"The Drawer Liner" Many years ago a friend of mine went back to the east coast to visit his dad. His dad was a "picker" long before the TV show. In those pre-ebay days a picker was a middle man. He picked items from the original source and sold wholesale them to antique dealers. While visiting his dad he was given this book with the instructions to "give it to your friend who love funny books" When my friend gave it to me I was shocked.I had never owned a single digit Batman. I said I couldn't just take it because it was worth a lot of money. He called his dad and handed me the phone. His dad said. "I was cleaning out an old house and this was in a drawer in an old dresser". He called it a "drawer liner" with some distain. He said he was going to throw it away but thought of me. He said he didn't care if it had any value and if I wanted it, it was mine. I told him how much I appreciated it and would give it a good home. It has been in my box for years and I will always treasure it!

Thanks for posting this BB. Many people just care only about the covers and tend to not pay much attention to the inside. Reinman did some cool material for the Hangman and Black Hood for MLJ.

Since I showed you the Superman club pins the other day, I thought you might want to see the rest of my Superman pins.
First up are 3 Austrailian pins from the '40/'50's. All the Austrailian Supe pins I know of:
Next are 3 Superman badges from the '40's. The round one in the center is a Canada club pin and pretty un-common. The other 2 die cut ones are US gum badges. Some where, I have the papers for them.
One of my favorites is the Superman in the Pin. It is a newspaper pin from Northern CA I believe. It was given out in 1940 to promote the newspaper strip. It is pretty large at 1-1/2" and real tough to find.
Not real rare but another of my favorites is the Superman Muscle Club button. It came in the Muscle Kit in early 1950's. Wayne Boring art. I love the colors.
Last are the 2 1939 and 1940 Superman Action comics pins, the 2 Superman Tim shoe store pins from the '40's and a Superman Pep Cereal pin.
There are only 3 or 4 other Golden age Superman pins I know of but they are so rare, I doubt I'll ever have them...

Hi Hoarder. I didn't mean to crash your thread. I didn't know you were done. Looks like you saved the best for last! Spectacular run. Those make mine look like junk. Congrats on a beautiful run. Now go for some more. I love this title!

Hi Howard. Cool books especially the Cap. I didn't know you collected GA. Keep 'em coming. You need to get a "Paul" book for your "name" collection. Are you going to be at the Toy Show tomorrow? Or Terry's the week after?
A few More from my Collection. Bill talked about writing. I decided it would be a good time to show a couple of my writers. Cap 30 has writing. Who Cares. The Cavalcade #4 was from the RJD Collection. He was a collector that bought them off the rack. He documented, where, time, date and sometime a reason he bought them. A lot of times it is done on a coupon inside the book. When my buddy was buying them from his sister, RJD had passed away, she teared up and said he loved those comics. She was surprised they had survived at all, as much as he read them. The Flash 14, just a cool Flash cover. The Boy 19 is one of my favorite Boys. Not the favorite but up there. -
Yeah, #10 is another big favorite of mine. I even like it better than Myster Mystery #12.
Because, however, I don't want to lose my "Collectinator" status, here's the full run of Worlds of Fear;I'm sort of partial to the cover illus of issue 10, followed closely by #9.

Great run fifties. This is one of my favorite PCH titles. Hey #1 and 2 have Woody covers. I couldn't pick so I just got'em all! My favorite is #13. Totally creepy! #19 gets all the love though. Guess I don't have to post my stuff...
I don't have issues 1, 2, or 23.I had 23, but it was so lousy, including the cover artwork, that I sold it. I didn't figure 1 & 2 had gory enough stories, which is why I never got them.
Shameless plug; I have another copy of Dark Mysteries 5 listed on The Bay right now, along with issue 9 of The Thing...
LOVE your run, fifties! Congrats on it! I'm about 5 of these issues away from having the same. When I complete it one day, I'll post a group shot as well!

Wow, what a load for a buck each! Good job. It amazes me that they would sell 'em so cheap but I guess their focus is records.
I will share some flea market scores with you guys in the future. I got a big pile of lower grade DC 10 centers a couple of weeks ago at one of our local fleas. Part of the fun is getting them cheap like this. I won't tell what I paid because I've seen what happens to people who do over here...

Nice rack Bevis! Good way to see books. Good Luck! I'm sure you will do well. I have the same rack and I take it to flea markets. I usually sell a ton of cheap books. Many for free to kids with their parents. Love that propeller! Is it a old/vintage one?

Awsome pulps. I like that Oct issue a lot too. I had a chance to pick up a huge load of Magic Carpet and Oriental Stories once but passed because I was stupid and didn't know any better. I did get all the horror and crime ones though.
Here are some of the Weird Tales family of pulps that I've picked up in the past few months.Magic Carpet, Apr 33, Oct 33
The Oct issue may be my favorite Brundage cover of all.

This one floats my boat! Never seen it before. Glad to see you posting again Bang. How about a couple crappy comics?

If I had a few of those I wouldn't let you in my house! Just kidding Richard, you are welcome anytime. That is simply incredible. It's one thing to see the pulp but I think the OA would take my breath away...
I like Burroughs and I like covers by J. Allen St John, too.
Was fortunate enough to visit a collector friend who let me gaze upon the St. John's original art for the cover of ERB's At The Earth's Core...
...simply magnificent!

I vote for that Startling!!! (Can't go wrong with most any Schomburg...)
Grabbed some golden goodies this week- -
Gore, man gore! The tame ones just don't float my boat. I have what I like in St John. (Annuals, great covers and good artists). But, I see no need anymore to "complete" those titles. ACG, I like the early ones (great covers and art by Williamson ect). The rest just don't jazz me enough. I will make an exception with ACG though. The Clutching Hand one shot is FULL of gore. Very unlike this publisher. Any body have a copy handy to post? Maybe some of the good panels inside? Mine is buried deep...
About the only ones I don't have near full runs of would be ACG and St. John (not lurid enough for me I guess). Since, you have probably seen most of the usual suspects, I thought I might start out with a few more obscure fringe titles. Thanks for showing those, very interesting! I too have the Roly.Poly bleedin' 'ead issue.
AFA ACG, I have fairly complete runs of the later issues of Adventures Into The Unknown, and Forbidden Worlds. I would say that each of the '53 and later books all had at least one good story, although generally not on the gore level as The Thing or Mister Mystery.
St. John, agreed, pretty antiseptic AFA gore, but they also had some interesting stories.

My first old toy purchase. Bought at the Rose Bowl flea market when I was 12. My mom was with me but made me spend my own money. I have never seen annother one with Flash Gordon markings. I have seen this a few times but without the Flash Gordon markings.
