If any of you super secret LA boardie lurkers want to know about the next meet up, PM me and I’ll get you on the list. Don’t worry, I won’t out you...
-
As Superman Tim club members, you were also given cool, super secret, decoder membership cards and buttons!
-
I know there are several cool 1940's ones that I don't have. If anyone has any not shown here, I'd love to see them!
-
Last one I've got today is this simple one color 4 pager given in the 1958 Superman Halloween costume. Kind of scarce.

On to the 1950's Kelloggs gave this one out inside cereal boxes in 1954. Has 2 stories from Superman #55

Back soon with a bunch more...

Here is a group of Superman Tim giveaways. These were given out by local clothing stores to kids from 1942-1950. You were also able to obtain membership cards and pinback buttons as well. Here is a handfull of the ones I have.

Was going through the junk pile this weekend and found a bunch of old Superman giveaway comics. This one is Overseas Comics distributed to the US Armed forces. Each issue had full pages of the current newspaper characters including Superman. This is #27 a 1944 issue.

At this point, I don’t know that it ever needs to be in “print”. I would be happy to just have it complete and on line. Problem is that the authors are never really going to get much if any financial gain for doing it. Pretty much a labor of love that gets on the way of their day jobs.

That book slabbed is a crime. Lucky for you, you have the great reprint book to enjoy all that Feldstein genius!

Shad, if your pin looks like the one in the lower left corner it is probably the 1939-1940 one. From left to right in bottom row are 1939-1950, 1948, 1955 and 1961. The small one at top was used for a few months in 1942 I believe to save money for the war effort. The one next to it on the right is the British 1960's version. (only one I know of). Hope this helps...

Ah, shucks... Me love you long time Ray. You’re not bitter at all. Is this the ring you are talking about? It originally came with red enamel but sadly, most of mine is gone. Happy to have it anyway...

I'll pound you to a "Pulp" if you don't show off yours!
Robot Man replied to mr.schomburg's topic in Pulp Magazines
I have actually had a little better luck finding pulps rather than older comics at antique stores, flea markets and estate sales the past couple of years. Now mostly sci-fi and western but have picked up some crime, Weird Tales and others as well. -

Moe’s Books in Berkeley? -
Killer book huh Ray? ‘Ole Robot Man never steers you wrong!

Looks like the 1939-1940 one although the picture is coming out a bit distorted. The button is how you can tell. Got a better pic of it? There were a lot of them issued and are still around. Either way, $200. Although not a steal, is still a very fair price.

Thanks. Although I have no hope of ever finding the covers, I am stoked to have it at all. I had Jerry Robinson sign the Joker splash a number of years ago at SDCC. The story how I got it was amazing. Probably the best comic find I've ever had in the wild...

Loss of Friendly Local Comic = Diminished Interest in Hobby?
Robot Man replied to the blob's topic in Comics General
My LCS does not sell back issues or vintage stuff. Just current stuff, action figures, t-shirts and I guess magic cards. I no longer buy moderns just supplies once in a while. Nice, clean, friendly store but not a place where people congregate. Just in and out. I like the place and it is convenient for my needs but it wouldn't affect me it they went away. There is an area near buy that at one time had probably 20 antique malls, a comic store with some back issues and a vintage record store. Most have been driven out due to high rents and either replaced by little restraunts or remain empty. Bums me out as I used to find lots of stuff in that area. No comic stores in my area (LA) that carry any significant amount of back issues (especially GA or SA). At least there are a decent amount of used record stores around to scratch my vinyl itch. -
I didn’t know there was a Bill Elder collection. I have a few from Johnny Craig’s collection as well as a Kurtzman and Feldstein file copy.
