  1. Honestly, I don't think there has ever been a comic book movie that deserves an Oscar win for Best Picture. Not even Dark Knight but it did deserve a nomination at least in that category. I'm just being real, I love comic book movies but they do not stack up against films of consequence that evoke thought and emotion. I don't agree with the Best Picture choice every year but even my last choice is usually better than my favorite comic book movies. Of course the Best Pictures may not be as re-watchable or loved but there is no denying that comic movies don't hold a candle to films that deserve the distinction and honor of being considered the best the year has to offer. Are we really going to put Black Panther in the same league as Platoon, Unforgiven, Shindler's List, Million Dollar Baby or The Departed? (And I only listed modern Best Pictures for my comparison). I loved Black Panther but it was not gut wrenching or emotional or thought provoking at all. I think I felt hollow for days after seeing Million Dollar Baby. After Black Panther, my kids looked at me and said, "That was pretty cool." And it was. Just like most of them are.
  2. I also recall interviews with Gene Colan saying he didn’t care for Marvels Captain Marvel at all. Plus he didn’t like the costume. I guess he didn’t have a lot of say in it at the time.
  3. For those more knowledgeable than I am with the characters history please correct me. This is my take as I recall it. Captain Marvel started out in Whiz with Fawcett Comics in the 1940's. DC Sued Fawcett in the 1950's stating they stole the idea from Superman. During this suit, Marvel Comics jumped in during the copyright lapse and trademarked the name Captain Marvel out from under them. Now that is low. By the 1970's DC had licensed the characters and by the 80's or 90's acquired all rights. Is this pretty much the long and short of it?
  4. I thought both of them were just ok. I never laughed once (just wasn't that funny to me and on par with fart jokes) but I had plenty of smiles and grins. I liked Negasonic in the first one. Loved Juggernaut and Domino in the second.
  5. And Ronda just completed the companion piece for this. Day and Night versions.
  6. I forgot about the 80’s thing. Great music and nice little tribute to one of my favorite 80’s movies. Yes, Optimus looked perfect.
  7. Very predictable and Cena was just cringeworthy. He only had one good line about the Decepticons name. Other than that he was a ridiculous parody of a generic soldier. Despite this, I think it was a very enjoyable movie and perfect to watch with your kids. Maybe I’m biased because I have a teenage daughter named Charli. I thought the movie focusing on her instead of giant robot battles worked. The fact that Michael Bay did not write or direct this one is apparent. He is only listed as one of the five producers. All in all, this will be the second Transformers movie I will buy to go along with the first one.
  8. Normally I can wait until the end of a season as I prefer to binge-watch but that won’t be the case here. Despite lackluster reviews of Season 2, I still really enjoyed it and on top of that, it contained one of the most realistic and intense firefights ever filmed. I’ve only seen Ali in two other movies, Moonlight and recently The Green Book and was pretty impressed with him so I’m really looking forward to my favorite noir show returning.
  9. I forget which news source I heard this from, guess I could google it but 325 million was the magic break even number I heard for production costs. I never look into this side of the entertainment business as I have no real interest in it and somebody has probably already posted the budget here somewhere from a reputable source.
  10. If you're talking about the piece with the signature almost in the center of the page, I wouldn't lose sleep over it as its the all-stat page. The original art splash with the signature under the feet is fine. As long as it was added at the creation of the page. I don't understand why people ask the artists to sign a published image years later after the fact. Then the piece is altered from its original published form.
  11. While I’m not in the habit of reading the usual garbage comments scattered through YouTube, one of the top comments on this video was pretty good. ”Looks incredible!! Let’s cancel it.”
  12. Leaping around and in between buildings and hovering?
  13. Really looking forward to it. Would love to see Ronin and Dark Knight Returns in this format too.
  14. I'd let this one slide. Superman doesn't flap his arms to fly.
  15. Ha, I took the above as referring to my post. And anyway, it was absolute bs that I made up. I don’t know anything about the budget or their reasoning or even if the Russo Brothers are on Twitter or not! I’m just here to post fake news.
  16. BS? The Russo brothers tweeted they went over budget and decided to work Hulk into the next one. They would just fill in a sound story/reason why. Look it up.
  17. I remember wanting/needing that Platinum bagged edition so bad! I guess it made an impact all these years later. I saw this cover at Essential Sequential and bought it without hesitation. I know it’s not the same but I dig it!
  18. I know it’s historic and looks great but that 300 cover posted there just crushes it for me. No nostalgia associated with the Detective.
  19. I need to find some bargains like this. Similar to how I find C.P. Wilson to be underpriced.
