  1. The Neon Wilderness by Nelson Algren 1949 Avon #222

An Avon classic streetwalker cover. Used later as the cover for Intimate Confessions #1 comic book. One of the best Avons.

This copy is missing one interior page. (yep, I count them). First page neatly detached but clean with no tears or creases. A little wear at top and spine rubbing.Right side looks trimmed but I suspect it isn’t because the book has a slight spine roll. A very decent filler copy with no damage to the classic cover! Happy to keep it if it doesn't sell.

    Was $50.

    Now $45.

  2. SOLD!

The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 1950 Pocket Books #670

A very sharp copy. Looks like it was read maybe once. Very glossy full lamination. Tight, square full paper spine. Tightly bound, Just the most minute wear at tips of corners. Hardly worth mentioning.

Note: The cover is much darker. This was shot outside to magnify any defects.

    Was $15.

    Now $5.

    I second all of this.

I picked up a pulp at Windy City that was interesting and put it back in the box. I came back the next morning (basically only a few hours of "show time" since I put it down) and it was gone.

Same exact thing happened last year at Windy City; I didn't learn my lesson.

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago at the LA Paperback show. Even worse, I saw the guy buying it. I was that close…

  4. Pulps have not had the benefit of a Gerber Photo Journal book. Thusly, most are undiscovered. I see ones every day I never knew existed. Pulps have breathed a lot of new life in my collecting endeavors.

I have known for years that they are much more rare than comics. Very few people had the forsight to amass large collections in high grades. Comics have many pedigrees, pulps as of now, do not.

In knowing all of this, I have always known that the time to buy one you like is when you see it. Might never again get the chance. There are so many cool ones in all genres. But, they will always be second fiddle to comics for me.
