  1. Here are the other two "Pauls" I picked up Sunday:

Now I have 3 Paul books...we should start a "Paul" thread...

Yeah, the best kept secret in comics for a while. That is some collection. The original buyer sold a lot on ebay so there are a lot floating around out there. I posted a bunch of them in this thread when I first came on. I've got a lot more. Not necessarily "splashy" books but a lot of real cool obscure stuff. I was pretty obscessed for a while when they were first coming out.

I can relate to the "Paul" obsession

Give my friend Jim a buzz and he can hook you up with some. Original buyer is tapped out but Jim still has quite a few. He had a whole long box of humor stuff I'd never seen. I got a couple more of those war bond covers like you bought on ebay way cheap.

  2. Thanks RM, that is my copy but I did some special photoshopping to the title!

I've been to the west coast a couple of times and have visited my buddy who lives in Chico. He always tells me I should move out there but I think I'd miss the change of seasons over here in the east. Plus I love using our fireplace on a day like this! PS: I'm actually reading my Atlas Tales Menace hardcover.

Yeah Jayman, I know what you mean I'd miss surfing in January, all the un-rotted vintage cars, riding my motorcycle in Feb with no jacket, Dodger games, these weird palm trees, hot girls wearing very little, flea markets all year round.

You'd hate it here. Earthquakes, gun shots at night, smog, dumb blondes and and traffic on the 405 freeway. (although the Jersey turnpike might we worse some days)

    Man, I'm getting homesick already...

  3. How does CGC recognize Kansas City books? I don't believe they are marked and were found by the Thompsons so long ago. I didn't think they even documented them. I think I might have a Capt. Marvel that I got in a trade from Don Thompson a hundred years ago at San Diego con I believe.

I started a "type" collection like Strawman years ago but kind of gave up when I couldn't find (or afford) many of them.

Now, I pretty much go for the ones with distinctive markings (Larson, Okajima, ect.)

I do have a Famous Funnies can't remember which issue off the top of my head, that I have the Lost Valley, Mile High, and Central Valley copies of. Would like to find more copies of that issue I don't have.

  4. I'm trying to do as many different pedigrees in my Pep run as possible. So far I have:

    Bethlehem

    Cosmic Aeroplane

    Davis Crippen D Copy

    Edgar Church (Mile High)

    Hawkeye

    Rockford

    Western Penn

    Circle 8

    Diamond run

That's a great way to do it. Keeps in your focus.

  5. About my favorite crime title. I have a good part of the run, and these later issues combine a bit of a horror element into the stories.

"Eyes of Vengeance", the lead story in #49, would be at home in any horror comic.

Great pick-up! Yeah, most of the last 8 or so issues of Wanted have pretty good horror content. Lots of "dope" stories and violence. The surrealistic issue is one of my favorites. So is #52. Has a dope story called "Cult of the Killers". VERY wild, graphic horror story. There are some great covers on the earlier as well like the green spider cover and the devil/flame cover. These are very underrated and undervalued. (I can say this because I have most of them). Next time I'm in the box, I'll scan a few for you guys.

  6. Does anyone have a book from every pedigree? I think it would be a great sort of check list to have a book from each and every pedigree. Just wondering if anyone has actually done as such.

I believe Strawman does but don't get him started!

lol I was wondering what pedigree what the toughest to find. Or is it a pretty simple feat to do.

I would guess Allentown because it was so small. Hawkeye seem pretty tough as well (no markings). I have only one Carson City and don't see many of those. I've never seen a "Van Buren" either. Get Gator or Strawman in here. They would probably know better than me.

  7. This just arrived, it's a raw Gaines File copy in about 9.0. It set me back $200. (When this book originally sold as an individual issue back in 1990, the price was $160.)

One of my favorite George Evans EC covers, up there with Shock SuspenStories 16, 17, and 18. I've wanted a GFC of this issue for a long time. The price was just the icing on the cake.

Wow, what a deal! Has the certificate too. I've got a few, all bought from Cochran back when they came out. All raw with certificates. Most are all slabbed now.

  8. It was nice to meet you again too. Bring the JoJo next time... :baiting: Mike Carbo is a crazy guy...I'm just unique...

Yeah, Carbo is always right next to me. That dude is wild. He just can't stand still. He spends money like a drunken sailor and seems to sell very little. He always has something cool to sell me. I got a big bag of 1960's Nutty Mad figures and a cool 1940 Superman boxed puzzle that I didn't have. He gave me a real good deal on them too probably 'cause nobody else in there is into toys. He is a real good guy when you get to know him. I think he has finally given up trying to buy my collection. Now, get off here and go pet your snake!

    :o I own 31 snakes...which one should I pet?

    I don't know, I've only got one...

  10. I saw Robotman there too, but he didn't bring my JoJo...he just made fun of my "Paul" books :sorry:

Sorry Brian, I forgot and gave it to the kid down the street on Sat before the show. I'll bet you really had to whine and beat that guide to get that BEAUTIFUL Star Spangled #92 outta Jim!

  11. here's a new one for me a robot cover

    Brick Bradford 6

I got this from Robotman at the yorba linda show

yes I know Robotman selling a robot cover their must be some deeper

meaning in that I guess we'll have to wait and see

Good to finally meet you "officially" in my alter ego persona Hap. Glad you like the book. Sorry it wasn't better but I upgraded that to a nice Crippen copy a while back and didn't need two. I was kinda surprised it stayed on the wall so long at Terry's show. I'm just a small collector and I think a lot of the "big boys" just passed me by. I had a lot of obscure books, cover books and not a whole lot of Marvels and GA DC's ect on my wall. I brought about 5 long boxes of 1/2 guide SA DC's/Marvels and only came home with about 1/2 of them. Was a great show.
