Why is there no Platinum Age Forum?

Killer book! I had one once but gave it to a friend for his birthday. Has all the characters of the era in it. -
I have collected ECs for over 40 years. Other than a very few, they are fairly available in all grades. I have owned some many times and a couple only once. Since the dawn of collecting, they have always been very popular and never cheap. Lately, I’ve seen a bit of an upsurge in price especially on the horror and crime titles. The rest are pretty affordable in reader grades. The war titles are, in my opinion, a real steal at current prices. Best books for the money in the hobby. Good luck in your quest!

Jeeze, I never thought I would have to read a legal contract just to buy funny books. Looks like they have all the loopholes closed in their favor. I certainly don’t think I should have to spend my time and waste my money when it is clearly their fault. And “credit”? Are you kidding me? I want my money back including postage promptly. A humble apology wouldn’t be out of line either. Now, if I don’t know how to grade or know how to detect simple resto and have to send it to CGC, it might be a different story. As I said, there are plenty of very upfront dealers out there that respect their customers that I would rather give my money to...

OK, the rest will be early Brave & the Bold. A nice group. Overall condition is in the VGish range + or minus. All are solid copies with bright color, supple and complete with book and centerfolds bound tight to covers. I will just list anything not shown or I think I needs to be pointed out. Brave and the Bold #12 July 1957 Kubert and Heath art Tiny tear at top of spine. Neat 1/2" spine split at bottom. A few light wrinkles on back cover. $50.

SOLD via PM OK, the lone GA this time... Your United States (only issue) 1946 Lloyd Jacquet Studios Fun book with an entire page devoted to each state kind of like Ripley's Believe it or Not. The good doctor Wertham had some fun with this one and it is mentioned in detail on pages 309-310 of Seduction of the Innocent. Offending panels shown below but he missed so much more... A nice, flat, tight, complete copy. Has a light lower right corner crease. Also a small light white substance across the girl's body in middle left. Tiny tear at top, right edge. Cover and centerfold bound tight to covers. Supple interior paper with no damage. $45.

Just a small quick one this time. A few cool books I just picked up recently. Most are early Brave and the Bold. Great stuff I rarely see. The art is excellent in these with Kubert and Heath at the top of their games. A couple nice greytones in the mix. Check 'em out... Rules: No problem children or HOS members. Postage is $6.00 each for up to two comics, very well packaged. I will combine postage on multiple purchases. All will come with tracking. I prefer to sell only to US addresses but might make an exception if I know you. PM's and offers... I am trying to sell this stuff and want to get as much listed as I can. I try to price fairly. I probably won't have a lot of time to review PMs if I want to get this stuff listed. An "I'LL TAKE IT" icon takes it first. So, keep that in mind if you want something. When I get done, I will review PMs (in order of when they came in). If you have a question (other than a lower offer) post it and I will try to answer you. Paypal, checks and money orders are all acceptable forms of payment. Returns: No hassle returns within two weeks from when tracking says it was delivered. Return postage is on you unless I make a gross error and in that case I will "man-up" and pay return postage. I don't expect any returns though as I've only had 3 or 4 in 40 years. This stuff all comes from a smoke filled, varmit infested, mouldy junk house. (Just kidding!) Here we go...

Did you return them? What was their response? If so, I'm sure they didn't refund your grading costs. Just a waste of my time. So many more better options out there.

Like I said "shifty"... Personally, I haven't bought from them for years. Questionable grades, and high prices. In person just "shifty", like someone is smiling at you and shaking your hand while using the other hand to grab your wallet out of your back pocket. They do have the best stock around as a rule. Why I don't know. Do they pay the best prices for stuff, connections or what. If you really want a book bad and are willing to roll the dice, might be an option. I just get the feeling that I am not their "business model". The listing above appears to be a "qualified" grade even though they don't state it as such. I believe I could make a pretty good decision weather or not I would purchase this book. The price appears to be more than I think it's worth all things considered. Like I said, aggressive pricing and slightly misleading grading without ever seeing the book makes me move on quickly. Heck, because of these factors, I don't even consider them when buying books...

MAD Magazine for me. Started with #72, kept buying them while working back any way I could. Friends, garage sales, flea markets and used book stores as well as early mail order dealers. Long before the internet...

Exactly what I think. Composition and detail. Also color and those greytones... Plus he did most of the interior art as well. A real bargain I think.
