  4. I wonder if it's going to keep going or be one of the times when it just never moves off an early bid.
  5. As I said 15 or 20 years ago ( almost word for word) your opinion ( I should not have said exact) about any comic ever selling for one million dollars was made by some collectors which is your opinion and that's cool. But when I see a 1980s TMNT #1 books hitting 100k it's not hard for me to think 20 million for say the Mile High comic # 1 Action or Tec #27 in 20 yrs is not a very real possibility imho. I guess we will have to wait 20 or 30 year to see. For the record ( I never said you said blah blah blah it was a general statement).
  6. Anyone who has been in this hobby for any length of time will tell you there are always the guys who say " its maxed out"" it can't get any higher" "the world is coming to an end and nobody will ever pay that much" blah blah blah ........................................................ then the book sells. When dealing with mega keys it's very simple basic supply and demand ( in some cases like AF 15 is not even about supply, just demand over the last 10 yrs.) Nothing more nothing less.
  7. Yea Iv went both ways a 100 times, I don't know if it impacts the value either way and I lean more towards its a personal preference depending on the collector.
  8. I have struggled with this question for years with my Tex 27, I go back and forth & think it would be cool to have a complete Tec 27 NG blue with a repro cover but really the big problem is I don't want to send the book back out too CGC as the stress might do me in lol.
  9. I don't know how anyone could read the Miller Wolverine series and not think it was simply amazing,In many ways it redefined the character for the next 4 decades . in both comics and movies. "The most lasting impression that the series made on Wolverine’s character, and probably the single smartest connection that it makes with regards to his character, is entwining Wolverine within Japanese culture."
  10. Gil Kane is so underrated for his work on Conan, the Giant Size & annuals are among some of the best work in the entire series & as good as anything done by Big John imho
  11. Grade looks pretty solid to me, nice book by anyone's standards, any input on projected final hammer price? ( these are strange times)
  12. Funny a quick look on ebay and sure enough there are the insane asking $$$$ #1 9.8 3rd prints, I am all for free market, but there is a HUGE difference in a 3000 print run and a 30k print run on an established hot book which is what TMNT was by the time the 3rd print came around, much better places to put your 7/10k (lol) imho
  13. When did this show air? If its a not a new episode the numbers are not off..
  14. I gotta say while I am outraged and I agree with everyone on this post this is not cool or ok in anyway. On some level I am impressed I mean to ask $100 a book (plus $4 shipping!) is a big balls move & his inventory is also impressive. Whoever he/she is they know something about comics, imho the dumb move was to not put replica on the inside cover and to change the size a bit or maybe even add a standard (R) mark on each page or something along those lines. Again I am not saying this is ok or cool in anyway just an observation. I also want to note exact high quality covers of many key GA/SA books have been around & even sold on these boards for years. I am not saying it's the same situation but they also could be used to scam the same newbie mentioned above, I bought a Hulk #1 cover here a few years ago (sold it as coverless) in our store but several times it fooled some less educated customers when it was on display. Let the buyer beware if the deal is just to good or stay with graded books if it's a high dollar book.
  15. Shouldn't you be using the data for 9.8 TMNT & a 9.6 AF or even a 9.4 as the 9.6 is a white elephant.
  16. 100% it has been undervalued imo for a long time. That $1,375 will look like a great buy over the next few years. It's legit rare in the sense that it's one of those books that you can't just get when you want it regardless of how much $$$ your willing to spend ( most collectors know if they sell there copy they can't easily replace it, which support Ryans post above) Overall imo any of the first 4 & their variants are just going to be more sought after over the next decade. TMNT passes my GUAM test....... ie if you go to Guam and ask anyone who Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine or Leonardo are 99.9 % of the population will know who your talking about as the franchise keeps reinventing itself, my 10 yr old grandson loves TMNT. The true demand vs scarcity of #1 fp's is going to pull everything up. There are substantially less copies of TMNT #1 fp then #181 & even AF 15 on the census ( Tec 27/Action 1 are another animal altogether)......yes you will have your spikes but you tell me where this is headed as worldwide "generation turtle" starts to really come into prime adulthood collecting age...... Cowabunga Dude!
  17. I have to say if I was in the market for a first print I would be emailing Dave and Adam on there book with a solid offer and take it from there, because if the current 8.0 auction is any indication that book is looking like a deal if you can get it for 17/18k and a month from now might be a steal, with 40 watchers it's just a matter of time before someone pulls the trigger. just my 2 cents. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-1-CGC-8-5-W-Origin-1st-Splinter-1st-Shredder/373152158236?hash=item56e19a121c:g:0NsAAOSwytxfOpyz
  18. Iv seen this happen with H181 you can pick any single sale to support a trend either way but when looking at the larger picture its a solid sale imho, I try not to focus on each sale, but the overall picture, had I told you in early spring that # would be paid for a 2nd print most of us would have thought I was insane
  19. I almost forgot I think the # 3 NY print variation is way undervalued when you consider there were only 500 examples & keep an eye on 9.8 2,3,& 4 in general ( 1st prints)
  20. That is a strong number for 2nd print 9.6. I think a lot of collectors are waking up to the realization of just how important the book is to the hobby ( and the TMNT generation is hitting its prime). Arguably from a historic point of view the Turtles are on par with Superman, Spiderman & Wolverine/X-men. The books impact on the hobby can not be understated & when you factor in the limited # of first prints & general rise in almost all collectables I don't see any market manipulation just a lot of people waking up to the fact that now is the time to buy this book before it becomes unattainable. On a side note I think because of the limited # of first prints its becoming clear the normal modern era rules do not books apply to this book in terms of only rare variants or ultra high examples being considered good investments. The truth is the 9.8-9.2 boat sailed a few months ago. IMHO the real action over the next few months is going to be in the 65-85 grade & in the 9.8 2nd and even 3rd prints. Just my 2 cents sorry I sold my 7.5 for 4 grand a few years ago
  21. Pound for pound...............a guy named Frazetta is the only heavyweight in the ring imho his Famous Funnies, Beware, Science Fantasy,Ghost Rider & Thundra are among some of the best covers ever done in the field of comics .
  22. Local auction had this hard to find book Timley USA #11 (5.0/6.0) spine tear, ow pages, seller could not confirm any resto or not? ( as is, no refunds)........ With BP it was going to be around 4k+ Almost went one more bid ($4500+), should I have? ( Note: I would have sold this or traded it , not for my personal collection).
