  1. Small changes based on the fact I've just read both of these comics - both of these comics were released on the same day:

    The High Republic #2

    1st appearance one Nihil member.

    The High Republic Adventures #1

1st appearance of Baro, Bibs, Torban Buck, Farzala, Zeen Mrala, Qort, Lula Talisola, 5-6 members of the Nihil, Tromak the Elders of the Path, as well as the 1st cameo appearance of Marchion Ro, the leader of the Nihil :x

In The High Republic #2 there was only 1 Nihil, whereas in The High Republic Adventures #1 there were around 5-6 of them, not forgetting the leader of the Nihil, Marchion lol

  2. I know Weekly Shōnen Jump #43 is the first appearance of Naruto - technically a manga, but I'm curious what would constitute as his 1st American appearance, akin to Viz's Dragonball Z #1 being Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta's in 1985.

I've been looking and CGC doesn't seem to have an official key comment-label on the verification page to clarify this ~ Though, I know in 2018 Free Comic Book Day released a Shonen Jump Special, and in May 2020, they released a Naruto comic as written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto ~

    What do you think?

    All comments are welcomed :x

I've got a copy or two of this, but like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person I damaged one of them. I'm not sure how much the value of Xombi will hold up compared to other characters. The new Milestone preview suggests there's basically a new character that's somewhat similar; not sure if that means that Xombi won't be back.

    Awesome! :x

Well Michael B Jordan did say he's attempting to build a Universe of sorts from Static film, so there's a possibly that Xombi appears eventually - he should, as he's part of Main Five of Milestone; but even if he doesn't the comics will increase due to their estimated print run, also that includes Milestone Returns ~ At least that's my logic - but I just checked: Xombi is back but his origin will be different, wherein he merges with a female lol

As popular as Ghostbusters is and the growing interest in the comic, what is surprising to me is how little of the original art from the comic series there is to be found. There are a lot of cels and a few pages of original art that I know one collector has, and a couple of the painted covers from Real Ghostbusters and Slimer, but the art from this series and Slimer is either hidden away in a black hole collection or still with the artists.

And, I rarely ever find The Real Ghostbusters issues in the wild. In all my years of buying comics, I think I've run upon one copy in a comic shop and that was last year in a shop in West Virginia. Even the Slimer series is impossible to find in shops.

The Real Ghostbusters Omnibuses from IDW are now long out of print and getting harder and harder to find, too.

    You're absolutely right!

Slimer's runs are pretty low too, but yeah I've never seen original art ~

Is / was their some kind of trademark that made them throw "real" in the title?

It was a spin off from The Real Ghostbusters animated show, which was named as such - I do believe - do separate association from 'The Ghost Busters', which was a completely different show.

  5. Surprised there wasn't an individual thread on this topic ~

I've noticed a slight increase in purchases of the Real Ghostbusters' UK and US comic versions since the announcement of Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) ~

The UK editions were released before the American versions, and there's not a great deal of information on the print runs of these, though at the very least Comichron suggested the North American presale numbers for The Real Ghostbusters #14 to be at 2,850 - so god knows what the possible estimates up to The Real Ghostbusters #28 - the last issue, mind you - are like lol

But does anyone collect these per chance? I'll leave the OP with an image of The Real Ghostbusters #1, with the badge attached :x

Also, on Star Wars: High Republic Adventures #1, there's a nice 10 page sample in the High Republic Sampler over at Disney.com:

    https://books.disney.com/book/the-high-republic-free-digital-sampler/

Tons of first appearances (more than the Marvel book even), including the Nihil Raiders (I think someone said this before), the main antagonists from the book. If Marchion Ro shows up, this book will go wild. It doesn't read like an all ages book, more like a compliment to the Marvel series. I think this one is being slept on.

I originally said Nihil, but then I found out the first appearance of the Nihil in comics was in High Republic #2, but the Nihil Raiders? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ~

By the way, my five copies of High Republic #1 came today, a few subscription presses that a future press won't fix lol

That’s why I prefaced, as long as Filoni is involved. So, possibly, but re-read my post.

If Filoni isn’t the future of SW, the franchise will flounder, IMO.

