How insane is that? TFA had Star Wars set up to rival Marvel's success, if not run roughshod over it. Instead...Days of Our Lives, followed by (haven't seen it yet, but what seems to be) a greatest hits album?

I doubt that, though I give the decision making process of the movie going public more credit than I probably should. I think one thing we can all agree on though - they've completely botched this whole process.

I think their first critical mistake was announcing in advance that they were (arbitrarily) ending at Episode IX . A lot of folks out there probably lost interest at that point as there was no longer any reason to get invested in the new cast.

The only way eBay could ever truly make an impact on return and switch is to play middleman for all the merchandise sold on the platform. Based on their volume, that will never happen. The Resistance didn't even put up a decent fight in the movie. "Hooray, we got the action thoroughly put on us, and now we're three dozen strong! Sound the trumpets and let's hit the liquor cabinet! Hey, anyone got 20 bucks for gas???"

If they did this, it wouldn't be a proper money grab.

I have been operating under the belief that 9 figures is a forgone conclusion for this movie, but you did get me thinking - The Force Awakens probably crushed Avatar's domestic record in part based upon the renewed enthusiasm that Star Wars was once again moving forward. But since Sky of Risewalker was announced as the end of the new cast and of the run of Episodes, will this drastically sap box office enthusiasm? Seems a real possibility it could since folks can now look upon the whole VII-IX endeavor as largely pointless beyond a cash grab and will just wait to Red Box it.

It cracks me up when people act like spoilers are sooooo hard to avoid. Don’t Google “Rise of Skywalker spoilers” for starters.

Three things ruined Into Darkness for me, which I do agree was generally entertaining otherwise: 1. Magic Khan blood that cures everything 2. Blatant rip off of the warp core scene from "Wrath of Khan" (easy to overlook if you've never seen WOK) 3. Having to call future Spock to get the downlow on one of the worst villains in Trek Earth's history. Apparently everyone failed high school in Abrams' vision of the 23rd century.

I'll admit straight away - its probably going to be impossible for me to get past my own feeling of how exceedingly lame it is that they're trotting creepy Uncle Palpatine back out, apparently as the all knowing invincible puppeteer of all things to boot. Here's a tip guy - learn from Pinky and the Brain: one outlandishly elaborate plot to take over the world is enough. But if it turns out Lando ices him with a well placed torpedo to the face, I promise to change my tune.

I watched it last night, and it reiterated my recent thought that Episode IX seems a lot like AC/DC releasing an album called "Iron Man 2" -- it contains a bunch of old hits thrown together and hidden under a familiar title so that people will hopefully have spent their money on the product before realizing that they've been had.

And the advertising is all terrible to boot. Freakin' United Airlines has a SW tie in commercial. Like I said a while back, hopefully it all stops once this is finally released. But it will probably get worse instead.
