Really nice page being offered. IMO Better than the page from issue #3 Hakes sold last year for $33,700. Will be fun to see where this one ends up.

I'm most likely attending. I feel it has been a consistently excellent show. Lately, more art dealers set up at c2e2 compared to WW Chicago. Although, I haven't seen the dealer lineup for this year yet. Plus lots of books, toys, artists, etc. Always a good time.

Thanks to everyone who has posted pics! Does anyone know if Saul has an online presence? I don't recall ever seeing him at a Midwest show that I would attend.

Anyone following tonight's Hakes auctions? They always have an nice assortment of collectibles. The artwork that stood out to me was the Marvel Star Wars #3 page by Chaykin. It sold for $26,000 + 18% buyers premium.

I remember Comiclink sold a He-man magazine cover by Norem maybe 4 or 5 years ago. It had He-man battling Skeletor in outer space. I think it sold for around $2000 if I remember right.

Transformers have never appealed to me. I was already a teenager by the time they came out, so I was past their target audience. My 3-year old son appears to like them. For you guys who like them, help me out here...how much of the appeal is actually transforming them, i.e. physically manipulating the bot to change it from one form to another? Is that an integral part of it, or is it more the idea of the figure having two modes? I'm the latter camp, and I do enjoy that aspect of them as I watch the movies. I ask because while my kid enjoys them, he can't transform them--so it's the job of me and his mom to do the transforming. So far I'm not enjoying doing the transforming much, but I might be approaching it from the wrong frame of mind. I can generally see how people might like them...they seem like a puzzle, but simpler.
I ask this within the context of Unicron because does anyone look forward to transforming that thing? It looks like it might take an hour or more to change from one form to the other. There's a video of someone transforming the recent $450 Optimus Prime that's two feet tall, and it takes him half an hour on the video to do it. Do most Transformers collectors ENJOY that, a Transformer that takes a while to switch?
Both of my kids claim that another kid at their daycare has a Transformer that lets you push a single button for the figure to transform to or from one form to another. Is that a thing with Transformers? THAT sounds more appealing, particularly for the age range my kids are in.
I have similar thoughts on the modern Transformers. I bought a few to hopefully get my young son involved in transforming them. So, we bought one called Transformers Unite Devastator (I think) for ages 8+. It was way too time consuming to transform it. He has no interest or patience to spend more than 2 minutes on it. The 1980s stuff, I could play and transform them back and forth. It may take 10-15 seconds to transform car to robot for example. When the transformations are so complex &/or time consuming it really can't be part of the play value. So, while I do like the look of the Masterpiece line for example, it would end up being a display piece on the shelf as I would find transforming it to be a chore.

Anyone know what kind of comic dealer presence will be at this show? Dealer websites like High Grade Comics, Metropolis, etc don't mention they will be setting up here. Trying to gauge if it's worth checking this one out. Thanks.

I love it. It's a "Year 1" ASM page, from the first year of ASM as an ongoing title...and it's got all that action & Spidey on it.
And, never has Spider-man faced such a devastating foe as "Fancy Dan"!

The incessant and in poor taste nudity on CAF is also a drag. I used to check this site at lunch but no more. If the wrong person is walking by you are dead meat. Wish there was a way to filter results (maybe there is and I don't know about it).
Yeah, lots of the art accumulating on CAF is just nonsense. If there was a separate published and unpublished section, I think that could help make CAF more enjoyable to search.

Set-up day and Wizard still doesn't have their viewable floor up
Man, still no floor plan. I look forward to checking it out prior to the show to remember the booths I'd like to check out.

Birthday strips: artwork from newspaper strips I like published on my birthday (February 27, 1968) but doesn't have to be the year I was born.
Pretty cool idea. Must be challenging, but rewarding when you find one.

I think the Sal Sub-mariner cover is a really nice example. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Wow, love the Micronauts splash!

Auction is in Chicago, so I'm tempted to attend the live bidding for the first time. Does anyone know if you win an item with a floor bid (say a $2,000 item), can you pay for it right there and take it home with you?

Wow lots of great pics. They are very clear too, so you can see everything in detail. Thanks for posting them.

Some really nice books posted in this thread recently.
I used to collect Silver Age Spidey, and sold most of my books probably 8-10 years ago. Now that I check out some recent auction prices, I'm surprised on how much prices have gone up for issues 1-40 especially for the semi-keys like 9,13,14, etc. Even low grade books are selling for much higher than I remember. I'd like to pick up a couple of my favorite issues again, but I see it's going to cost me.

The Force was strong... $20K for the Williamson ROTJ!
Wow, now that's a strong price! I guess I don't know that market, as I would have estimated under 12K.

Williamson/Stevens/Garzon Return of the Jedi panel page up to $15,600 with auction later today ...

Exhibitor list is up on the c2e2 website. Looks to be a good show as always.

Love the G.I. Joe pics. The Wolverine is still one of the coolest vehicles. Seeing these reminds me I've been meaning to build a Joe display scene to include some of my favorite figures/vehicles.
