Question: Anyone have any idea if the Enchantress will have a role in this movie? I bought a solid copy of JIM 103 a few months ago, which is in one of my two "to be slabbed short boxes". I'm kinda anxious to get some info on this book as I think the book will grade out as an 8.0.

I def prefer coupons for 4 standard subs over $150 in credit but one can hardly blame CGC for their new policy.They were basically giving away $90 in service with the 4 coupons. Partner sites do charge a fee for subbing through them so the $150 in credit reimbursement for membership does save money, if you sub a decent chunk of books to CGC. I also greatly prefer cutting down the number of people who handle my books , to just myself and CGC employees. Submission tracking is not all that important to me, in relation tothe above pounts. I see it largely as a fringe/complimentary benefit to membership.

Like Guardians of the Galaxy? Nailed it. I think the second trailer looks pretty good. I am not expecting an artistic tour de force....this isn't The Hurt Locker or No Country For Old Men. It's 90+ minutes of escapist entertainment and I think it looks as well done as this format allows.

Once the sequel is officially announced then it might get there. I have a feeling that this movie is going to break the rules for books declining in value after the movie debuts. I think this book holds its ground. I got nothing to justify it except eventually some book has to hold sway. Agreed. I sold 2 mid grades copies via BIN....at $200 a pop, within a week of listing them.Both buyers lived in Belgium and paid about $30 for shipping. Yes, that makes perfect sense to me.

9.8 NM/MT....as this grade verges on MINT....and a date stamp would be put on the book AFTER it left the PRINTER (printer=mint, IOW).....it may effect the grade. But since NM/MT is a split grade, I could see a well placed date stamp not effecting the grade. 9.6 NM+.....no issue there, IMHO.

Yup. Based on what I saw, I was 99% sure that JJ would get at least a 2nd season.

My scanner makes my slabs look like a pile of fuzzy . I stumbled onto Genius Scan + , it works very well for slabs. Genius Scan is a free app, Genius Scan + is $9 a month , I'd suggest paying the 9 bucks as it makes loading scans as quick n easy as could be.

I didn't think the book was a fake at all when I saw your original post earlier. Anyway, that is a very interesting stor.Your book is as one of a kind as can be and is definitely a piece of Valiant history. Cheers for sharing this story

This is the first time that I've seen this thread and it is completely ridiculous, from all conceivable angles. First things first....there is a grown man out there who wants to send a platic toy out in the mail for other grown men to pose in a surreal/whacked out promotional travel piece. Like if I went to see a travel agent and there was a 19 year old kid at the desk who offered me 20 bucks worth of GHB and a $5 crack vial, along with a catalog for a getaway bruise to the Bahamas. Then, 90 pages later.....there are a couple of grown men ....apparently....argueing with one another of taking said action figure into their possesion. A few pages earlier, more grown men are yammering about having to pay customs fees. ************** I have a solution, ready to go, for all of you fruitcakes Whoever has the figure....send him to me and I'll take him out on the town and snap some pics. I will pay the cost of shipping the figure to my address. I will also pay the cost of shipping Kraven to the next boardie who wants to play along. iZombie already had the mid-season finale of season 2 :shrug: From a price trajectory point of view, there's no real difference between any of the books you mention - they all had a price surge & tons of speculation leading up to the premiere of the TV show, then an immediate decline when the show was actually on air. Doesn't seem to matter whether the show is actually good or not. Heck, it's happening with Sandman #4 right now even though the Lucifer TV show by all accounts looks like it's going to be terrible. The idea of citing examples and then taking a left turn to a predetermined conclusion seems to be the way of the boards lately. There hasn't been any sale reported on a sandman 4 9.8 in GPA since mid Nov at $314. Not sure but I believe the show's trailer popped around that time. The trailer looks "Constantine-esque" or IOW, the show looks like it won't have any balls. OTOH.....Preacher's trailer looks like the show will be as ballsy as can be, for a basic cable show. IZombie doesn't need balls, per se, it is a campy piece of escapism, which is fine by me and I dig the show. I tried listing a Lucifer #1 CGC 9.8 at $275 then dropped it to $250, no takers after a few weeks.Think I'll just put it back up at $225 and let it ride, if I can net $200....good enough for me. And Junk, you're right about that, as well. hah.

Which begs the question, does the quality of the show significantly impact post hype speculation? I think the Strain was/is actually a pretty good show. Reviews on IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic etc average out at around 7.5/10. The ratings were good enough that it was renewed for a third season , which I am assuming will be the last season as that will wrap up the storyline with The Master. WRT Junk's question, I would say: Yes, quality signifigantly impacts post hype speculation, but to offer anything more than a transient uptick, the character has to stay around. As JJ is and will be, in both comic format and Netflix format( Defenders,Luke Cage). A prime example of a book tanking big time is Swamp Thing # 37.The show was as sugar coated, mass market friendly as could be; the polar opposite of Hellblazer....IOW, the show sucked a bag of , on all fronts.Critically and ratings wise. Try to get $600 for a CGC 9.8 ST # 37 now It won't happen. I Zombie has done well critically and ratings wise and has been renewed for a second season. HOM Annual 1 and IZombie 1 CGC 9.8 are doing fairly well.

