  1. So IT,! The Living Colossus, was the lead character until Deathlok came onboard in number 25. Here are the remaining three issues.
  2. I've tried to get Astonishing Tales # 21 in 9.8, but so far no success. I CPRed two 9.4s that I thought had potential in the last few years but still no 9.8 on the census and only four 9.6's. Cool cover.
  3. Upgraded this really nice Suscha News copy for a 9.8.
  4. I upgraded this Don Rosa copy 9.6 with the funky miswrap with this 9.8 also with a slightly less funkier one.
  5. I am out of town. Can anyone else help Jim explore the registry? By the way, what level of membership do you have to be in order to have a registry set? I believe it is the $25 level, right? Thanks, Paul-
  6. That sounds very similar to my own story. I was living in Turkey at the time and I remember seeing Astonishing Tales number 30 on the rack. I would have been about 10. And like you Deathlok has always been my favorite character. nice set. Have you set up a registry set? Paul-
  7. I took the Plunge. PR -14. Paul-
  8. This thread has been a lot of fun and has inspired me to put together a short set of the Marvel Book and Record Sets. Is there one in particular that is harder to find that I should snag first and then work my way from there? And what would you consider most important? The 45 record or the comic book itself? Thanks Paul
  9. Actually, I would agree that Astonishing Tales #12 with its impossible black picture frame cover should be way up there. I believe Bob's 9.6 sold for $2000+ early last year on CL. Suspect that the one and only 9.8 would bring multiples of that in today's market. Paul
  10. Well bought at that price in my opinion.. Just a tough book in high grade and this copy had white pages
  11. I found #20 to be extremely difficult due to the color of the picture frame. It shows everything. Paul
  12. I was traveling out of town and stopped in a comic shop I used to visit and found these in their $2 bin. Low grade, but I've never seen any in the wild, so what the hey. Paul~
  13. Very sad to hear this. This is the first comic book that I remember buying of his. Rest easy to both him and his wife.
  14. Just got this back from CGC. Thrilled with it. I remember this comic book on the rack when I was living in Turkey. It was the back up story "Conqueror!" which really had a lasting impression on me.
  15. So just for giggles I was surfing on the 'net last night when I stumbled onto this Heritage Auction from 2011. The Jack Sparling art from House of Mystery #205 sold for almost $6000 which is not unreasonable, but the fact that it still exists and in such amazing condition is truly miraculous. Paul~
  16. I bought this raw off of eBay if you can believe it. Thought it had potential for at least a 9.4 or possibly a 9.6 when I got it in hand. I did not press it or have it cleaned and it came back a 9.0. Still I'm happy to have it. The Jack Sparling "Grey Tone" cover really pops. Paul~
  17. Two of my favorites that I have received over time.
  18. Santa also brought some nice upgrades for the registry sets. Ho Ho Ho! Paul~
  19. Santa brought a few pedigrees to add to my registry sets. Ho Ho Ho! Paul~
