  1. Yeah, we gotta meet face to tin one of these days! Probably not at San Diego though. Too hard to get in, too expensive and the crowds just kick my butt. I haven't gone for the past two years after going to all of them byt 4 I think. I'm OK with it. Plus it is about the same time as the Portland Expo Antique Show. I go with my wife because she is an antique dealer. I always find a ton of stuff including always a decent load of old comics cheap. Best indoor antique show in the country!
  2. Looks like a lot of them came from Jim Malley. By the time I got to him he was pretty cleaned out of the superhero stuff. I did see the Moon Girls but also had all of them already. If you feel like bending over hard, you could call Storms on the Caps. I just couldn't justify the prices "Pauls" or not...
  3. Schomburg is one of my favorite artists. I also like his xela work a lot. But this just doesn't float my boat at all. I was pretty sure the stories sucked. You won't have any compettition on these from me.
  4. Also got these very large Star Wars guys in the same deal. All very nice condition. The R2D2 is battery operated. Again, I don't know who the brown guy is? Can you help out with a value? Many thanks!
  5. Got lucky and got to go "junking" early Sunday morning. I found these for what seemed pretty cheap. Since I don't do modern toys much I wondered if you guys could give an idea of what these might be worth? I know a few are damaged and I think Shazam's cape belongs to the other Batman. Don't know who the girl missing an arm and torn outfit is...
  6. Ted from Superworld had some real nice Atlas books at Wondercon this weekend.
  7. Sure... Another pointy cover. I was the 2nd high bidder on the Love Journal that closed on the bay last week. I was a little shocked at what it went for. I really thought I had "manned up" but guess not. Did a boardie get it? In a way, I'm just as glad because i know if I am patient I will find a shmoo who prices it at "guide" sooner or later. Romance is HOT! Sooo, you were the one who bid me up! I guess, but it appears like we were BOTH losers though...
  8. Here's another tough to get "pointy finger" cover!

  10. A cool Yellow Kid pin cushion. Also an early Amos and Andy paperweight.
  11. Maybe my favorite. Circa 1940 Force Cereal box advertising the Superman radio show. A complete box as well. Only one of these I've ever seen!
  12. A 1950's Kelloggs Corn Flakes "Flying Superman" box. Even drawn by Norman Rockwell!
  13. This one is cool. 1940's Quaker Puffed Wheat Sparkies box offering the Terry and the Pirates Gold Dector Ring. What kid wouldn't want one of these? This box is complete and very nice shape. Condition is not an issue if you collect these fellas so when you find a nice one you've scored!
  14. A 1950's still sealed full box of Carnation Corn Flakes featuring Woody Woodpecker with one of the drawing lesson cards.
  15. Annother Rin Tin Tin box from Nabisco Shredded Wheat.
  16. A couple of Rice/Wheat Honey boxes with Rin Tin Tin stuff from mid 1950's. The one an the left came from Bedrock several years ago at San Diego Con.
  17. So, since I am OD'd on comics, I'd show something different today. Vintage cereal boxes. I love these and actively search them out. I've got quite a few over the years. These were not ment to be kept. Who would hang on to them? I like them because I collect premiums and these had ads and offers on them for the cool little devices a showed a while back. The ultimate to a premium collector is to have the device in mailer with papers and the cereal box that offered them. There are also VERY hard to find and a nice challenge. Here is a Quaker Oats cannister type that offered the Roy Rogers Branding Iron ring from about 1949.
  18. It's been a crazy WonderCon, Flea Market, Easter weekend but I'm back. Had fun at the con. Got to chat with Hap Hazard and Sacentaur a bit. I was supposed to meet up with the legendary Mitch but got an urgent work call and had to leave early on Sat. My observations. A little thinner on dealers. No Terry, Bud Plant, or Richie Munchen but still some nice out of state dealers. Had to pass on High Grade and Greg Reese (no GA to speak of). I don't usually buy much from Harley but actually got a few from him. Had fun hanging out with Redbeard who I don't see much. Spent most of my dough with Ted of Superworld, Jamie Graham, A-1 and Saul of Oddesy. All good guys with a nice selection of affordable accuarately graded and priced books. I kept going back and buying more since there wasn't as much at this show. A few smaller guys as well. Thanks guys, I appreciate you all being there! It was hard to find stuff I really wanted bad. (MLJ, Ace, Prize, Catman, Nedor) are my focus right now. I was willing to "man-up" but the selection of that stuff just wasn't there. I was able to get the last issues I needed of a couple pre-code horror titles, Marvel Tales and Mystic. A few Timelys, DC's a cool Planet, some Baker romance and a couple of ACG weird romance. Otherwise a real mix of all other genres and titles. Had to work HARD to get them but overall very satisfied. I found I could really do this show in one day if I had to. I like to socialize after I'm done picking and still found time to do that as well. I feel very fortunate to have a show like this in my back yard. I know a lot of you guys have way smaller shows in your area so I am not complaining. A fun couple of days. I've got a nice pile on the table to go through and will post my finds for you in the next couple of days as I get some time.
  19. I rarely if ever buy anything from Harley anymore but I actually did get 3 books from him this weekend. It is REAL hard to get the best of him but I think I actually did.
  20. Yeah, yeah, yeah rub it in. I have the first one but am going to get a copy of #2 one of these days...
  21. Sure... Good to see you at the show Steve! Great pick up! Did you get that from Harley? I think I got the "other" one. Not much in the way of better romance books there. I got another one of these cooler ACG's and a couple scarce (I think) love books from Heroes on Friday. Got some cool books but really had to "work" the room for them.
  22. Jeez Bill that is amazing! I officially crown you king of the "Paul" collection. What did you do, rob a bank? 36 books is more than I picked up at Wondercon in two days! I remember seeing a lot of those in Joe's boxes but already had most of them and I was on to "other" fish. I saw the Moon Girls at A1's booth. Nice copies and very scarce. I am assuming most of the rest came from Jim Maley's booth. We're you there? Bob Storms had two of the few Caps in the collection that Ed originally got from Joe. I considered them but the were at "High Grade Comics" prices so I walked. I'm kind of embarrassed to post the 3 measly "Pauls" I got from Jim...
  23. Nice pick up Hap! Good seeing you at the con. Those early ACG's are beginning to grow on me. Very moody. ACG is one publisher I don't have a lot of but think I might finish of my early runs.
  24. Here is a Buck Rogers Sonic Ray Gun from 1953 in original box with papers. I love the graphics all around it. The list of "features" is also fun.
