I did see a couple really nice copies in the $5 boxes at my last comic con but I passed on them so not sure if they are worth $5 to anybody or not. I always thought it was an interesting read unlike some of the other New Universe books.
Not good even without factoring eBay’s pound. Definitely hasn’t kept up with inflation.

Not every collector has been doing this for 50 years and not everyone who entered the hobby in the last 5 is a dirty flipper. I may not personally care that half a decade of gains are gone, but I can look past the end of my own nose and have sympathy for people who got caught in the crossfire. Wild fluctuations in prices isn't good for the long term health of the hobby....if you care about that sort of thing.
Boom and bust has been around in the comics world since divorce was invented. Luckily when you have collected for as long as me the winners have made up for my myriad of bad decisions (sinking all my net worth into the New Universe being the first of many).

I think a couple conclusions might be drawn from these results. Lower grade books, even graded, aren't garnering the frenzy they were even a year ago. The novelty of pulp auction on HA is wearing off a bit. I know myself I still try to watch them but the draw isn't as strong, and swapping them to the front of the comic auction rather than at the end means I've now missed the last 2. Newer collectors drawn in by the grading and attention don't seem to be as interested in lower grade books, as some of the common stuff in mid grade is still selling for surprising numbers while other books like these spicys are going for probably what they would raw.
Higher end books still seem to get some decent numbers. This spicy hit 2k today on ebay! I just hope the seller does better with shipping, as his auctions last week were sent out in thin cardboard envelopes
She’s a beauty. Those from the earlier auctions were some nice books if my memory serves me with my Hail Marys falling woefully short of the mark.

It’s fun to own a variant from the 30’s that is still published today.

Is the smaller one squarebound? About standard magazine size?
Holy carp I’ve stumped Mr. Wizard! actually it’s just an exact miniature of the larger one. Comic book sized.

After 20 years I finally have my entire comic collection under one roof! (no more storage unit!). My wife and I recently moved into a new house and I took over the 3rd floor bonus room. I had a contractor install some cabinets and special narrow shelving. I have enough wall space to display over 250 comics, plus plenty of shelving for graphic novels, assorted books, statues and figures. My new comic room also has an adjacent storeroom where I keep the bulk of my collection (about 14,000 comics in 130+ short boxes).
That is awesome. One thing I didn’t notice in your photos was a sprinkler system? If interested I know a guy who does them… cheap.

opinion, it is one of the best books ever to come to auction and especially 2024...white pages and 7.0 on an impossible book to get in that condition. A real winner!...With fantastic upside
You might be right about the rarity and importance of the book but fantastic upside? My take is Fawcett’s are fools’ gold (that’s why I have so many).

I am going to do this for the first time. If anyone is in the area, and you need used comic boxes, Come to our warehouse and pick them up. Yes they are FREE, take as many as you want Before we cut them up and throw them in the dumpster, There are mostly short boxes. We need to make room in our warehouse. There is a lot more than is pictured. We are located in West Babylon, Long Island. This is for Pick up only. We are NOT shipping, holding it or bringing them to shows. If you want these come here and pick them up. Or they go in the shredder on Friday May 17. Today Only
