  1. I wish you had told me you picked up a BA 12 at the show, I'd have given you the green light to stack up as many books off my table that you can hold in your arms....and a few of my wall books, as well. And I do not mean that facetiously, in the slightest way. I actually printed out sign on Friday night before packing up, indicating I am looking for Bat Adv 12 in any grade, raw or slabbed....had it with me at the show but I passed on putting it up on my wall, because I decided it would be a bit of a corny thing to do If you decide later that you want to sell or trade it, I'll be set up at Eternal Con
  2. Dang! Thats a nice trade, someone needs to step up and give this guy his 9.8. BTW, that previous 9.8 sale was legit. Sure. Why pay $1,400 or less somewhere else when you can pay $2,000 on ebay? -J. Ebay is the place most people look at for comics online. If you got a lead for one at 1400 sens it my way...i may pull the trigger on it. So someone thought it better to pay $2k for one with another copy for $1800 right below it ? Which is still unsold by the way. As is the one for $1650 on comiclink. This is not a $2k book. There is market resistance even at $1400. Shills notwithstanding. -J. Well, believe what you want but a boardie just sold a copy for $1999....and he posted that he was paid for the book....so, it IS a $2K book. I was pissed at myself for not holding out for $1500 last month on my CGC 9.8...sold it for $1400 cash at the Big Apple Con...also threw in a VG-ish raw French edition of # 12, as well. I knew the guy would have paid $1500, I just didn't handle the sale all that well.Even at $1500, it is still a good deal, ...I am sure he'll get 2K for the 9.8 I sold him.Hell, my 9.8 was nicer than other 9.8's I have seen.
  3. Nice! That's what I was thinking you'd get, your copy is one of the nicer 9.6's that I've seen.
  4. Yes....or am I replying to a post from last year? ....she is in talks (Viola Davis) to sign a contract to reprise her role as Amanda Waller for a total of 5 DC films so yup. CGC/CBCS 9.8's are doing well on eBay.
  5. Danzig cranked? Just curious, I don't get the reference. The only thing that comes to mind is Glen Danzig's ( of The Misfits) Die, Die My Darling album cover swipe of Chamber of Chills # 19. ...that is a book that I'd love to own http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die,_Die_My_Darling
  6. I hope the show gets renewed, it's kinda grown on me. Also, cuz I've got plenty of Hellblazer books to sell. I've got a newsstand Swamp Thing #25, 9.8 candidate that I'm going to submit to at the ECCC this month.... ....and I also have nearly a complete run of the original Hellblazer....300+ issues.... that I was going to put up on eBay at around $300 + shipping, ,once I pick up the handful of issues I'm missing. Eff you NBC.
  7. No idea who Anti Monitor is , apparently he's going to a be a big player? I looked up 1st anti monitor on ebay....and a couple listings are billing # 6 as his 1st app...There are also a couple CGC slabs up, but the sellers are billing them as "1st Wildcat App". The CGC label notes do not make any mention of either character.
  8. I don't know but all his feedback is positive and he's had some bigger sales and if it's legit that person got a good deal That sale will probably be parsed out of GPA because of the aforementioned reasons. -J. Looks like it was legit and a heck of a deal. how can you tel if a deal is legit or not? it will show up on gpa? "Non regular comic book seller", or however it's phrased, sales that still at least "appear" legit but extraordinarily low are usually speared out from the regular data points. -J. Respectfully disagree with that statement. The seller is a Top Rated Seller w/100% positive feedback (mostly as as seller) and has been registered on eBay since 2011, under the same user ID since 10/26/2011.Check his feedback. It was a BIN listing, and the only reason it sold for a few grand below GPA average is because the seller does not primarily deal in comics. That said, he would not know the market very well for the book (has no access to GPA etc etc)....and he went off past sales on ebay to come up with his BIN $9000 figure, figured he'd price it lower than other copies for a quick sale. Virtually any collector who is looking for this book, in CGC'd mid grade , would be happy to pay 25% below the GPA average for a CGC 4.5. The seller simply priced it low to sell it quickly, not knowing that he could have gotten at least another $1500 ,and probably just as quickly. GPA will record this sale, based on the fact that GPA would not be providing accurate sales data, if they did not include this sale.....and what good would the GPA be if it only chose to report higher dollar sales, of key books? You just answered your own question. GPA included it at the bottom in the "relists, non-sales & errors" section with the note " Item recorded as sold/Low feedback seller/not a regular comic book seller." I think most would agree that this is exactly how it should be handled, as a $9k sale would otherwise be misleading if grouped in with the other sales by regular comic dealers or auction-sales. Yeah, that is how GPA should have it labeled...I was just saying that t should not be entirely overlooked by the GPA as it is a recorded sale.

