  1. J.C. is Stan's daughter. As to what the seller would expect her to tell him about this book...
  2. Give PGX a break, their authenticator is distracted by the current increase in pizza delivery volume.
  3. That clown has nearly 2700 feedback too. More proof that a high feedback score does not automatically mean that you have any integrity.
  4. I think the risk to brick and mortar is being significantly overblown. If this current crisis has taught me one thing, its that sitting in the house is driving me crazy. Luckily, I'm still working and have "essential" business that pulls me into the office (and out of the house!) a couple of days per week. But to live in a "normal" world where everything is being delivered to me at home, and I have no reason to leave my own property? F that. And I'd wager that the vast majority of people feel the same way, regardless of the convenience of online consumerism.
  5. And that's just the market as a whole being down 20%. Certain sectors -- energy, REITs, BDCs -- are still down double or triple that figure off of their highs. Given the choice between comics or pouring every dollar I can into the highest quality names in those sectors while they're on sale, my money is going into stocks. Especially since I agree with you -- we'll probably see the Dow in the 18s and 19s again before we see it back in the 29s. Until a strong feeling of certainty is restored to the world, volatility is going to reign. The funny books are just going to have to wait.
  6. You're not wrong about that, there's certainly a time and place for intervention. But what about these past 10 years, until COVID-19 brought the bull market to a screeching halt? Two administrations have ignored the opportunity to unwind the Fed's balance sheet and actually take a bite at the national debt. In the best of times we were staring at a trillion dollar budget deficit. That ain't right.
  7. Its going to take 1 + 60 + 218 to actually show some fiscal discipline. Don't count me among the optimistic.
  8. It helps that the rest of the world is basically doing the same thing at the same time. If the US was the only country trying to print through a crisis, things could certainly go sideways. But when we're all one happy worldwide debt to GDP mess... party on Wayne!
  9. That's a great book, hopefully its returned to you. If there's any possible silver lining, assuming the thief knows anything about CGC, (s)he won't de-slab a yellow label and risk tanking the value. Makes it that much harder to try and re-sell it.
  10. That might be true if every other major economy wasn’t doing the exact same thing.
  11. Good reason to use your credit card for everything you can. GrowTix, meet Mr. Dispute.
  12. I will join in the action as well, with a sentimental twist. The first comic I ever bought was Wolverine 61, and it kicked off a lifelong love of comics (well, some comics anyway). However, earning the average salary of a 9 year old left me in a bit of a bind as it seemingly took me for-ev-er to put together the full storyline (60-65). Still one my favorite runs to this day, and in 2020 I'm well positioned to give a curious reader a leg up on my starting point -- I know for sure that I have extra copies of 60 & 61, and I'm pretty sure 62 & 63, and possibly 64 & 65. I'll confirm tonight and post photos as I actually went into the office today. People won't stay inside in the suburbs, but the Chicago loop is pretty I am Legend-ish. Should've brought one of my dogs with me. So whatever I got from Wolverine 60-65, you get. Shipping on me. Claim by PM or in this thread. UPDATE: My recollectioning was almost perfect - I have all of them except 64. UPDATE #2: I do have an extra copy of #64! Found it at the bottom of a small pile of books today. Not adding a photo, but it will be included.
  13. One thing I find interesting is how little the crypto con market has moved during this current crisis. All the talk from the true believers about how Bitcon is going to a jillion dollars and will supplant the dollar and become the world's reserve currency because countries around the world are just printing and printing and printing so called "fiat" currencies. Well...a new round of massive QE from the G7 countries was just announced. And Bitcon? Still stuck under $7,000. That little string of numbers doesn't do much for you when no one in the real world wants to accept it in exchange for that full shopping cart you just brought to the register.
  14. I’m still holding out for when the good stuff gets posted.
  15. Spot on. And all this selling means someone else is buying. Like me
  16. Pandering in place of storytelling seems to be the new norm for Marvel.
  17. It’s nice when you’re the one who makes the laws, no? Just like term limits, a ban on insider trading by members of Congress should be a no brainer. Hence, neither will ever pass.
  18. That his corpse played for some very mediocre Blackhawks teams of course.
  19. That’s not my point. There’s a certain segment of “analysts” who release their predictions of market doom every week of every month of every year. Eventually they turn out to be right, bringing their prediction accuracy from 0 to .007%. And as for current events - NO ONE saw this coming months in advance. So saying you read some “recession is coming in 2020” articles is hardly prescient.
  20. They were writing the same stuff in 2019. And 2018. And 2017. And 2016....
  21. Just doing some brief browsing, it looks like MREs are in short supply right now as well.