+1 I can understand people not liking the show/character. But to hate it with such passion.. There's just gotta be an elevated motive for that dont you think? I can't understand the borderline simmering ragefest that is being thrown at the show, either. Elevated motive or not, it strikes me as whacked. I was not aware that the Strain had wrapped up its storyline in books/comics, that explains a lot as to the Strain #1 has tanked. Like 1Cool and Awelander have said, even if JJ does not get a 2nd season, she will be sticking around as a fuxture in other Netflix shows so Alias 1 should be a solid book over the long term.

Really? That seems like fluke if it was. That Strain 1 (not Alias 1, to be clear) was probably an auction sale.i remember it was an odd figure.So yeah, not as high as the other recent BIN sales. But the 90 day average is below $100, for sure.It is pretty much a $100 book now, last I checked.Which is more than a 50% drop off from its' 12 month average.

BUT I do think there will be a Heroes for Hire tv season at some point, like a true detective show with Luke and Danny investigating a weird case that keeps crossing the path of Jessica Jones. It is funny you mention the JJ issue, I have several non-comic friends and family who loved Daredevil but hated JJ. In fact, I just had this discussion with my sister-in-law about this subject today. I know several people here on the boards have raved about it, but how many non-comic fans liked that series? My sister-in-law just said it was dark and none of the characters were likable. I haven't watched it yet and so far I'm being told it was not good. I never read the comic, only have a passing familiarity with Daredevil when he crossed over with other MU heroes, and I did enjoy the first 5 or 6 episodes of Daredevil (another series I have yet to finish.) Is JJ a series I will enjoy? If you don't like dark, skip it. It isn't a "happy" story. I personally liked it but I like all good material whether it be lighthearted, middle of the road, or ultra violent. The villain in the TV show was much better than the same guy in the comic and I really liked how bad he was in the book. Everybody that has mentioned it to me had mostly positive things to say. These boards are the only place I've seen negatives. Also keep in mind the Alias market more closely resembles the movie hype price than it does a TV show price. It was a real long movie given how it was released. And it will be another considerable amount of time, before the 3nd season of Alias airs. The high on Alias #1 CGC 9.8 was $350-$390. Most movie/TV books tend to float between $200-$400 i.e. 100 Bullets #1 is around $225.Another example would be The Strain #1....which had a GPA average of around $275, last year. Last CGC 9.8 sold for about $60. OTOH, IZombie 1 and HOM 1 dipped considerably but were showing renewed interest in CGC 9.8, IIRC.Last time I checked was before the current season ended. Preacher 1 has outperformed Alias 1 by 300%, when the Preacher trailer hit.That was a similiarly long waited movie that became a show, albeit on Netflix. WRT the WD analogy: Sales spike at the start of each season. I was really bummed when Parker passed. I spent my first 49 years living in the Boston area, with most of it in Cambridge and Beacon Hill. I'd sometimes see Parker dining at Harvest or another local restaurant. He helped the owner of the local mystery book store build their bookshelves. Parker is my hands down favorite mystery writer. When I heard about Atkins taking on Spenser after Parker's death I was excited and fearful. So far I only read LULLABY (his first) and thought it felt a good bit like Parker although less fluid.Hise descriptions of the greater Boston neighborhoods were noticeably more stilted than Parker's. Obviously written by someone who never lived there. Does he get a better flow in subsequent stories? Yes./ I've read four of the first five by Atkins, he's smoothing out pretty well. It's a somewhat different Spenser, but it's still Spenser....and he's taken on Sixkill as an apprentice, and that relationship is nearly as satisfying as Spenser and Hawk. I believe he's going to be a worthy successor. I haven't read a Spenser novel since the late 1980s. I liked the first couple, which were more in the hardboiled P.I. tradition as I recall, but I got tired of the crutch of the near superhuman abilities of Hawk to bail Spenser out of tough situations ( I felt the same about Robert Crais' Joe Pike in the Elvis Cole novels), and the plots seemed to become more over the top thriller than gritty noir around then. This was also around the time Parker wrote the Marlowe Poodle Springs novel - which I found a pale and tedious imitation of Chandler. I'll admit to being a bit of crime fiction grump though, frequently losing interest in authors as I feel they become lazy plotters, too committed to the nobility of their central characters (diminishing their flaws as time goes on), or so enamored of their own brilliance that their material becomes near parody of their earlier work (I'm talking about you James Ellroy). Good summation on Ellroy, and in general. I have been a big fan of Hard Case Crime books for the past few years. They feature mostly obscure, earlier stories by Parker and his ilk. I've read a couple dozen of them over the past few years.They are all generally around 150-200 pages; the sort of books you can read within 2 sittings or so. Hardcasecrime.com has a full listing and you can grab them in lots for pennies on the dollar on eBay.

That is your opinion on the show and your opinion on how Marvel/Netflix operates.All due respect, both conflict with the majority that I have seen regarding Alias. The show however was a hit and there is ample material for as many seasons(s) as Marvel/Netflix agrees to.

The book will come back to its' $350+ selling point, it is just a matter of time. Looks like I will be sitting on my CGC 9.8 slabbed #1 for about a year, because I am not going to let it go at the levels it is presently going for.