  10. There isn't a going rate established, yet. All copper key and/or movie related books are like this. You did alright at $30 for a NM copy. As an aside, you can always get $20-$30 for key copper books in mid grade, if you know how to present and market your books. I have gotten $25 for copies of Legends # 3 in VG/FN and $30 for Legends 1 in FN/VF, at shows in the past month. For books that sell for $150-$300 in 9.8, $30 or so for a decent/presentable copy is reasonable, for a collector. So yeah, that said, I am not surprised to see a FN- X-Men 244 sell at $27 (plus shipping).
  11. $27 sold via auction for a copy of X-Men 244 in midgrade..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Uncanny-X-Men-244-May-1989-Marvel-1st-Jubilee-FN-/121603541833?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c5022cb49
  12. Thanks for the lowdown, Chip. I'd be inclined to think the print run would have been around 5000 (50 comics per WB store) but that is just speculation based on what I have heard about the print run of other Superman Adventure books i.e. # 5 (1st Livewire, had a print run of 5000). Either way, it's cool to get some insider info on the book. Incidentally, I just took a look at my copy...it has one minute color break on the spine, I think it's a solid 9.8 candidate.
  13. What do you mean by dirt cheap? A dollar a book? If so,you'll make money on them. Here's some friendly advice: Have any 9.8 candidates graded and sell the rest on eBay.Expect to get around $20 a pop for raw NM's.
  14. I picked up a copy of Superman Adventures # 1 1996 Warner bros. Preview Edition recently. Anyone care to venture a guess on the print run? I checked the cencus, CGC only shows 1 graded copy,a 9.4 Raw copies don't seem to be offered much on eBay, I've been checking ebay for listings on this book for months.A completed item search showed only 1 sold copy listed as "VF+/NM" and 3 BIN listings from from mycomicshop, a VG/FN,FN and F/VF...priced between $40-$80.All of the mycomicshop listings were removed by MCS this month and shown as "this item is no longer available" That seems kinda strange. My copy may very well be a 9.8 candidate (can't remember offhand if it has color breaks but I know it it is pretty sweet ) after I press it tomorrow......it's been sitting at the far corner of my desk for about 3 months on top of a stack of unprocessed buys, I just looked it up and saw the ended BIN's, did a google search, which led me to this thread....... Anyway, I'll be subbing my copy at the ECCC in April. Highest graded copy? Any info on this book would be much appreciated. Here's the forementioned BIN listing (not my copy, just for reference) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Superman-Adventures-Preview-1st-Mercy-Graves-/131411479221?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item1e98bc0ab5
  15. You'll probably have been luck in the CELEBRATE THE MANUFACTURING ERRORS thread instead of a thread about moderns heating up on eBay. Thanks, that thread didn't come up under the search terms I ran. You can also check out the Recalled Comics website http://www.recalledcomics.com It's a cool site with a lot of good info, but some claims (especially rarity) should be taken with a grain (or shaker) of salt. Cheers for the tip.I am aware of that site and agreed, their pricing isn't realistic but it is a good resource tool regardless.
  16. Post up the scans and if it can benefit from a press, I can help you out. I'll be set up at East Coast Comic Con. If you'd like it pressed before the show, drop me a PM and I'll press it and bring it with me to ECCC for you to pick up and submit for grading. If interested, I can email or fax you a submission form (legally binding contract). I've got board references....incidentally, I actually pressed a 678 ASM MJ Venom variant for a boardie last month, he subbed it to CGC at the BACC on the 7th......check my kudos thread for his feedback: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=85&Number=8371768&Searchpage=3&Main=369207&Words=CopperAgeKids&topic=0&Search=true#Post8371768 I'm not really trying to make a buck pressing books for boardies now..... I would however like to build up positive feedback so if I decide to allocate more time down the line for pressing services, I'll have a springboard in place. I guess I need to specify, I meant Emerald City Comicon. You know the one...where CGC REFUSES to do onsite grading I've got a presser who I've used for years, he's the only one I let touch my..............books. But thanks for the offer buddy (thumbs u Jerome Gotcha, on both counts. And you're quite welcome, as well. I checked out the scans and while it's hard to accurately gauge any book via a scan , I will say that I agree that with a press, it'd be a 9.8 candidate. In addition to the minor 2 flaws you noted, there seems to be a few subtle tics on the back of the cover's spine but none appear to break color. CGC rarely offers onsite pressing and grading at cons, unless it is a 4 day Wizard show , I think they'd just get too slammed with a crazy workload at 2 day concs to offer on site grading, let alone on site pressing. I'd submit it at ECCC for pressing and grading ,no doubt.Good call on that

  18. Quick question about holofoil error variants.... I know that there is an error variant on ASM 375 and Hulk 400.....I think RMA mentioned earlier in this thread there's an error variant for 393, as well. Can someone post up a partial or full list of what other 90's DC/Marvel holofoil error variants are known to exist?
