Wow, the Decarlo Humorama piece sold for $4,500. These always seemed to sell in the $1,000 - $2,000 range in the past. Pretty good flip from the person that bought in on ebay in December for $528.

There's probably no comps like this for a Kane cover that I'm aware. I just thought the subject matter & published time period would play a bigger factor in pricing over whomever the artist is.

I was guessing around $60,000 for the Star Wars #9 cover. Not one of my favorite cover images in the series, but I figured the fact it was such an early cover would push the price up a little more.

I don't understand using search words in the title of an auction that has nothing to do with what you are selling. Also, has anybody, ever, used "sleeze" as a search word while browsing comic art?

The Star Wars #9 cover will be interesting to watch. I don't recall ever seeing a Star Wars cover as early as this come to auction before.

It had a few moments that were enjoyable, but overall a disapointment. The Finn & Rose storyline went nowhere. They failed their loooong mission ... but it didn't matter. I needed some kind of backstory, even a little, of the First Order or Snoke. But nothing. The movie was too long and disjointed, and I think it could easily have been edited down 20 minutes. I actually kind of liked the Force projection of Luke part ... but then he dies the next scene. . What is the consensus on why Luke died? Did he give himself to the force? Was it the strain of projecting himself?

I don't see too much Vigoda anywhere. Lucey stuff comes up on ebay or auction houses sometimes, but can get pricey if the page is nice. Heritage sold lots of Hartley pages & stories about a year ago, and it seemed they had some every week in their weekly auctions, but they haven't had any lately. So, I think you have your basis covered watching out on ebay, Comiclink, & Heritage. I'm sure the stuff you are looking for will come up from time to time. As far as conventions, my experience is many art dealers don't have all their inventory shown online. So, you may find some of what you are looking for there as well. Good luck.

For me, I think the show has been excellent for finding comics. I am a little disappointed though that the OA dealers haven't come here recently. I think 5 or 6 years ago WW Chicago had Albert Moy, Burkey, Coollines, Anthonys, Bechara, and maybe a few others. Wish they would come back.

Does anyone know if Bechara Maalouf from Nostalgic Investments is set up at the show? I know sometimes at past shows he has not been listed in the exhibitor list, but would set up with/near another dealer (like Tomorrows Treasurers). Thanks in advance.

Wow I just want to go for one day, but see the one-day ticket prices are $60 for Friday & $70 for Saturday. I thought I paid around $35 to $40 for one day at C2E2. I'm still going, but really wish it would be more affordable for a family to go. I know kids under a certain age are free, so that helps.

Some of you remember your first toy & first comic. I remember mine as well. I got into the toys toward the last of the straight arm figures. My first was straight arm Hawk with the MMS. G.I. Joe was also what first got me into collecting comics. My first ever comic that I remember purchasing was G.I. Joe #10 at a local pharmacy/candy store.

Anyone else grow up with GI Joe in the early/mid 1980's? I almost forgot all about Star Wars during that time frame, as GI Joe really took over my interests. It seemed like most of the boys in my grade school were hooked on GI Joe as well as it was a real phenomenon at that time. Between the awesome toys & toy box artwork, comic books, & cartoons it probably is my best memory of being a kid around that time frame. My question is, if you could pick only one (toys, comic, or cartoon) what was you favorite back then? Tough call. Though I loved the comics & cartoon, I'd say the toys stimulated my imagination and brought me a lot of enjoyment.

Anyone that searches for Archie Comics artwork on ebay gets bombarded with probably 400 Chen drawings of Betty & Veronica in superhero gear & other random outfits.

I've never seen those Captain Marvel serials before. Much more violence than I would have expected. Especially when he mowed down some bad guys with their machine gun.

Here's a close up of part of the cover. The 1st image is from Heritage. The 2nd from ebay. Are the differences possibly due to scanner settings? I'm just wondering what the experts think, so I know what to look for in future potential purchases.

I don't mind overlays when they are disclosed. So, I think the ebay seller should disclose this information. More info on a piece's history the better.

I've always liked Fantastic Four #2. Enjoyable story, and i like the solution the FF came up with to deal with the Skrulls. Amazing Spider-man #15 with Kraven & #20 with Scorpion were also excellent.

I've gone to C2E2 about 3 times. The first two times I was able to park in a parking garage that offers a relatively short indoor walk to the convention. Last year as I approached, a sign stated that the garage was full. So, I had to park several blocks away outdoors. I'll be going there again, as they do put on a nice show. They also seem to have more original artwork dealers than WW Chicago (though neither show has many).

True - much better than the modern designs. Yeah, the modern designs are too robotic to me. I guess that is part of the Cybermen story that they have "evolved" to more machine parts than man over time. That's why I'm hoping to see them again earlier in their evolution

I've been hoping for a new story where the Doctor goes back in time to an earlier point in the Cybermen development. How cool would it be to see some of the 1970s Cybermen designs again.
