  1. I was cataloging some recent acquisitions and noticed an oddity with some of my Marvel Masterworks, so I thought I'd throw it out here to see if it was a known thing... I have 2 copies of Marvel Masterworks vol. 11, first printing (GSX1 and X-Men 94-100). Both say Vol. 11 on the spine, volume 11 on the title page, but vol. 8 in the indicia. Even though on the same page as the indicia is a list of the first 12 or so volumes of Marvel Masterworks, listing Volume 8 as the Incredible Hulk first one. Anyone know why there's a mismatch between the volume number everywhere else and the one listed in the indicia?
  2. Posting a bit late, but only got back a day or two ago from seeing family, and got to open my great gift from @manicnerd! Some great oddball/oddity books (the Handbook is the hole-punched folio version), and the re-entry of one of my favorite, criminally underused X-characters, Mimic! (I cannot for the life of me get the stupid second picture to not be upside down, and I don't know why...I gave up, lol) Thanks so much, manicnerd!
  3. Sent in my list! Not going to be able to make the live picking, and at #33, well into the middle of the list, I'm curious how far down in my rankings I'll end up getting...we shall see!
  4. Pics of the actual book for my raffle entry, X-Men: The Art and Making of the Animated Series. US only for shipping, unfortunately.
  5. I'm in! Pic to come, but my donation will be a copy of X-Men: The Art and Making of The Animated Series
  6. Wow! Glad you consider that complete, because it looks like one more book and that fourth shelf is comin' down...
  7. Considering they reduced the number of tickets sold, and only Saturday even sold out, I thought it was still pretty well attended. None of the Main Stage panels I went to looked like they were full up (but then again, the selections there weren't that great compared to previous years), but most of the Empire Stage panels I went to in the new building (which was pretty big; the Empire Stage room looked like it had ~2500 seats or so?) were full or pretty close. 95%+ of the major exhibitors that usually attend weren't there, but there were still a good amount that were, and a lot of dealers even though some regulars were missing. Probably helped open the door to some new dealers/exhibitors attending. The big open spot from Buzz's pic was there (I think it was where Midtown usually sets up), and they also had a big open area for PC gaming (tables set up with computers that you could just sit down and play with others) taking up space that was also open. One of the rooms in the new building was also assigned for tabletop gaming, so yeah, they did the best they could to fill the spaces left open. Because of the absence of so many big exhibitors, the panel selection really suffered the most, I think. Which was kind of surprising, given that a lot of panels were virtual panels anyway (even Main Stage panels--they just filled the room and everyone watched the screens the entire time while the pre-recorded panel played); whether or not they were there, the major companies could have still done these virtual panels to promote their stuff. I mean, we have Eternals coming out in a month, Spider-Man: Far From Home soon, Hawkeye premiering soon, Dr. Strange and Thor 4 both coming out before the next SDCC, Foundation airing now, LotR coming soon-ish, the new Resident Evil prequel series coming soon, etc., but not a single panel for any of these things. Between the lower attendance/ticket sales and the wider aisles, it was definitely the easiest NYCC I've attended in over a decade to get around on the show floor, even on Saturday. This year's Saturday felt like 2019's Friday in terms of people/crowds and ability to get around, I think. Prices were...pretty high, I thought, even for a con. I know the books I was looking for are on the rise anyway (X-Men stuff), but even then, it felt a bit too high. Still snagged a few more issues to cross off my list to complete my UXM v1 run, a couple of X-adjacent books, and some other misc things, but not as many issues as I'd hoped to come away with. Those are my impressions, at least.
  8. When did you make your reservation? I've been trying to review mine and make any additional ones I wanted since over the weekend, but I get nothing but errors or blank pages on the stupid Thuzi website after I log in, like there's just no page there at all.
  9. Okay, so I can try and nab the X-Men 1/2 volumes that are getting reprinted, and then start picking up the UXM omnis to get everything else after that, and that should cover without gaps...good to know. Thanks!
  10. So I noticed that the X-Men omnibuses start with GSXM/94, which surprised me...is there an omni series that actually starts at 1 and goes from there (excluding Masterworks, which are more collections than omnis)? Or do I need to get Essential Classic X-Men volumes for the early stuff, and either Essential Uncanny or Uncanny Omni for the rest (which...really would suck, since it would mean different titles between the two...)?
  11. I did the Superfan thing this year, because I knew I was going to be traveling the day the tickets went on sale, so I wasn't going to be able to do the queue. It was a whole separate thing that happened the week before the general sale on Sunday (went from 7/1-7/8), so they weren't put to the front of the general sale queue. Seeing this thread, I'm kind of glad I opted for the pass...feels like my odds of getting through in time to get all four days was probably pretty slim. Still, only did that this year because of other plans; next year, it'll be back in the general queue to take my chances (and hopefully by then, multi-day passes will be back...).
  12. I thought about it, but that con is so overcrowded, and this is happening early enough that I feel like vaccinations and masking will still be a bit lax/iffy...I'll wait until Sept when this got pushed to and give that a try, though, probably.
  13. Thanks for the info, hadn't heard of Royal Daulton before. That's pretty awesome.
  14. Those are some insane prices for cards that I remember I literally couldn't even give away 10 years ago. Hmm...I have my sets of these (all the Marvel and DC sets from that era, for the most part) from when I was a kid, with holograms and duplicates for most of the cards. Maybe it's time to consider selling...
  15. Why was it originally such an expensive piece?
  16. I hope this happens again, in which case I'm in...but I also thought last year's was the last year...
  17. Received my mystery box from @Comics4Allon Wednesday, but got a little...distracted...and so didn't get to opening it until yesterday. Love the Child pin and the Legends figures, and looking forward to reading the book! (I couldn't get my cat away from the goodies long enough for the pictures, he was just as excited as I was, heh.) Thanks so much, Comics4All!
  18. Thanks to @The Sledderand @HollyJollyOne for doing the raffle again! It was a great fun way to cap off the year, as always, but more so this year!
  19. Shout out to @miraclemetfor the great gifts! After having the box sitting on my desk for most of December and having to constantly fend off my wife trying to get me to open it up early, I finally opened it up on Christmas and got to discover some great slabbed X-Men Annuals and an amazing X-Men: TAS art book. Thanks miracle!