  19. I have never seen Pushing Daisies, been meaning to watch that show.... I like iZombie, it's light hearted and kinda dumbed down but yeah, I still think it's alright. Kinda reminds me of a watered down version of Dead Like Me, which I thought was an effing awesome show. It doesn't have he creative, more thoughtful punch that DLM had though. Oh, and other than my opinions on the show itself,I'd tooootally go down on Rose McIver....just sayin'.
  20. If it is a 9.8 candidate and you are into it for five bucks or so, just have it graded....by the time you get it back from CGC, it'll be prime time to sell a slabbed 9.8. If not, I'd put it up 300-400% of what raw NM copies are selling for now and wait intil the demand for the book increases when the storyline kicks in this summer, it'll sell then. I wouldn't bother selling it now, unless you are in dire need for the funding to cover a case of Guinness. After accounting for ebay fees and what you paid for the book, what do you stand to profit now...maybe $20? That's not even accounting for the time it takes to listing/scan front/back covers, list it on ebay time with a description....and ship it when it sells.
  21. I have nothing to contribute to this thread regarding the topic at hand, particularly anyway...... I just wanted to give Bree a tip of the hat on account of her professionalism and how much she kicks arse, generally speaking. I absentmindedly left a few books in a box of under her table at CGC's booth at the Big Apple Con on the 7th when I gave her a few submissions.....half an hour later, she tracked me down upstairs and gave the box back to me.Yeah, these sorta things happen when one gets no sleep the night before the show due to bagging/boarding new stock and consequently, one subsists on a diet of a slice of pizza and a 6 pack of Red Bulls, during the show.No sleep + an overheated room + lotsa caffiene = super sweaty, cracked out and not too quick on the uptake..... .....but Bree quickly handled my submissions with care and went a step beyond, by helping out an insufficiently_thoughtful_person by finding said insufficiently_thoughtful_person and giving him a box of books he left behind. Give the pretty lady a raise, CGC !!!
  22. I only have one CGC SS...a Tech Jacket # 1 CGC SS 9.6....it does have a sketch on it by Randolph. I'd trade it for pretty much any slabbed Deadpool, Suicide Squad or Harley Quinn books, of similiar value (around $75-$100)....I can kick in some cash via Paypal, if needed. For that matter, I'd also be up for raw books in lieu of a SS slab...pretty much anything Deadpool, Harley Quinn or Suicide Squad related. ]Tech Jacket 1 CGC 9.6 SS with sketch art[/url]

  24. http://www.theglobaldispatch.com/shazam-sandman-coming-in-2016-with-flashgreen-lantern-film-in-development-94747/ Looks like DC will be announcing the release date, at the SDCC, for the Sandman movie as/around Christmas, 2016. Good news, considering the IMDB Sandman movie page was edited a couple months back, with the release date changed as TBA, consequently slabbed Sandman 1 sales had taken a hit.
  25. As was mentioned in another thread, when you made the same suggestion, it is a bad idea to use a non-buffered board such as the BCW (or any other coated board for that matter) with an alkaline buffered throughout board such as the Gerber fullback boards. You are paying for the archival quality of the buffered board, then reducing it's effectiveness, by adding in an additional acidic load from the BCW board. The point of using the buffered Fullback boards is that you do not have to change them nearly as much (if at all for moderns) as traditional comic boards. BCW recommends changing their boards every 2-3 years. Even though the BCW boards are labeled acid free, the only part that is truly acid free by the time you get them is the coating. The only alkaline buffered throughout boards sold regularly into the comic market are from Gerber and Bill Cole. I know that BCW boards are not acid free.My advice is for short term storage....not long term. I am well aware of BCW boards degrading gerber/cole archival product but this is NOT an issue, when the products (mylite 2 and full backs) are being used chiefly for their ability to safegaurd books from damage(spine stress etc) due to mis-handling and are ONLY being used short term. What I am paying for, in this regard, is the rigid protection from using 2 thick Mylite2 bags and 3 full backs, per comic. For storing long term in a private collection, my advice would be the same, MINUS using cheap non-acid free BCW boards.
