  1. I have joined all the young weirdos that now flock to these A24 movies. My brother is normal and can’t stand Hereditary and Midsommar but he did like Green Room. That was an older A24 flick.
  2. Kevin Feige is not a genius. Actual geniuses like Marie Curie would have taken exception to that. Feige is a comic book nerd (like most of us) and a good businessman that knows how to market his product to appeal to the masses in the same way Michael Bay does. Bay gets a lot of heat but he brings in the box office and will never be out of work. Feige knows his box office formula works and he can put the most amount of butts in seats across the ages from young children to their parents even if those parents have no interest. They gotta take their kids. It’s basic marketing without a lot of risk. I don’t blame him. If I had the option to produce a PG Marvel movie like Winter Soldier or an R rated DC movie like Joker, my wallet makes that decision. Make mine Marvel. (Of course who knew Joker would have broke a billion? None of us.) But Joker was risky and I appreciate that risk they took. But enough about Feige and formulas, that’s nothing new. Marvel, The Fast and Furious, Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean are franchises that own the box office for good reason. On casting Captain Marvel, I’m happy she worked for you and others. Sincerely. Larson took a lot of hate from her interviews but I don’t care about her offscreen persona or any actors offscreen persona for that matter. As long as they are not morally bankrupt. My favorite actors are people I would never care to meet. I rib Larson a lot for her performance in CM because I wanted to love it. As I’ve said before, I loved her in Free Fire. Not a great movie but a fun one with great performances from the entire cast. Sorry for the long winded post, I’m not working today. In bed with fever. Bored.
  3. I wouldn’t say Captain Marvel sucked but Brie was a bore. Wooden. A smirk here and there was her go-to emote. Whether it’s the directors or her, she didn’t pull it off. She was not a strong female hero that I cared about or cheered for. For a stark contrast, compare to Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow. It was fascinating to watch her act and also in action.
  4. Nobody “has it in” for a fictional character. Some of us just want a better Captain Marvel movie. I could be wrong but I blame the directors and direction. I don’t know if she will take the forefront of the MCU or not but if so she better earn it with a couple of damn good movies at least.
  5. Good, because I don't care about race or gender either. I just find the current trend of white people being apologetic for the skin color they were born with quite humorous. When you use the term “white dude” in that context (are you trying to channel Brie?) you are ignoring the simple math of our population in the US and how the ratio translates to smaller industries. Racism and sexism obviously exist because there is ignorance everywhere but the problem is placing labels on people you’ve never met because they just have a different view from yours. Yeah.. you know you are quite guilty of this. Screaming racism or sexism when not warranted is as damaging as screaming fire in a theater. It’s hurts the real issues of racism and sexism.
  6. Stick to your guns! Screw all those white dudes! Can I say that if I’m not white? I need to consult Twitter to see what’s race trendy today.
  7. Careful, your canned response for anyone who didn’t enjoy the movie as much as you has been proven wrong in the past. From guys here who have said repeatedly that Aliens and Terminator are their favorite movies across many threads. We want female leads so take your tired “white male” trope elsewhere.
  8. As of 8 hours ago, the White House said it’s goal is to get at least the first dose to 70% of Americans who want it by July 4.
  9. Let’s say the large part of the population that is not getting the vaccine (for many reasons, not just the hoax theorists) decide they will get it. We can’t meet that demand. At least not today. The supply will get there eventually though.
  10. Yeah the full body suit preventing skin contact seems a little hokey but I guess they had to draw a line somewhere or contact would be fatal if the protagonist tossed a ball to himself and caught it. Try the low budget movie called Timecrimes (horrible name, I know) as it’s quite captivating.
  11. Oh I agree, articles need sensationalism to attract attention or outrage. I’m far from offended but sampling certain bits of a statement for another purpose (in this case after the man has passed on) well, I wouldn’t do it. But it makes for a cool sounding promo!
  12. It’s about integrity. Don’t change the important message he wanted to convey.
  13. Ok, seriously, this may be more entertaining than GvK. MST family movie night with home-made margaritas that’s more tequila than rita.
  14. That Stan Lee quote in Marvel’s new trailer reveals a disturbing MCU truth “For the purposes of its Phase Four hype-up video, Marvel Studios edited and condensed Lee’s original speech to the point that any trace of its anti-bigotry messaging has been scrubbed clean. It is now a more generic message that beckons (paying) audiences back to movie theaters. It is also morbid how Marvel Studios uses Lee’s voice when Disney had little involvement to care for Lee, who was besieged by profit-seeking controllers in his final days.” https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/marvel-phase-4-trailer-stan-lee-voice-over-quote
  15. Loved Tenet. On The Batman, I really did not like this image of him below where he could practically be the Joker. But the trailer looks like the movie is going to do something right for the first time in Batman cinema by giving us a detective story. I could be wrong but I hope not. I hope they focus on a slow burn mystery and do a 180 from the huge spectacles we have received in the past from Nolan and Snyder. Not that I didn’t love those but I want something different from this next iteration. And if this Batman helps bring in a younger generation of fans, that’s a good thing as well. I’m thinking my teenage daughters will enjoy this more than my favorite, The Dark Knight.
  16. I know I can’t be the only one but I signed up for HBOMAX just to see ZSJL. I got the free trial and then paid for one month. Then cancelled. I got to see The Little Things and GVK along with a couple others. I only needed to watch JL once on HBO as I want some time to pass before I buy it and watch it again.
  17. Ha, a DC show produced by the guy who said “F DC.”
  18. ▫️

    Nobody

Also good guy fight scenes or car accidents. They get the small cut on their forehead above an eye or on the cheek so they have cool looking wounds. Hardly ever realistic wounds like a smashed nose or swollen lips. Or how about that golf ball hematoma on the forehead? I’ve had those from just falling off my bicycle. Vin Diesel rolls his car 15 times and walks out like this.
  19. So Apple has finally done what I’ve always wanted. I hated those dumb commercials in the past saying the iPad was a computer when it never measured up in terms of a graphics engine or RAM. Now, finally, they put a powerhouse chip in the next iPad Pro (the same one in their computers) and added an option for 16gb of RAM and a 2 terabyte storage option. This means an iPad is now capable of running high end PC games. I’m hoping for both Red Dead Redemptions and GTA5. I have hated on Apple for so long due to it’s incremental upgrades in their phones and tablets but they have finally surprised me and made a product that is years ahead of the tablet competition. 120hz Mini-LED and USB-C Thunderbolt was the minimum I was expecting. With the M1 chip it’s now on par with their MacBooks and iMac. This is going to be one hell of a mobile gaming device. Of course it’s overpriced but whatever, I want GTA5 on the go.
  20. Canadian Chaos reminds me of that Key and Peele sketch where he screams out that he has no opinions of his own to voice and just goes along with whatever is popular in pop culture. Watch it if you haven’t seen it, it’s hilarious. But I don’t think anyone cares if it added subscribers or not. Unless you’re the CEO of HBO. We got the film we wanted. I don’t care about reviews or percentages or their budget, I just wanted the movie. It only needs to succeed in my eyes. And that goes for every movie. The masses don’t affect what I enjoy. Not that it matters but I see this film gathering a cult following and think the sales of its blu-rays and digital copies will be telling over the years. Especially since this is the end of an era. Zack Snyder went out with a bang with DC and I hope Army of the Dead knocks it out of the park so he can give us more of the same.
