  1. Amen to that Sid...and in that vein... Tomb of Dracula #2 John Severin cover Jim
  2. Ya know, my girlfriend and I were out buying candy yesterday so we could throw together some Easter baskets for my little relatives, and of course while I was picking out chocolate bunnies I was reminded of...... well, I'm sure you all know the story by now.
  3. The cover has been ripped off... It's the Mennon wrap insert that was in all Marvels cover dated Oct 1973 sent to overseas military exchanges. These were placed behind the covers... Usually see these with the Mark Jewelers insert pulled out...not the cover... Jim
  4. Kudos to both nikos61 and qualitycomix for some great MJ insert comics that arrived this week. Both their packaging was first rate and their prices were quite nice as well! Jim
  5. The cynical view also fits in here somehow...that home grown speculators have discovered a formerly disregarded and underpriced genre to fully exploit and hype for monetary value. This includes some horror collectors that saw the rise in PCH prices and are buying hoping for the same to occur with BA horror... Jim
  6. Some of the comics that came in this week... Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea #2 Total War #2 Bravados #1 Jim
  7. Some long overdue Kudos with those I've dealt with the last couple of months... Bronty - For a couple of sweet comics that I've been looking quite awhile for especially the Giant SGT Rock! blazingbob - Hooked me up with one of my grails (Gunslinger #2 in NM). Wonderful grader as well but you all already knew that... Superworld - Ted's a great guy and his prices were right on for comics I was looking for. Doug Sulipa - Great, great dealer. Hooked me up with some great Bronze insert comics. And his grading was spot-on! sfilosa - Some SA DCs that I originally was going to flip to the Germans until receiving them and deciding they were keepers! flyingdonut - Sold me a slew of Marvel MJ insert comics for a great price. He also contacted me on another deal for Atlas/Seaboard. Note to all dealers: If you take the time to know what I collect and then take the extra step to contact me when something I might be interested in comes up, you've usually found yourself a buyer even if what you have may not be at the top of my want list. I value dealers that keen to buyer's collecting interests...Great customer service that goes above and beyond in my opinion! QualityComics - recently did the same as FD by contacting me on a TOD #10. Comic hasn't arrived yet but Kudos nonetheless for taking the time to follow-up on a single PM from over a month ago in which the comic wasn't available... blbcomics - Solidly graded HG Skywalds and SA Gold Keys! tkg2627 - For a sweet Marvel horror w/ MJ insert whose packaging was bombproof! Flaming_Telepath - For a very nicely graded Conan...probably the best handled and painless transaction I've had from a British seller. Silvermine - Strictly graded, undergraded in my opinion, Marvel w/ insert. nochips - One of my favorite dealers on eBay! Grading and customer service is top notch! Thanks for hooking me up with the Subby and Strange Tales! davehennen - Another great grader and ships very quickly! Thanks for the X-Men! I know there are others and apologize in advance for forgetting you. This Forum has been a great source of pleasent, hassle-free deals. I spend more here than eBay these days. Other than one bad deal and another that didn't work out, I've had nothing but wonderful experiences buying from Forum members. And for that I'm greatly appreciative... So if you have anything for sale I might like...fire away! Jim
  8. "I, Vampire" fangs down! So, does fangs down = thumbs up or thumbs down Vampire slang for "A-OK" I suspect... Jim
  9. Dracula... It was a great spin on the classic character that fit perfectly into comics. TOD has aged very well and is fast becoming one of best comic series of the Bronze Age... I Vampire, while OK, look very weak in comparison to TOD...and I didn't care for any of the other DC continuing horror stories... Jim
  10. Well in that case...what neo-conservative housecleaning occurred at Charlton Central for them to purposely censor their own comics? Blood and gore was perfectly acceptable for the under-15 crowd in the 70s but come the 80s it's taboo? I now know where Charlton got the bright idea to release an 80s comic titled "Soap Opera Romances"... Enough conspiracy for ya... Jim
  11. Nah...just curious that it was OK in the earlier comic but removed from the later reprint... Jim
  12. Ghost Manor #76 reused the cover. Curious that the blood is missing in this later reprint... Jim
  13. Perfect copy to have signed! If I was a creator, I'd much rather sign a well read copy like this that will be coveted and probably never leave the fan's collection than a minty fresh copy... Jim
  14. I disagree. I think DC horror has maxed out for now except for the ultra HGs (and these regardless of genre are crazy). I expect a small correction but prices should remain stable until the cycle comes back around to horror. This horror cycle is passing I suspect... Very true...they are looked on as more of a hobby niche and are treated uniformly vs. by title/issue. I don't see that changing for the majority of DC horror EXCEPT for Adams covers. I think these will separate themselves from common horror and be priced in a separate horror catagory... Jim
  15. There's nothing to be ashamed of in reading Wizard as long as you see it for what it is; a self serving comics hype machine. After you realize that the magazine can be quite entertaining and informative about the very current Modern market. If they try to go back even one year, you quickly see they don't know what the hell they're talking about. Wizard is all about the immediate market...and I have bought a copy each and every month since the 1st issue... Jim
  16. They used to be in Wizard but were pushed out years ago in favor of the hottest titles when the guide was de-emphasized with less pages and ever shrinking typeface. In fact, either I'm getting old or the type is getting too small because I have to have pretty good light to read the guide at all these days... Jim
  17. He knows quality when he sees it... Jim Were you scared as a little tot when you read the story initially? Never read it as child... Jim Where you scared when you read it last night? No. But this still gives me nightmares... Jim
  18. He knows quality when he sees it... Jim Were you scared as a little tot when you read the story initially? Never read it as child... Jim
  19. Tower of Shadows Annual #1 John Romita cover. Interesting to put against Tower of Shadows #2 to see the art changes... Jim
  20. Yet again...it seems this thread has become a little too DC centric. So some nice horror Marvels that arrived in the mail today to take a gander at. And some that haven't been posted in quite some time... Journey into Mystery #2 One of the best Gil Kane covers of the Bronze Age in my opinion. Jim
  21. This afternoon...don't have time now...actually I haven't really looked at your list to decide if I need anything other than the WHs... Jim
