  4. Brave and the Bold #13 Sept 1957 Kubert and Heath art Spine is a little rougher than the rest. A tiny piece out close to the bottom staple due to a tiny tear. Book and centerfold still bound secure to covers. $45.
  5. OK, the rest will be early Brave & the Bold. A nice group. Overall condition is in the VGish range + or minus. All are solid copies with bright color, supple and complete with book and centerfolds bound tight to covers. I will just list anything not shown or I think I needs to be pointed out. Brave and the Bold #12 July 1957 Kubert and Heath art Tiny tear at top of spine. Neat 1/2" spine split at bottom. A few light wrinkles on back cover. $50.
  6. SOLD via PM OK, the lone GA this time... Your United States (only issue) 1946 Lloyd Jacquet Studios Fun book with an entire page devoted to each state kind of like Ripley's Believe it or Not. The good doctor Wertham had some fun with this one and it is mentioned in detail on pages 309-310 of Seduction of the Innocent. Offending panels shown below but he missed so much more... A nice, flat, tight, complete copy. Has a light lower right corner crease. Also a small light white substance across the girl's body in middle left. Tiny tear at top, right edge. Cover and centerfold bound tight to covers. Supple interior paper with no damage. $45.
  7. Just a small quick one this time. A few cool books I just picked up recently. Most are early Brave and the Bold. Great stuff I rarely see. The art is excellent in these with Kubert and Heath at the top of their games. A couple nice greytones in the mix. Check 'em out... Rules: No problem children or HOS members. Postage is $6.00 each for up to two comics, very well packaged. I will combine postage on multiple purchases. All will come with tracking. I prefer to sell only to US addresses but might make an exception if I know you. PM's and offers... I am trying to sell this stuff and want to get as much listed as I can. I try to price fairly. I probably won't have a lot of time to review PMs if I want to get this stuff listed. An "I'LL TAKE IT" icon takes it first. So, keep that in mind if you want something. When I get done, I will review PMs (in order of when they came in). If you have a question (other than a lower offer) post it and I will try to answer you. Paypal, checks and money orders are all acceptable forms of payment. Returns: No hassle returns within two weeks from when tracking says it was delivered. Return postage is on you unless I make a gross error and in that case I will "man-up" and pay return postage. I don't expect any returns though as I've only had 3 or 4 in 40 years. This stuff all comes from a smoke filled, varmit infested, mouldy junk house. (Just kidding!) Here we go...
  8. A lot of great Atlas books lately. I much prefer EC war though...
  9. Did you return them? What was their response? If so, I'm sure they didn't refund your grading costs. Just a waste of my time. So many more better options out there.
  10. Like I said "shifty"... Personally, I haven't bought from them for years. Questionable grades, and high prices. In person just "shifty", like someone is smiling at you and shaking your hand while using the other hand to grab your wallet out of your back pocket. They do have the best stock around as a rule. Why I don't know. Do they pay the best prices for stuff, connections or what. If you really want a book bad and are willing to roll the dice, might be an option. I just get the feeling that I am not their "business model". The listing above appears to be a "qualified" grade even though they don't state it as such. I believe I could make a pretty good decision weather or not I would purchase this book. The price appears to be more than I think it's worth all things considered. Like I said, aggressive pricing and slightly misleading grading without ever seeing the book makes me move on quickly. Heck, because of these factors, I don't even consider them when buying books...
  11. MAD Magazine for me. Started with #72, kept buying them while working back any way I could. Friends, garage sales, flea markets and used book stores as well as early mail order dealers. Long before the internet...
  12. Exactly what I think. Composition and detail. Also color and those greytones... Plus he did most of the interior art as well. A real bargain I think.
  13. Those are cool. I have never run into any of them though.
  14. I probably do but have never noticed. I was primarily buying ECs and PCH not DCs at the time.
  15. Those books are poor. I have no problem with qualified though. Still poor but the qualified grade represents what the book looks like in a slab. If you are buying a book mostly for the cover, it is an affordable way to getting a nice looking book. The problem arises for me when the seller prices the book at the number on the green slab like it were a blue slab. The way they listed it although a little shifty tells me weather or not I want to pay that amount for a incomplete book...
  16. Thanks, that says a lot for me. I do not have any pin-ups in mine. A very common occurance in books like this. It looks like the wrap below the centerfold had pin-ups on two pages and were torn out. I will pull mine out again and compare the pages in my copy.
  17. Pretty much all PCH has taken a steep upsurge in pricing. Even the more "tasteful" titles and companies. ACG's for example and the non-Wood Avons have been stagnent for years. Even Ace comics that you could barely giveaway not that long ago. Even some of the better cover ones. The St. John horror books (other than the Baker covers), have sat in dealer's boxes due to their poor content. They are all rising steadily as the big boys continue to soar. I have pretty much given up on Star as well. L.B. Cole covers are off the hook but when you open them up, the interior content is a little sub par to me. Even low grade copies. For every few people willing to pay for a high grade one, there are 100's of poor schmucks, just trying to get any copy they can. I have collected them for 45 years. I remember when no one wanted them other than EC's. They started catching on and up went the prices only to level off when people thought they were to high only to take off in a few years again. It is what it is. Just so glad I got most of mine back in the day. I doubt I would pay today's prices for them.
