True.  But I put the blame on the franchise.  Plus I have lowered my bar significantly in expectations.  So a lull in the story isn't going to disappoint me.  I'm not asking for much...

    -  A decent looking Predator (doesn't have to be great)

    - Good story (doesn't have to be great)

    - A few moments where I can say "cool"

    - Good acting (doesn't have to be Oscar worthy)

    - Violence and body count (doesn't have to be graphic or over the top)

    - Lots of macho/primal/manly (in this case womanly) scenes

    ***Just a good popcorn movie

I don’t blame you, I’ve lowered my expectations as well. We’ve been burned too many times. But this does look great. But so did every other Predator trailer ever. I’m excited for it and if it sucks, I’ll still be excited for the next one and will watch that turd too.

    But can he act???

***If it was all looks Victoria Secret models would make up the Avengers teamlol

I don’t know, I think he’s done mostly Korean films. Like the guy they chose for Namor has done mostly Mexican films. But Marvel saw him and said, “This. This is the guy.”

Damn, that is a close match.  Even has the arched eyebrow thing going on.

Yup, and if they can erase Cavill’s mustache, they can add a widows peak to this dude. Might be cheaper to just glue on some hair.

So I don't understand what change is considered acceptable and what changes aren't (not calling you out specifically...just in general).  So his origin is now Aztec/Incan...so what?

    - Nick Fury is black

    - Spiderman is played by a bunch of different people (also an animated pig)

    - Nobody got angry with Fat Thor

    - etc.

I'll be more upset if the movie doesn't do him justice as a character...which I'll wait until I see it.  I understand nostalgia and holding onto what we grew up with but I think we need to be more flexible with change (whether we like it or not).

***Multiverse...I'm sure the perfect Namor exists in one of the universes lol

But there is only one OG Spider-Man and his back story is relatively intact. Multiverse stuff doesn’t count. Fat Thor is still Thor and was done for comedic effect and then he returned to his normal look.  Nick Fury was just a reimagining of a character they didn’t think was iconic enough. But you change the origin of a character, then you’ve changed that character. Imagine Peter Parkers origin story taking place in Oregon. I mean, I’m not rioting about Namor (yet) but there were a few simple things they could have nailed.

    Thank you, Marvel..

Fair enough.  So let me change my answer...I'm just glad they didn't make him Chinese or African American (to a point when he showed up I didn't say "what??").

***Personally, I thought he looked great

Seriously? It’s a terrible representation all the way to the costume. Eddie Munster would have been a better choice. And we’re just going to redact Atlantis? This is not Sub-Mariner. He should have been in the cast of Apocalypto.

    How about X-Tinct?

With the :censored: that the MCU has been giving us, I don't care what they do, I'm not watching it. Even if Disney will pay me to sit through this garbage.

You can’t screw with The X-Men. Disney will keep the title and hopefully it will be an awesome start. Days of Future Past set the bar for an X-Men film and I’m really hoping Marvel raises it without a joke or wink every 15 minutes.

I disagree. But I gave the right scenario.

Clark tickles Zod into giggling and letting out a loud Kryptonian fart to break the intensity. They both fall down on the floor rolling in laughter, and then dance off into the sunset holding hands.'

    :insane:

Now I did say I’m good with the neck break and Zod needed to die, I just wanted a grander death I guess. Like Zod using his laser vision on the Hoover Dam or a nuclear reactor or whatever and then Supes puts the kibosh on him.

  8. For the record, as much as I love MOS, I did wish Pa Kent had a heart attack instead. I often wish heart attacks on people anyway. And while I am good with the neck snappin cracklin goodness at the end, I didn’t think they used the right scenario for it to occur. It seemed like a low stakes situation with a couple of lives at stake after thousands probably got taken out in collapsing buildings. I would still have had Clark kill Zod but in a different situation where there was no time to think and too many lives not to consider. But since the greatest fight scenes in comic book movie history had just taken place I am able to forgive things I didn’t like.

I’m sure you guys can answer this question. What’s the deal when Supes rescues Lois in BvS? I figured the guy was dead after getting driven thru multiple concrete block walls but apparently Clark later refers to it and says no one died? I must have missed that part.  ???

I’ve gone through a couple of *cough* concrete walls before and no big deal really. Ok fine, that dude would have been a bag of liquid but he messed with Supes girl. Funny how later he would be like, “Oh sure, that dude was good, few scratches and whatnot.. yeah..”

Sure Batman used a gun in the first handful of Tec's.  Killed the giants by hanging them.  Don't disagree.  But the "general" concept is he doesn't use guns.  I read Byrne's Superman.  No biggie.  I don't like it in the movie.  Same like I didn't like the idea of changing Pa Kent's death.  The whole concept of Pa Kent dying by a heart attack sets up the idea that with all of his powers, there are still some things he is powerless about. He's not God.  In the Donner film, it's tragic and heartbreaking.  In the MoS ridiculousness, it makes NO sense.  "Well clark you COULD have just zoomed in and saved him, and flown so fast noone saw it, or maybe just blown the tornado away with your superbreath, but no i'm just gonna shake ya off and commit suicide by Tornado."

Oh wow, I’m not positive but that Iron Man #1 in your sigline looks like the one I sold over a decade ago. Unless you submitted it for the signature.

Agreed, I didn’t like Pa Kents death in MOS at all. But I can find things in most movies I would have changed. Overall, Man of Steel was one hell of a comic book movie ride for me. Absolute best superpowered fights with the destruction to match. Sure thousands died but I don’t want Joe’s parachuting from every plane Cobra shoots down.

It is totally okay to not appreciate any (or all) of his movies. Nobody MUST appreciate them.

But these folks that swim in and out with all sorts of 'facts' how unsuccessful Snyder was/is and then want to declare fans as toxic is pretty funny. Go back to the Batman v Superman thread and how many people told me how wrong I was about enjoying this film. But not just that I was wrong. How blind I am to creativity. Fun times. Fun times indeed!

Yes, we must all agree to like the same things!  I think we all know how childish it is to berate someone for enjoying a movie or show and I would just dismiss those people. And I don’t respect others opinions because they like what I like. If you find value in a movie I hate, we should celebrate those differences. Rib each other and move on, its not that serious.
