  1. Any body want a Capt. America Sentinentals of Liberty kit for a mere $2,800?
  2. This is Willie’s booth. We all can’t wait to see what he brings. He is a movie prop guy with deep pockets and high prices. His passion is also comics although he rarely brings any here but some sweet superhero toys along with killer advertising and hot rod car items.
  3. I say it every time and this time I really mean it. I am truly “junk drunk” today. Four days of buying every thing collectible. I used to do a 3 table booth but down sized to just one 8 foot table. I find if I pick what I bring carefully, I do very well. Just as well as 3 tables with 1/3rd the work. Got a pretty good idea of what people want here. There is stiff competition in there. People bring their best high quality (and price) eye candy. I do too but a little less of that but more $10-$100 stuff for the little guys and casual buyers. People have very little problem parting with $20 and $50 bills in there. At the end of the show it really adds up and I go home without a lot of stuff. 4 or 5 bigger sales are the ones that make your day but the smaller sales all day long add up fast. My pal Rusty and next table neighbor, brought a great array of stuff and this greeted me when I rolled my cart in!
  4. My buddy Johnny "Kookie" Kousakis. A LONG time dealer I've known from the earliest SDCC days. Had a comic shop in OC for years. You should have asked for Disney BLBs. I know he had a few high grade ones in his booth. He also brought a MASSIVE collection of mostly war and avaition pulps including publisher bound volumes. I bound a few sweet Friction House Wings issues from him. He's a regular veteran flea market shopper with a great eye as well.
  5. Hey 50, good to see you on Saturday! Glad you could make it and enjoyed it. It really is a wonderful show if for nothing else to wander around and see the best of American Pop culture. The dealers work very hard for this one and save the best of the best of their stuff for it. You just never know what can turn up here... This is my friend Randy's booth. He's the guy in the middle back with the dark green shirt and cap. I've known him over 20 years. This guy lives and breathes junk. He is out literally everywhere hunting down cool items. He personally collects old advertising stuff. Has a full size Big Boy (from in front of the restraunt) in his living room. Even a life size Jolly Green Giant in his bathroom! Killer stuff all over his house. His prices were probably the best in the room.
  6. Great books, fair price, sent fast and packaged well. Mick is a first class boardie to deal with. Will be happy to transact with him any time!
  7. Had a busy show today. I will try and take some pics tomorrow morning and will post them as soon as I can. In the meantime, the promoter posted a cool video on Instagram. His name is the_glendale_show. Check it out. Some awsome stuff including comics.
  8. There is a great video by the promoter on Instagram by the_glendale_show check it out!
  9. Sadly no, it was a gift from a friend who was there. Never seen another complete one.
  10. Don’t pay any attention to D84. He sounds like probably a sour transplant. LA is a very fun city. What are you into? Like any big city, there are places you probably shouldn’t go or would want to. As has been said, Santa Monica, the South Bay and SE Long Beach are cool areas. Traffic can be a beech certain times of the day. I would recommend Santa Barbara. Hour and a half north of LA. Very beautiful and historic. What do you like to do or want to?
  11. Got my truck packed for tomorrow and Saturday. 8-17/17. I will have no actual comic books but some nice vintage superhero toys and premiums. Come on by and say Hi if you are in the LA area. Incredible toys and advertising.
  12. Mail man brought me a cool IW today. Reprints Man O’ Mars with a better cover!
  13. Drive up Highway 1 from LA to Canada if you have time. Takes a while but one of the most beautiful drives in the world.
  14. Once he saw what it was worth ANY negotiations just went out the window, Too bad, it was a beauty...
  15. I W’s are weird books. Very cheap, lots of them and a very inexpensive way to collect some great art and stories. Weird combinations of covers and contents. I don’t “collect” them really but more like “accumulate” interesting ones when I come across them. And there are some very good Charlton books by the way. A lot of the PCH stuff is very good and highly collected.
  16. I’m kind of surprised to see a dealer like Metro stooping so low to play this game. A guy I work with who is into modern Marvels bought one of these at a con. He ended up with a high grade Black Cat Mystery #50. He didn’t know what it was. I tried to offer him full Overstreet for it. I think he got cold feet when he saw the price. Don’t know what he is going to do with it. What he really wanted was a modern Marvel with a Stan Lee sig!
  17. One of the ultimate “sweat” covers and the first one I thought of...
