  1. because of that reader's crease looking so deep I don't see this higher than VG... so I'll say 4.0-4.5 as the rest of the book appears really nice.
  2. I was thinking 3.0 and I'm not just saying that. It looks pressed - first pics show a bit of spine roll. Nice!
  3. $1100 was my biggest profit... I don't flip much anymore
  4. nice report I was considering going, but didn't want to deal with the crowds... I feel like I lived it vicariously through you
  5. Eric purchased a TOD10 from me and the transaction couldn't have gone smoother. He was quick to respond to messages, paid promptly and was very easy to deal with. As a seller, you can't ask for anything more. I highly recommend him! Thanks, Mike
  6. that's crazy Looks like a car ran over it
  7. MCS is a great options as mentioned already. Instead of just selling them the entire lot at a fraction the value, you could consign them through MCS and only give up 10% (or I think it's 8% if the book's value is $300 or more). You set the prices, and when the books sell, MCS sends you a check in a couple weeks. Once MCS has all the books, you don't have to pack and ship each one individually by yourself. This way, you might be slowly parting the books out, but still recouping most of the equity in the books.
  8. but purely based on aesthetics, I think the mylars are best - the viewer's focus is purely on the book and popping colours (arguably, where the attention should be)
  9. the slab looks great when the big number on the top is 9.8 or higher
  10. I'm surprised it graded 6.0 with all the tears on the BC along the spine. Since the tears were sealed (hence the PLOD), does CGC then grade the books as if the tears aren't there?
  11. it just has spine ticks and some rounded corners, I can't see any creases or stains, so I don't think it'll be 5.0-5.5 range
  12. 3.5... maybe 4.0-4.5 with a press and clean
  13. Two scenarios: book 1: bought from dealer A, subjectively graded by said dealer at 8.0 and it came back 9.0 book 2: bought from dealer B, subjectively graded by said dealer at 8.0 and it came back a 7.0 where would you buy your next book?
  14. To answer the OP's question... yes I think if you want to be a comic dealer, you should have very reasonable grading skills. Maybe even under grade books a touch to keep people happy, and give customers the feeling that they're getting good value out of a transaction
  15. congrats on the 5.5 - it looks amazing... especially compared to your first photo of it. i had no idea that estate sales were so cutthroat... whereas everyone races and pushes and shoves to the goods. That's too intense/infuriating for me
  16. I'll take Prize #33: What If? #1 (1977) CGC 9.4 Thanks again for organizing guys - I had a great time!!!
