So IT,! The Living Colossus, was the lead character until Deathlok came onboard in number 25. Here are the remaining three issues.

I've tried to get Astonishing Tales # 21 in 9.8, but so far no success. I CPRed two 9.4s that I thought had potential in the last few years but still no 9.8 on the census and only four 9.6's. Cool cover.

I upgraded this Don Rosa copy 9.6 with the funky miswrap with this 9.8 also with a slightly less funkier one.

I am out of town. Can anyone else help Jim explore the registry? By the way, what level of membership do you have to be in order to have a registry set? I believe it is the $25 level, right? Thanks, Paul-

That sounds very similar to my own story. I was living in Turkey at the time and I remember seeing Astonishing Tales number 30 on the rack. I would have been about 10. And like you Deathlok has always been my favorite character. nice set. Have you set up a registry set? Paul-

This thread has been a lot of fun and has inspired me to put together a short set of the Marvel Book and Record Sets. Is there one in particular that is harder to find that I should snag first and then work my way from there? And what would you consider most important? The 45 record or the comic book itself? Thanks Paul

Actually, I would agree that Astonishing Tales #12 with its impossible black picture frame cover should be way up there. I believe Bob's 9.6 sold for $2000+ early last year on CL. Suspect that the one and only 9.8 would bring multiples of that in today's market. Paul

Well bought at that price in my opinion.. Just a tough book in high grade and this copy had white pages

I found #20 to be extremely difficult due to the color of the picture frame. It shows everything. Paul

I was traveling out of town and stopped in a comic shop I used to visit and found these in their $2 bin. Low grade, but I've never seen any in the wild, so what the hey. Paul~

Very sad to hear this. This is the first comic book that I remember buying of his. Rest easy to both him and his wife.

Just got this back from CGC. Thrilled with it. I remember this comic book on the rack when I was living in Turkey. It was the back up story "Conqueror!" which really had a lasting impression on me.

So just for giggles I was surfing on the 'net last night when I stumbled onto this Heritage Auction from 2011. The Jack Sparling art from House of Mystery #205 sold for almost $6000 which is not unreasonable, but the fact that it still exists and in such amazing condition is truly miraculous. Paul~

I bought this raw off of eBay if you can believe it. Thought it had potential for at least a 9.4 or possibly a 9.6 when I got it in hand. I did not press it or have it cleaned and it came back a 9.0. Still I'm happy to have it. The Jack Sparling "Grey Tone" cover really pops. Paul~
