  1. You're taking a very narrow view to make excuses for why collecting uber HG is benefical. There's two sides to the story though. Prices on HG Bronze are already softening with OS starting to lower prices. Horror will be isolated to an extent but will not be immune... Take jabs all you want...the market is tending to oppose your unrealistically sunshiny view. I'd suggest closing the drapes a tad so you aren't caught out wondering where it all went wrong... Jim
  2. They will also be the hardest hit once the HGs become relatively common... Jim
  3. Neal Adams did indeed assist on the Planet of Vampires #1 cover... Jim
  4. Something a little different from the norm... Fright #1 Jim
  5. I don't remember exactly how I came across them. More than likely they were part of a collection bought off eBay... They are now my son's...and some of the few comics he has actually read. He must have liked them as most of the comics I give him tend to end up in the trash after awhile... Jim
  6. Some DC horror gems I found... Unexpected #154 Gotta love the dark green they used for the cover! Witching Hour #25 Killer QP on this baby... DC Special #11 Special jigsaw puzzle variant issue! If you haven't noticed, it's missing a couple jigsaw pieces. Unique for this issue...will find no other issue with exactly the same pieces missing... Taking offers if interested... Jim
  7. Nik...you need a new scanner... Everytime I see one of your scans, I do a double take on the orange line. It kills the effect... Jim
  8. Oh the craze was there alright based on a number of very eye catching prices realized for HG slabs. But it did seem as if the same bidders were the ones sending these prices into the stratosphere. So maybe the craze was a little overstated. Same thing has occurred with the 30/35 cent variant collectors. A few collectors were fighting among themselves and sending prices skyward. Now that they have a copy, prices have crashed... Don't think the exact same thing has happened in horror but prices have softened a bit and the heat seems gone...for now... Jim
  9. Thanks Nik but one should be on the way... Jim
  10. I haven't read his comments yet. But I suspect some of it is coming from the fact Doug has the luxury of having the Manitobas to push his sales higher. These comics have a buzz to them and consistently sell for over guide as a result. Recent eBay and auctions sales tend to indicate sales have topped out and even gone down a bit in everything but the uber slabbed grades... But I will let you know more about my views on Doug's comments once my OS arrives... Jim
  11. I'm betting there are more than a few sitting in collections that aren't going anywhere soon. Even HG copies. Genre collectors tend to keep their comics once acquired and aren't likely to feel a need to slab them. If prices continue to rise, and I'm of the belief large price increases on horror have topped off for now, you may see many more come out. But I'm guessing the rise would have to be higher than your normal price increase for genre collectors to let them go. Especially those with HG copies as the effort to get them was probably more difficult than your average superhero comic. Give it 5-10 years though when the cycle repeats itself and horror back issues re-ignite and you'll likely to see the Census numbers rise quickly. If a crash happens in the meantime though, all bets are off... Jim
  12. Who cares? I do...so get your copy and check... Jim What are the titles? Actually just check Ghostly Tales #169, Scary Tales #46, and Ghost Manor #77... Jim
  13. Who cares? I do...so get your copy and check... Jim
  14. Since people have pulled out the OS and mine hasn't arrived yet ( Chuck), how did Charlton horror fare? Especially the last issues... Jim
  15. OK...I understand what you're getting at now... I think you should just leave well enough alone. Cover scans are just a function of this thread and have been since the beginning. I'm sure if the need arises, you can just repost a scan. I'm not sure how many people are willing to go back and relook at this entire thread anyway... If you break it up...both will be missing something... Just my opinion though... Jim
  16. Why? You've already posted them...why do it a second time unless a thread call for it. I don't think there a needs to be a special "Show Me" thread just so people can repost what they already posted once... : Actually the thought process behind this escapes me... Jim
  17. Nice to see others with sweet copies whose names aren't Sterling and Greggy... Jim
