is a clear example of why this is a good idea. Never put anything highly valuable, unique, or irreplaceable items in a storage unit.

Whatta score! Real hard to find a pile like that out in the wild anymore. Did you buy them all? And, I see at least two you can through the guide outta the window on...
Definitely bought them all. They were in an old box, and I took the whole box. I couldn't believe what I was looking at; there was a lot to take in. They were on consignment, and the shop owner hadn't even put them out yet, otherwise I think they would have been gone. The shop owner admitted he didn't know much about comics, but that he was easy to work with.To feel him out, I asked him if he had an asking price if I were to take 2 or 3 of them. He said no. I asked him did he have an asking price for the whole box. He said no. I couldn't tell if he wanted $5 apiece or $50 apiece. So I shot him an offer and he took it. Let's just say I didn't overpay. A few do have missing centerfolds though.
It's going to be awhile before I can top this one, if ever.

You can highlight what you want, then right click, and hit print. It might not be great, but it usually does the job for me.

Absolutely. Your comments would warn and kill some of his potential new sales to people who don't know the backstory. He would need to "shut you up" by refunding, unless he likes letting the truth out about his business practices. He stands to lose way more then your $500, so if he has any brains he should make you whole.

Yea, you know if your grandmother had comics in the cellar, they definitely would be slabbed.

Yes, as far as I am concerned, you are one of the better sellers and deserve an explanation. That really isn't too much to ask, is it?

I thought the last one was in Alaska?

So let me get this straight...
You bought the whole load for $500
You cherry picked out what you wanted
You sold the rest to someone for $1000
He cherry picked the ones he wanted
He sold the rest for $27k?
Were you on dope? You must love your wife a lot...
That's what I got out of it also.
