  1. Where you been Rookie? Yeah, it's kinda tough. I think it has Harvey contents if I remember correctly. Never seen that before.
  2. Don't you just love how a guy posts a book he's been searching for and 'ole Bedrock has to come along and spoil his parade? Hey in any grade that's a COOL book and series. Wish I had one. cool cult series, and nice copy (thumbs u Thanks. It is one of those series that as soon as I become interested in it, they seem to disappear from dealers' inventories. I believe a boardie owns the 9.4 copy of this issue (the only one on the census). As part of a group buy last year I acquired a VG+ copy of Space Western #44. I had never paid attention to the series before, but it's some wacky stuff! Cowboys and Nazis in outer space are a magical combination.
  3. This big pressed steel car was made by Turner Toys in the late 1920's. Got it at an antique show from a furnature lady who didn't know any better...
  4. An odd group of Comic Book buttons. I love the "Garry Dillion Clean Comics Club" pin. The Tip Top Comics Booster isn't real interesting but it is from the late 1930's and quite scarce. The Air Warden Cadet is from the Bill Barnes comic. Polly Pigtails is kinda lame but I got it cheap and had to have it for my comic book premium collection. I don't know who Rocky Starr is. I think an Austrailian comic book.
  5. Comic book rack name plates. The DC's are very early 1940's. The other two are from a different rack from late 1940's. Wish I had THIS DC rack...
  6. OK, Here is the King of the Robots! His name is Big Loo and he stands about 4 feet tall. Made by Marx toys. He was sold only for a couple monthis in 1962 by Sears at Christmas. Many lucky kids got this from Santa. He has a million actions, talks, eyes light up, walks, arms move, shoots darts and balls from his hands. Has morse cose and sends messages and has a compass in his base. Probably more but that is all I can think at the moment. On a lot of want lists and real hard to find complete and working! I give you Big Loo King of the Robots!
  7. Yes, they state so inside. I don't know which issues but gotta be early, Nice pick-ups. Do they reprint the early pulp stories?
  8. I would say about the same. The #6 is my favorite of the two. Nice Baker girl and I love the green cover.
  9. Nice snags! The Baffaling is one of my favorite covers in the run!
  10. Awsome book, Congrats! My wife likes to tell "civilians" that "my husband likes those scarry horror comics especially ones with a woman tied up to a wheel" I guess she would be refering to this book! Tough book to find in decent shape. Congrats. Very, very tough! Congrats! Definitely a comic that would be among the last to go, in my collection.
  11. Only got a couple in "my bucket" right now. A cool Pep and this cool Hangman with one of the most graphic beheading splashes I've ever seen.
  12. In my day it was mowing lawns, turning in Pop bottles and my paper route. Once in a while my folks would buy me a couple. My grandpa was a soft touch. I'd go visit him and he would take me to the cigar store. I'd always leave with a stack. He even bought me my first MAD magazine which started me down this dark road... It was tough, with an allowance of 25 cents plus whatever I could make shining shoes in the warm weather, it was truly a hard decision when making a selection. I too stayed with mostly DC's as they were the easiest to find...but I couldn't pass up any Number One issues. mm
  13. Not that one and if I did it would probably be a beater...
  14. I'm sure you are right. I like Fuje a lot too. There is lots of creepy horror stuff in MLJs! Paul Reinman was pretty tame when working for DC but he made some gruesome splash pages for MLJ. Thanks for posting this BB. Many people just care only about the covers and tend to not pay much attention to the inside. Reinman did some cool material for the Hangman and Black Hood for MLJ. I don't see any work on Hangman but did find Reinman art for Bentley of Scotland Yard (Pep 32 above) and Fireball in Pep. George Storm (the creator) did that very odd early work on Hangman and King did some work in the middle. Fuje did a lot of great work on Hangman before Archie chased him away.
  15. Sounds creepy like this. I will have to see if I can find a copy. Thanks for the tip. There's a cool Tim Powers' novel called Anubis Gates where a terrible clown named Horribin keeps a beggar army that he disfigures for more money in 1800s London. Not to lay down a spoiler on you if you haven't heard of the book, but it turns out Horribin was the child of a beggar king and he was disfigured by his own father! Pretty creepy. But there was a wild sequence where poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge is overdosed with Laudanum and he wakes up early and finds himself down in Horribin's dungeon interacting with all of his "mistakes". Love that novel!
  16. Hi Howard Not a whole lot. There were more people than usual with old comics. Jim brought some as did another guy with some nice (but pricey) GA and SA. The finder of the"Paul" collection was there and a got a few more "Paul" books. 3 early Capt Marvels, 2 Tracys, and a Sensation. He was the guy I got the 3 Shadow books from. He had only 1 pulp left a beautiful copy of the Weird Tales with the bat girl cover. He had an "I don't want to sell it" price on it. But, he was heavily discounting the comics. I got an old Wonder Woman and Kid Colt Outlaw with a Kirby monster story. I got a beat Whiz #29 and Tom Mix Ralston #6 from Vinnie for a song. That is all I got except for an unusual old Popeye pinback. Had fun and made some dough. See you next time!

  18. Nice books Howard. Although my first choice would be the Cap, I love that Flash Halloween cover a lot. I guess I will add it to my want list...