Also, can you point me to somewhere that says the Legends characters are not in Disney’s possession now and that royalties would need to be paid for their usage? The Alan Dean Foster situation is a bit different than the Legends characters introduced in the comics and other books

    Ah, true true lol

You're right, but both Filoni and Favreau will be the future IMO - especially as Kennedy's contract runs out this year ~

EU characters are in the possession of Disney since 2012, but I'm referring to residuals in the form of books and comics whether it be from Fox or Dark Horse ~

But it's still rather telling that around 20 characters were brought into the fold in the past 9 years, but then again the mentality of Kennedy was to ignore the EU comics lol

Well I just picked up another Platinum Static 1 never thought I would have the chance to get another one.
Picked up several late Hardware issues and Long Hot City.
Found some Wise Son issues trying to make a set just to prove I can print runs were nothing.

Great stuff! I'm still trying to get some of the rather recent keys ~

I think 8.5 is the best this book will do with a clean and press. The creasing in the corner will still be detectable on the white when inspected through a jeweler’s loupe as “color breaking” along with the spine ticks evident on the front cover

Until the stabilize more and my shop complains less about DC I will keep shying away from investing in them in
new issues. I am happy to continue to sell their back issues.

AT&T is not known for making smart decisions with any property as you mentioned above.

How's your Milestone collecting going? ~

20 even sounds high. I can think of maybe 5? I can't think of any characters that originated in a comic either that have appeared in SW canon. Thrawn was a book, Asaaj was the cartoon. Revan was KOTOR. (Unsure on Bane. ) Maybe Quinlan Vos? Was he in the movies?

Yep, around 20 (or at the very least over 20, to be exact) but there were VERY minor characters lol

As long as Dave Filoni is involved in SW projects, any Legends character is fair game. It’s similar to how Feige went deep in the Marvel library when Disney started really building the MCU.

There are going to be a lot of pump and dumpers peddling any first appearance, but if you’re ever reading a SW comic or watching a show and think, “you know what Legends character would fit here,” Filoni probably thought the same thing, and it’s going to happen.

Possibly, but read my post on the previous page about EU characters :3

I’ve been trying to figure out why. Hadn’t heard of these characters in any big rumor but it’s possible I missed something.

There's nothing other than people are spec'ing on characters with little to zero chance of ever seeing the light of day on a TV show. (Much like 90% of the current SW spec.) I suspect some pump and dumper Youtube/Instragram personality is trying to draw up interest to inflate their own stash.

Yep, most of the EU characters won't be "canonised", so to speak, and what many fail to realise is that there's only been around 20 characters including Thrawn that have actually been reintroduced into the "Disney 2012 canon". Though - I hasten to add - apart from Thrawn, every other character has been a rather minor in scope to the point I wasn't even aware of their existence ~ Apart from the "special circumstances" of Darth Bane (in spirit form during Clone Wars) and certain hints at Revan (in a deleted scene of Clone Wars) I'm really unsure ... lol

We have two factions at Lucasfilm: Kennedy who's interested in the "Disney Trilogy" and the High Republic era, and Favreau and Filoni who are interested in the events post-Return of the Jedi as of late (departing from the Prequels and Clone Wars), so it remains to be seen which characters appear - more so in the Kennedy-produced Acolyte show ~

The irony is that there's more of a chance that characters from the High Republic and the High Republic Adventures appear in a show down the line than the possibility of "some he or she" who may, and then there's the aspect of royalties in respect to whether Disney would want to create new characters or simply use EU ones; given the current predicament Disney is in with regards to losing a great deal of money presently: cinemas closing; Mulan bombing at the box-office, parks, attractions and cruises being cancelled, etc, while factoring in the recently publicised fact that Disney refused to pay Star Wars author, Alan Dean Foster, his royalties for his pre-Disney acquisitional contributions to Star Wars - just food for thought lol

The book will benefit from a press, however it looks like it breaks color towards the spine.

The color breaks can't be fixed by the press. It will only flatten out the rest of the crease

    Thanks a lot ^_^

    2 hours ago, B2D327 said:

Really not worth the effort unless you need a book to practice on. The spine wear is there forever, unfortunately.

    Thanks :3 But I'm curious what grade you'd give it post-press? ~

  14. I was wondering what grade do you think this is?

Would this benefit from a press or a clean?

There is a slight crease on the left-hand side of the comic and there's notably a bend at the bottom left corner (though the front cover seems fine-ish)

I've included some additional images in the spoiler-tag and all comments are appreciated :x
