Now that’s quite the pickup! Congrats!

Flea market pickup today. Not really a pulp but mostly fiction stories. The cover and age just made me grab it.

Got this one in today. Down to 3 left. Buy them when you find them. Overstreet lists as scarce and I concur. Can’t remember seeing a copy for sale in many years. Maybe in one of the big auction companies, but I rarely look there. Someone found a few coverless ones that got snatched up quick. This is the type of book I go to conventions for but never see. And what a cover. Dare I say “classic”? I know Feldstein did very few romance covers. But some incredible ones. I won’t post in the Romance thread as I don’t want to make all those Atlas covers look bad…

Got that one for Christmas when I was a kid. Was my pride and joy. Rode it to bits along with my Sting Ray Lemon Peeler bike...

Yeah, I got him to sign at at the Hot Rod Hootenanny at the Moon Records parking lot show. My buddy got an old toilet seat painted with a Rat Fink airbrushed treatment.

These are all Marx Nutty Mads. The second row are the scarcer third series.

Actually the Tony Hawk and 1970's era boards are in the most demand out here.

I plan to attend although haven’t bought my ticket yet. I agree about updating their website. I will go either way but sure would like to know what dealers will be attending. You know, they know by now. Just added incentive for those on the fence. WonderCon was just as bad. No list until a week or so before the show. A couple years ago, Torpedo pulled the plug on their show. They said it was a “schedule conflict” but I suspect it might have been due to lack of pre show ticket purchases. I believe a lot of folks were waiting to see the dealer lineup. It is, primarily a vintage comic buying show. I would sure like to give my money to CGC at the show for some grading as well! So, that being said, I will put my money where my mouth is and buy my ticket this weekend.

I knew you would find this fun. I thought the art in this book might be of interest to comics folks. You just have to be the right age. I loved monsters and cars even at a very young age. The perfect storm. I have a pretty decent collection of early ‘60’s “monster driving cars” artifacts. Although, my collection has slowed down, I still pick up things here and there. Although the Roth stuff is top of the heap, I also have quite a bit of “Weird-Ohs”, Lindbergh Loony’s and related stuff as well. Like anything that gains popularity, there are always imitators.

A great choice and looks wonderful for the number grade. Glad to hear it is being cracked. A good decision. Baker is like crack. Hard to stop at just one.

Found another piece of my childhood. Was stashed away and I just turned it up. An original first edition and uncolored unlike my original one. Roth was one heck of an artist. This book is full of this great art. I spent many happy hours building his models and in the process sniffing that glue…
