  1. Anybody else love these as much as I do? Probably my favorite Heath period! Literally impossible for me to pick a favorite
  2. Oh, I’m not complaining. I was over the moon to get these with first pick. I probably got 20-25. Best pulp load I’ve ever seen in the wild.
  3. So cool, take the Scrooge’s for me. My run ends at 40...
  4. For my dime, I choose Young Allies. I mean, WWII, Nazis, Bondage by Schomburg? Do you need my address to send it to?
  5. I'd be scared to mix a book like that Crypt into my collection. I can deal with most all defects for the right price but there are some that just won't cut it. Mold, brittle or for the most part rat chews. Some times tape. Instant returns for me...
  6. That is true. But I was first on the load. Just didn't know any better. It was early on in my collecting career and funds were limited. So I grabbed the ones I wanted the most without a whole of thought to the ones I didn't. Believe me, I went home happy. Here are some of the ones I got.
  7. Aren't all the Farrell war comics violent and gruesome? This one is especially sad.
  8. I too have an incomplete Miss America #1. I bought it from a dealer that told me it was complete. I quickly proved him wrong and got it for a song. Took me a while to figure what was wrong. It has 44 pages. The Grand Comic Book Database states it should have 52 pages. I knew right away the centerfold was missing. (see photo #1). But there is the remenants of 2 torn pages. The first story is complete "Baron Shinto the Gouger". Then there is a torn page and the next story "Mystery of the monster men" starts. This is where the centerfold is missing. The story ends on page 14 but is not complete. This is where a wrap is gone I believe. Then comes the Miss America contest (1 page). The book concludes with a complete story "Murders by Yogi". The grand comic book database does not mention any ads including the Miss America 1 page contest so not sure what else is missing. It's a mess but was real cheap. At first I thought all I would need to complete it is a centerfold but now it looks like I should probably just find a complete coverless one. Hope this helps.
  9. Can't help myself I just gotta re-post this cool 2 volume bound set of Scrooge #1-40...
  10. Got this from Harley a couple years ago. He swore it was a San Francisco. Not entirely sure. No Riley stamp on back and only a SF style "G" on cover. It is from March 1943. What do you think?
  11. Interesting, the Hit and the Marvel Mystery appear to be similar distributor markings...
  12. Great book and one of the corner stones in any Disney collection!
  13. Great book don’t get me wrong, but there are millions of very high grade copies out there. I don’t understand why this is “worth” $500 even in 9.8...
  14. There are far better ways to impress a girl than to take her to a show to watch you spend $500. on a funny book... You better have another $500. to buy her something nice, take her out to a fancy restraunt or away for a short romantic weekend. I'd leave the girl home so she doesn't know what you are spending on comic books... And, as to the original poster... I'd pick out a real nice cover PCH slabbed book. These are so solid it's crazy.
  15. I'm a fan! Although I only have two of them. I got them at a flea market many years ago. A huge collection surfaced for $5. each. I didn't know much about pulps at the time so I bought all the horror, crime and wild covers until my money ran out. I watched a guy scoop up a whole bunch of Oriental Stories, Magic Carpet and the Weird Tales I left because I didn't like the covers of as much. As I said, didn't think much about it because I was completely unfamiliar with pulps at the time. Probably the best load of pulps I've ever seen or will see...
