  1. Its definitely a bogus 9.8. Unfortunately, you may end up in a urinating contest with the seller over who bears responsibility (seller or CGC). Hope everything works out on your end though, great eye on this one.
  2. Detective 371 is all that's left, final price cut to $300. Thread will close up shop sometime tonight.
  3. In my experience, Roy Thomas signatures aren’t highly sought after on the open market. And that pertains to books he worked on; get his signature on books that he had nothing to do with, and you’re basically throwing your money away.
  4. 100% that's Chris Claremont, not sure what's with all the extraneous numbers though.
  5. Someone call Webster: mob - a group of individuals seeking to enforce established rules
  6. Why are you so desperate to justify what happened with some alternate reasoning when STARR's own words have already made it perfectly clear that this transaction fell apart due to seller's remorse, plain and simple.
  7. Only if a percentage of people like the seller.
  8. No one is forcing STARR to sell the book. He can choose to keep it and sit on the PL, or he can go through with the transaction as originally agreed. Life almost always gives you a minimum of two choices in any situation, some of the choices just have a consequence attached to them. Why you want the wronged party in this to make all the sacrifice is beyond me.
  9. Finally got my "switch or else" email from eBay. Or else it is. Suck it, eBay.
  10. Actual quote: "Wow! As I said to you, I am keeping the book for myself. I have collected, traded and sold books since 1977. I have an EXCELLENT reputation with many other collectors and dealers. Yes, Storms bought some books from me and what he decides what to do with them is his business. SO, there is NOTHING fishy going on, I recent that! It's MY BOOK, if I chose to keep it, its my prerogative. I have a 1256 positive (100%) feedback on Ebay. I don't what else to say. I DO NOT have your check!!! Sorry, you are upset. It's just a comic book, Jim." What's worse - the cavalier dismissals that I bolded, or the brow beating with the implied "I am better than you" resume?
  11. Cite ANYTHING in the PM exchange that points to the (alleged) delay in write’s payment arriving playing a role in STARR reneging on the deal.
  12. What sounds more far fetched in this case? A. STARR changed his mind and used write’s check (allegedly) not showing up as a convenient excuse. B. write didn’t send the check at all, or sent it later than he claimed, then engaged in an elaborate charade to make STARR think he sent the check, it was USPS’ fault it was slow to arrive, and his offer to send a new payment on several occasions was completely disingenuous. Then write hatched a story about how much he really wanted the book and went so far as to nominate STARR for the PL so we would think write was wronged. All to make us believe that he wanted a book that he didn’t actually want, nefariously sullying STARR’s name in the process for some as yet unknown reason to us. If you choose A as the more far fetched scenario, I have some Reynold’s Wrap for you.
  13. cracked_polished_diamondz says they’re buying...
  14. "Sorry I screwed you out of book, how does dibs sound?" 'Take your book, insert it in orifice A, then shove with x amount of force until you reach destination y.' Time until receipt of payment never seemed to be an issue for you based upon your own responses to @thewritestuff. You strung him along by expressing understanding and patience with the current plight of the USPS, then reneged on the deal out of the blue. Yes, you screwed him. Having now seen the pm thread, this is one man's opinion, @RICK STARR.
