The book will benefit from a press, however it looks like it breaks color towards the spine.

The color breaks can't be fixed by the press. It will only flatten out the rest of the crease

    Thanks a lot ^_^

Really not worth the effort unless you need a book to practice on. The spine wear is there forever, unfortunately.

    Thanks :3 But I'm curious what grade you'd give it post-press? ~

  2. I was wondering what grade do you think this is?

Would this benefit from a press or a clean?

There is a slight crease on the left-hand side of the comic and there's notably a bend at the bottom left corner (though the front cover seems fine-ish)

I've included some additional images in the spoiler-tag and all comments are appreciated :x

Aargh. I am sorry to hear that. Thank you for giving me the heads up on the Virgins from his site.

High Republic was always a long term play. The people flipping them now will be missing out on the big gains. Disney has said it is a multi-year multi-media play all along. The first three phases have been announced from a publishing perspective, and the film/TV play is yet to come. The first HR related D+ show, Acolytes, has been announced and there will be more coming as time goes on. Buy your copies for cheap now and hold for a bit.

True, but Filoni and Favreau seem to be focused on the events after the Original Trilogy, whereas the Acolyte is a Kennedy-controlled project, for the most part ~ It's very telling that all but one show take places before the Prequels and Disney/Lucasfilm understands that the money is in Grogu (Baby Yoda) and Luke Skywalker, hence why they're staying WELLLLLL clear from that awfully-underdeveloped trilogy they cobbled together years ago - even to the point of erasing canon, such as Baby Yoda being Luke's first student instead of "Ben", for example lol

The point I'm trying to make is that although Kathleen Kennedy is the head of Lucasfilm: the buck stops at the two Bobs - Bob Iger most of all as he has greenlighting power (he greenlit the Sequel Trilogy, Solo, Mandalorian etc) ~

Another consideration is when does the Acolyte take place in relation to the High Republic and the Adventures: The Acolye takes place during the "end of the High Republic" and we know the High Republic is a 200-year-period, after the events of the Old Republic and that most of the characters are human so it's very unlikely we'll see them in that show ~

But that changes if they announce an early High Republic animated or live show - but that depends on the success of the comics ~

Buy all copies of the 1:25  for $17 each.  Completed sales from $60 to $90.

It'll probably get snapped up before I get in today as I waited until NCBD but I'll try and get it, thanks for your help!

E: Thank you everyone else as well, much appreciated!

Still curious how those "limited to 600" variants will do - especially if there's an animated series in the future regarding the High Republic ~

Star Wars 10 1:25 seems to be selling for $50-70

I'm curious to see how well Star Wars Insider 200 does when it hits next month on Feb. 10th.
It's got a Mandalorian foil cover by Peach and part 2 of the Star Wars High Republic story from 199.

Yeah, I'm still curious about this - #199 had the advantage of the first magazine appearance of the High Republic, whereas #200 will just have a Grogu/Mando cover ~

I thought the Nihil were on the 1:10 Marvel #1 cover?

They are, but they're only mentioned in High Republic #1 when Avar Kriss speaks to Estala Maru of Sskeer's encounter with the group on Kur; so the first comic book appearance of the Nihil will be in High Republic Adventures #1 - however, their first appearance is in the book The High Republic: Light of the Jedi ~

I think there is a 1:10 and that is it.

Maybe I will grab a couple.  I will just load up on the Sway variant.

Given that - clearly speaking, mind you - the IDW won't be selling as much as the Marvel issues, it should be very intriguing to see where this 1:10 ends up in the future lol

  8. The High Republic #1

1st appearance of Keeve Trennis, Vetar, Estala Maru, Lekaki, Kanrii and the 1st comic appearance of Matari, Lina Soh, Sskeer and Voru.

    The High Republic Adventures #1

1st appearance of Baro, Bibs, Torban Buck, Farzala, Zeen Mrala, Qort, Lula Talisola and the Elders of the Path, as well as the 1st comic appearance of the Nihil (villains of the High Republic).

Definitely. I thought 200k-250k due to Covid and current state of the industry, and then just before FOC 150-200k. This low of a number is totally unexpected. My guess is that Marvel printed 40k copies of each cover - 33k to 36540 were distributed of each and then 10% overprint for damage returns since their printer's production quality has been spotty over the past year.

Most stores missed on this one, but I guess you really can't blame them for being hesitant since print runs on the other SW books are relatively low AND Marvel/Disney did nothing to promote this until after FOC. Makes me wonder if each of the five main writers had a case or two of each cover written into their contracts.........

Woah, very interesting - that's a pretty low run ...

But yeah, I'm curious what High Republic Adventures is like now

Whats with the high republic adventures book, did they forget to provide colour? Or maybe it is a colouring book?

    I'm really unsure if it's just a variant - as there's a colourised one too ~

Yes that is my philosophy for 20 years selling in this hobby. Others take different routes and there is no right answer.
For me its always about watching cost compared to how much appreciation the book will achieve. That and I don't
need top dollar on my books because I am cost efficient as I can be.

I agree, but I had to get these - although 40 of my ordered DC Milestone issues should be prosessed soon lol

    1. x1 The High Republic #1 (Aaron Kuder variant - limited to 600)
    2. x5 The High Republic #1
    3. x15 The High Republic Adventures #1
